Everything was delicious as you could tell all the ingredients were really fresh. Having 2 kiddies with me in most places raises an eyebrow or two because although they are well behaved they can be abit loud. However here, absolutely not a problem. The staff couldn't do enough for us, so I could relax and enjoy my food. Recommend anyone to go here, try something new and forget your costas and starbucks. Go for some real homecooked tasty food in a friendly local family run cafe. You'll be seeing us again as I won't be going anywhere else whilst i'm shopping in Stockport. Fantastic!!!!

Very affordable for this area. A coffee (they serve Ancoats Coffee) and pastry (as big as your face) for £3. ?!?! The staff have always been quite courteous, and that always helps. There's room for a couple prams but not much more than that. So if it was about one table bigger, it'd be 5 stars from me. As with most other Chorlton coffee spots: nice decor, free WiFi, etc. Also: they open at 9am, earlier than most!

Awkwardly I asked for iced lattes even though they weren't on the menu, and the staff were more than happy to make them for us. Two of them were £6 which seemed a bit steep but I think they were priced the same as a smoothie would be. They were really good, the bf had vanilla syrup in his which was a good amount of sweetness. They brought over some complementary biscuits too which were lovely, some sort of shortbread with what I think might have been crystallised ginger or similar. I meant to ask but they were busy with other customers as I was leaving! There's a Spanish theme running through the menu here and there, which isn't really reflected in the decor, but is interesting. So you can order a Spanish breakfast, a Spanish coffee, some Mexican style dishes, and the special was a Spanish pork dish etc. We didn't eat but both thought there were lots of delicious looking items on the menu. On my first visit, I ordered an Iced Latte. I was disappointed to see they had removed all seating both indoors and out after I mentioned this I was told Head Office forced them to remove it, strangely the seating is now in place outside the store in a partially sheltered area going into Spinningfields Square under a slight Bridge of the street of the same name... you've guessed it Bridge Street. I did originally order a ColdBrew, only to find out halfway through the barista making it that she was giving me a drink that wasn't ready yet, so her manager had to explain the process and how she was giving me a drink which wasn't ready. I think this is awful training of the staff as if the staff member who I presume was the manager didn't step in, I would have had a pretty nasty beverage. On my second visit, I decided to try a hot drink just to shelter from the rain and make the most of Costa's ongoing free drink promotion, I went for a Honeycomb Latte which is part of the new summer menu but again I was left dissatisfied. I often find the coffee from Costa has no flavour, it's boring and the drinks taste more of water than anything else as I found out also on my third visit, where I ordered the Coffee Frostino. It's worth noting the seating area isn't well maintained, it is not only failing to log NHS track and trace for those seating outside, but they also aren't even removing cups from empty tables, let alone sanitising and cleaning them. The only reason I'd visit here again is to get one of the cakes, which are popular with my friend but even for a Costa location, this is poor. I find the yoyoing with the seating to be unprofessional as well as how the barista was ready to give me a drink which wasn't even ready (ColdBrew takes around 24 hours to prepare), a real shame as it does look like a nice but small coffee shop from the outside but on the inside, it's a typical Costa based on past experiences. This is another one of my working from home haunts where I pop out to get sometime out from the computer. They do the usual sandwiches, muffins, sweet treats and coffees. Winter is especially good as they now have a chocolate orange mocha on the menu to which the nice chap who served me gave me extra chocolate curls on the top :) Gingerbread latte is also good as well as the salted caramel latte ( well if you are going to have a coffee might as well have a special one!)

I ordered the home-made Butternut Squash and Basil Soup and a Mature Cheddar and Caramelised Red Onion sandwich with a side salad. My mum opted for one of the days specials - a Roasted Red Pepper and Goats Cheese Flatbread, which came toasted with chips. Both meals were freshly cooked and the service was friendly. We had shopping to do, so were in and out within 35 minutes, which I can imagine will be ideal for those busy weekdays with the people of the nearby businesses and shops popping in on their lunch hour. The rest of the menu seemed standard and what you'd expect from a town centre cafe. The prices were also reasonable. I wouldn't travel across town to go there - but if you're passing by when shopping and fancy a quick lunch, i'd recommend it. It's certainly better than many of the alternatiive eateries in Bury.

