From the outside, Cafe Metro looks a little bit grotty and looks like it could do with a bit of love. That said, once you step inside, you'll find a clean enough place, albeit one steeped in a bygone age (an age, incidentally, which I can't quite put my finger on). All in all, it's a nice little cafe that has some outdoor seating (the ubiquitous metal chairs and tables) should you get a nice day. Should you be after a little something, as opposed to a proper meal that will impress a date, then Cafe Metro should tick your boxes. There's tea and coffee (what kind of cafe would it be if it didn't have those?) as well as sandwiches and hot food. It's all rather cheap as well, which is always nice to know. Probably the best thing about this little snackery is the staff. They're incredibly cheery and helpful and really do put a lot of neighbouring places to shame. You should probably pop in if you haven't already.

I went for when it opened so I was the first one in and I had a great chat with one of the staff about dragonball z as I was wearing a shirt of it. Inside it looked immaculate, very trendy and a place I would love to go to, time and time again. It was a large space too and they had their own merchandise in there which I will buy one day and a full cabinet of delicious looking treats .. all handmade and not the usual manufactured items. I went for a donut and a flat white and they were both amazing. As I was on a coffee tour, I took it all out and had it whilst sat next to the canal ... perfect view for a perfect coffee. I couldn't recommend this place more and I count the days until I can return.

TL;DR - Great coffee shop away from some of the busier spots in Ancoats…read more You really need to know this place is here to find it, tucked away inside Royal Mill. Go in through the main entrance, past reception and the cafe is on the far right. In side it's dimly lit but cosy with lots of exposed wood. Great coffee, great cakes and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Every time we've been here it's always pleasantly busy but not overcrowded. There's plenty of seating inside at tables and long benches, or you can head into the "outside" seating area, which is actually indoors but under glass and so protected from the weather. They also roast their own coffee so you can pick up a bag to go.

One Sunday I went up as I could get there for opening time and decided to cross it off my list. When I got there it was already open so that was a little confusing ... but it was RAMMED. Luckily, I was going on my own so could easily be sat at the window, which was a great view, and easily got served. So many people came in after me and couldn't be seated without a reservation. But the host was very lovely and gracious and people understood. Food wise I went for the shakshuka, it sounded nice, and it really was ... it was also EXTREMELY hot because it was served in cast iron and kept its heat. It was delicious. The toast was crispy, the tomatoes were tasty, chickpeas were crunchy and a nice addition, The added sausage was very delicious, the eggs were good although I would have preferred if they had some runny yolk but its almost impossible to get that with baked eggs. Server was lovely, staff were great, absolutely need to return here when I can.

Tucked a bit away, it's a small coffee shop with lovely character. We decided to have food here…read more I ordered the grilled cheese and there was a mixture of vegetables cooked in. It was a surprisingly filling sandwich. I couldn't finish it from feeling so full. My skinny mocha was good. I don't know that I can judge much other than to say it was a good coffee drink. Staff is friendly. Plenty of seating including open tables. I wish I had tried a baked good cuz they looked amazing, but just didn't have the room.

I popped in before an event the other day and had a mountain of admin work to get through and not a lot of time. I spent just over an hour in here and managed to get a lot of stuff done which made me feel at ease later on in the evening! They have a range of different coffees available; your standard stuff like Flat Whites, Americano's etc but also V60, Aeropress and Pourover options! I'm slowly starting to get more knowledgable about my coffee and what I'm tasting so I always like to mix up what I'm getting to test my palete. I had an Americano to start and then opted for a Columbian medium roast via the V60 - really nice and easy to drink! The guy next to me had a sandwich that smelt delicious and the selection of cakes and bakery treats was incredibly tempting - however on my 2 visits I've not tried the food. A great spot to take a load of, enjoy a quality brew or work away in a little bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.
