TL;DR - Great coffee shop on the edge of the village.
This corner unit has changed hands a few times over the years, so it's nice to see it having a bit of stability under the current owners. Esquire's is a chain, but I'm not sure many people will realise that because they don't have anywhere near the number of stores of some other chains. That said, it's got the feeling of an independent coffee shop.
I've been here a few times now and the coffee is always good. There's a decent selection of food and drink on display and the service is prompt and friendly. Contactless payments with no minimum spend is always a bonus in my books too!
We also came here once for lunch and had a soup and a sandwich each. Both were good but not out of this world, so my gut reaction would be that this place is better for drinks than food. That said, there were a LOT of people in enjoying brunch at the weekend so maybe they knew something we didn't and we just ordered the wrong thing off the menu!
Location is great - very convenient for both the gay village and the University of Manchester's north campus. read more