Parched Tea Bar- one Tea - Mad Pundit's Impression…read more Well it was a good day for a jaunt to the famous Arndale shopping centre in Manchester and in search of that elusive tea Mecca I came across a quirky Tea bar in the food market area called Parched, and was intrigued, and decided to investigate. I introduced myself as a trainee wannabe pundit interested in sampling some of the goodies especially the teas and was suitable impressed and the tea was good the best in The Arndale, so they tell me explained Marcy Hazell, the proprietor. In the conversation which ensued, I learned a lot about tea and also Parched Tea Bar. England as we know is the home of tea and whenever I am abroad in Germany or Spain and gasping for a cuppa, they just don't seem to have the tea magic that us Brits enjoy. Parched was tea heaven. Marcy explained that she entered the world of exotic teas as the coffee market was saturated and Manchester really did lack any type of specialized tea shop, as she wittily put it, Parched was putting the tea back into the communitea After careful research she now vends over 60 varieties of teas and tisanes (which are herb and flower drinks). I tried some licorice tea which was novel and very refreshing, and as we chatted more I opted for the Fairtrade tea which is the favourite beverage served Japanese green tea was also popular and one of the teas that I found quite interesting was chrysanthemum flower tea But its not just about tea Marcy quipped and went on to explain the diverse range of products on offer, ranging from scones and New Yorker bagels made with gherkin, mayo and pastrami; to Milkshakes made with fresh fruit; carrot cake; to Elvis toasties; to homemade ginger ale all in all a hearty selection of healthy refreshments and snacks. The cream tea/afternoon tea is a customer's favourite and reasonably priced at £3.25. To be honest it's rare to find somewhere that does a cream tea in Manchester, but that's another story. Marcy enjoys a good solid clientele from all walks of life and age groups. The service is personal and friendly and she knows many of her customers by name and tipple, whether they be business men popping out for a tea break, or students testing out the different exotic blends, or OAP's and families who want to sit down and relax after a bit of heavy shopping and chat over a hearty brew. Definately worth popping in again for another lovongly made bite to eat (sit down or take away). Looks like rthe office peeps using this establishment are very happy also. TL;DR - Possibly the best coffee on this stretch of Oxford Road?…read more Benugo have taken over running the ground floor cafe in the University of Manchester's Simon Building, on the corner of Brunswick Park and Oxford Road - and they're very welcome! The coffee they're serving up is easily some of the nicest you'll find in the area, and is reasonably priced. University staff get 10% off. There's also a nice selection of food on offer - nice pastries, cakes and muffins as you come in, and there's a decent selection of sandwiches and salads available (some of which are hot). I'm a particular fan of the fish finger sandwich - it's just a shame that it's a special which they don't offer every day.

Ending up in Atheron for the recent BentNBongs Beer Festival, I arrived early to have a bit of a…read morescout around only to find that there wasn't what I'd call a massively active foodie scene in town. Which is fair enough as "it is what it is" but after enjoying a quick £2 bacon bap and espresso deal in takeout only Greggs, I was still without somewhere to sit in and shelter from the howling wind and cold. So I nipped down the road and found Jigsaw which was clean, tidy and looked much better than some of the other food outlets in the city. They served reasonably priced sandwiches, cakes etc but I was mostly interested in shelter and a good cup of tea. At this they excelled as I sat at my table reading the paper for half an hour while charging my phone and taking advantage of their reasonably priced pots of tea (Green, mint and breakfast) for £1 - who can argue with that! If I was in town again then I'd definitely head to Jigsaw.

I ordered the afternoon tea for 2 which comprised of a selection of sandwiches, we choose ham and cheese, it came along with salad, crisps, 2 scones with clotted cream and homemade jam, 2 mince pies, and 2 slices of madeira cake. Choice of tea of coffee, we choose tea which came in a huge pot. All this for 6.50. I ordered a small beans on toast for my grandaughter, cost one pound. You can travel a couple of miles down the road and pay over double for this. My only suggestion to Zigsaw would be to advertise this more clearly as I only saw it by chance. We will be coming back. Well done, oh the staff are lovely.
