I went for when it opened so I was the first one in and I had a great chat with one of the staff about dragonball z as I was wearing a shirt of it. Inside it looked immaculate, very trendy and a place I would love to go to, time and time again. It was a large space too and they had their own merchandise in there which I will buy one day and a full cabinet of delicious looking treats .. all handmade and not the usual manufactured items. I went for a donut and a flat white and they were both amazing. As I was on a coffee tour, I took it all out and had it whilst sat next to the canal ... perfect view for a perfect coffee. I couldn't recommend this place more and I count the days until I can return.

TL;DR - Great coffee shop away from some of the busier spots in Ancoats…read more You really need to know this place is here to find it, tucked away inside Royal Mill. Go in through the main entrance, past reception and the cafe is on the far right. In side it's dimly lit but cosy with lots of exposed wood. Great coffee, great cakes and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Every time we've been here it's always pleasantly busy but not overcrowded. There's plenty of seating inside at tables and long benches, or you can head into the "outside" seating area, which is actually indoors but under glass and so protected from the weather. They also roast their own coffee so you can pick up a bag to go.

One Sunday I went up as I could get there for opening time and decided to cross it off my list. When I got there it was already open so that was a little confusing ... but it was RAMMED. Luckily, I was going on my own so could easily be sat at the window, which was a great view, and easily got served. So many people came in after me and couldn't be seated without a reservation. But the host was very lovely and gracious and people understood. Food wise I went for the shakshuka, it sounded nice, and it really was ... it was also EXTREMELY hot because it was served in cast iron and kept its heat. It was delicious. The toast was crispy, the tomatoes were tasty, chickpeas were crunchy and a nice addition, The added sausage was very delicious, the eggs were good although I would have preferred if they had some runny yolk but its almost impossible to get that with baked eggs. Server was lovely, staff were great, absolutely need to return here when I can.

I was looking for an American style brunch place (wanted fried chicken and waffles) and came across…read moreHome Sweet (although they didn't have C&W). I got their chicken tenders dish that came with fries, gravy, and slaw. It also came with a barbecue (I think it was barbecue) sauce. I was genuinely surprised as most brunch places I've been to never really serve any of their meals with sides (it's usually extra) so to have slaw and fries with this meal reminded me of how the food is back in America. The service was quick and after ordering, my food came soon after. I enjoyed the gravy more than the barbecue sauce. It had a bit of a sweet taste to it which works well with the chicken (I did find it a bit salty). The portion size was good for the price. I'm not too much of a fan of sweet things but I saw that they had pancakes and would try that next time I check this place out!

The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived but it was 1040am on a Friday so had only been open 40 minutes. We were able to book on advanced just incase and it did get much busier while we were there. The staff were extremely friendly, there was lots of space inside with gorgeous big windows and we got seated and were ordering after a complimentary glass of iced water was brought to us. Fairy low wait times so you know everything was cooked fresh, the plating was amazing and the food was top notch. I went for the banana nutella pancakes with a vanilla latte and a mimosa. I'd go back now if I could .. that's how good it was.

On Saturday, I met some friends here prior to meeting other friends for early dinner at Evuna…read more It's in a really handy location as a pre-dinner place to meet for any of the places around Thomas Street. It's been at least two years since I have been here. I used to come when it first opened with a friend who has since moved away from Manchester and I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to come back. One time when we were here, my friend explained some complicated astrophysics using tea cups, so it's a place of education as well as tea/cake. I always used to get one of the green teas but since I'd already had a vat load of green tea earlier in the day, decided on the redbush. It was excellent, about as good as redbush gets. To accompany the tea, I had a chocolate cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious. They have lemon water and plain tap water on the side, which they keep topped up, which is nice. There's a range of condiments, including nutella, so that's an automatic plus point for me. There's a really nice chilled out vibe and is the sort of place you can meet mates, go on a date (when I first started internet dating 3 years ago, I met my first internet date here), sit and read a paper on your own, do some work (I noticed power points)....basically anything. Some coffee shops, including some indie ones, don't make you feel quite so comfortable on your own. I need to remember to come back here more often.

It was a surprisingly filling sandwich. I couldn't finish it from feeling so full. My skinny mocha was good. I don't know that I can judge much other than to say it was a good coffee drink. Staff is friendly. Plenty of seating including open tables. I wish I had tried a baked good cuz they looked amazing, but just didn't have the room.

Ended up queuing for 30-40 minutes but it was totally totally worth it. On check in they tell you the house rules, such as not disturbing a sleeping cat, you can't pick them up and you must not use a flash when taking photos. They give you either slippers or shoe covers and you have to apply hand gel before going through. It's really secure for the cats as you go through one door, walk up a corridor, then there's another door and finally a little gate. When I arrived, a lot of the cats were in their human free sanctuary cat napping. It's hard work being cute, you know. The drinks are included in the £12 per hour but the snacks are extra. I ordered matcha tea and then a little later an elderflower presse. They have specials every day too. I went on my own but the place is so social I didn't even notice. Dog owners go to parks and meet other dog people; this is the cat equivalent. In the hour and 20 minutes I spent there, I saw/fussed all but three of the cats. I think it's great that they have their cat only room. I also like that they don't let too many people in, as the cats would get stressed. There were lots of places for the cats to climb, hide, play and generally be cute. Definitely a happy cat place. On talking to staff, they are going to do yoga, film night (I could just imagine having a cat cuddle up to me whilst watching a film) and a speed dating night. I will definitely be back and hope the dating is with the cats not humans. I was particularly taken with Joel the Russian Blue so would like to spend more time with him. Yes £12 an hour is a lot but that pays for the cat care and the drinks are included. For me, it's totally worth the money and the wait. Definitely a must visit, unless you are allergic to cats, in which case probably not the best place! Matt, if you read this, please can I suggest an elite event here :-)
