Char Siu and roast duck
Holly C.

Came here for a quick dinner and it did not disappoint. Ordered their baked pork chop rice, beef chow fun and char Siu and roast duck. Their baked pork chop rice was on point. The pork chop was of nice quality and was meaty (not the ones where they give u mostly fat) on a bed of fried rice. The sauce was authentic and exactly what you will get in Hong Kong. The beef chow fun did not look aesthetically pleasing but it was surprisingly good with a lot of "wok hei". Their roast duck was fresh out of the oven, the skin was crispy and meat was juicy. The char sou however, I thought was a miss as the honey glaze was lacking a little. Our bill came to roughly $70CAD including tips for 3 people which also included a soup and 2 drinks. This is unheard of in nyc as everything is super expensive nowadays. It's also good to note they take credit cards, which is rare in Chinese restaurants. Overall, this is a good option for quick and cheap eats. Food quality and service was surprisingly better than expected.

Cafe de A replaced a long time HK Style BBQ Restaurant and I was hoping the new restaurant would be at least comparable to the previous one ... I'm happy to report that they did a good job and present itself as a strong contender in the very competitive dining scene in Richmond! Hight light items : HK Style BBQ Duck, Roasted Pork and Soy Chicken!! All were up to par with the best ones in town! Also worth mentioning is their Beef Chow Fun! Good portion size and come out pipping hot with Wok Hei! Will for sure check out other items in our next visit!

Took my mom for a quick dinner here as I've tried their breakfast. Typical hk cafe vibes and menu. But service was top notch. Attentive and quick and with a smile. I ordered the baked pork chop rice with milk tea And it was very good. Hearty and big portions and sauce was spot on. Milk team silky smooth and creamy. Came Hot and steaming, just the way i like it. My son ordered the beef Ho fun ( forgot to take pic) - was the most disappointing dish ever. Flavours off. No wok hei. Wrong noodles and wrong sauce. Also tried the bfast combo....amazing they had beef brisket noodle option so had that. Eggs were just scrambled, not silky and wet. The spam/luncheon meat was good and the hasbrown was the frozen variety. Over all, i would repeat but staying away from Any stir friend noodle dishes from Now on. Cheers! Happy eating!

#19. Baked Coconut Chicken Portuguese Style on Rice

I came with a couple of coworkers on my first visit and it turned out to be ok for a newly opened place. Got seated right away, service was friendly. Got the Seafood Chow Mein, and found it quite sparse (maybe because I was quite hungry) but taste-wise, it's average, nothing out of the ordinary. They were able to do separate bills which is always the preferred when dining with coworkers. A month later, we came for our second visit, however, the service seemed to have gone awry. We had a group of six and got seated at the only table for six in the middle of the room right away. Then a few minutes later, another server asked us if we had reservations and we said no. She told us that this table for six is for *person's name* and she wanted us to move. We were like, ok, move us where? She left and came back a few minutes later and said it's ok. Fast forward to ordering--from the get go we asked for separate bills and the server said no problem. After taking our orders, the items starting to come. The drinks that came were all wrong which is fine, we just had to tell them what each of use ordered again. Then the soups that came with out food came, also wrong, so had to tell them what we ordered again. Then the food started to come one by one. I chose the Mix & Match (Mixed Grill) option of Pan fried Chicken Steak + Cutlet Fish Fillet, got the fries, black pepper sauce and cream soup. Hands down, the better value compared to the Seafood Chow Mein I had on my first visit. OR maybe I was just really hungry again. Would I order this again? Probably. Now that everyone finally got what they ordered... and more -- there was hair in one of the dishes. And no, it's not from my coworker's because she's blonde and the hair is black. So we informed one of the servers. She was quite apologetic and told us that she would comp the meal and asked if my coworker would like a new one. Since she's 2/3 in, she's pretty much done and don't want one. After we're done with our meal, we asked for the bill (a number of times). Somehow they just never got around to bringing the bill. And because we had to head back to work soon, we finally got up pay up front. When we got up there, we were told that the server had issues separating the bill. I don't know how it was entered but the items on the bill was all over the place. With the long line up behind and people trying to get a table, I just told them that I would just pay for the whole thing. In the end, we were over charged for the drinks we never ordered. But that's ok. Mistakes happen. New establishment and they're still working out the kinks. I just hope the next visit will be better. I'm hopeful.

The seating situation can also be a bit challenging, especially during busy hours, since the dining area is shared with several other eateries. You might have to walk around for a bit or wait for someone to leave before grabbing a table. But honestly, the food made up for it. The satay beef and fluffy egg sandwich was the highlight for me. The beef had plenty of flavor, the satay sauce was tasty, and that soft, fluffy egg went really well with everything. The bread was soft too, and the whole sandwich just worked. Definitely had that legit Hong Kong-style comfort food taste I was hoping for. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. Seating might take a little patience, but once you get your food, it's worth it. I'd definitely come back, especially for that satay beef and egg sandwich!

Firstly, the attitude and service is absolutely awful (compared to the T Mills location). I'm not sure whether it's because they're located in an Asian mall which gives them this entitlement? Regardless, the cashier was quite rude, which included throwing my change back at me. Some coins even fell to the ground and i had to pick them up. Secondly, they do not allow modification of their ice level even though other similar stores allow it. Also, their iced drinks are smaller in size. The toppings on the noodle was extremely salty. Did the cook shed big crocodile tears? Lol. Anyway, I took the toppings out and gave them a rinse with hot water.

Further to my lunch experience a couple of months ago which wasn't too good, i decided to give…read moretheir breakfast another chance. I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. A to Cs are our usual options and upgrade to French toast. The eggs were somewhat on the drier side and i personally prefer fluffy ones. The beef noodles and the congee continue to be my favorites. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service. Other times, no one comes by at all even when there is no tea in cups, etc.

The dessert at the end was a surprise. Expecting red bean soup but got a Chinese jello instead. Prawns were amazing too. Salted egg flavour and sweet and sour pork had wok hei! Service could be a bit slower but it's a Chinese restaurant. So i get it. Everything was gooood! Portions were generous and the taste on point. The washrooms could use a bit of cleaning as well as the flooring...so had to take away a star. Would go back for sure! Overall tho, good comfort Chinese food at reasonable prices. Cheers! Happy eating!

They are known for pineapple buns with butter and a strong HK milk tea (the way it should be!). Their fried dishes are full of wok-hei flavour, but we did find them to be on the oilier side. Main downsides? Parking in the plaza is awful. During busy times, the line goes out the door. Service is no-nonsense - 45min seating limit, so make your food decision swiftly and don't dilly dawdle.

The humongous butter slice in the middle will kill an individual but it is worth losing some of your life. We also had the egg tart(not the Portuguese kind), Hainanese Chicken rice , pan fried beef noodle all superior to competition. Why 4 stars? 2 reasons 1. Comfort food is well comfort food even if executed well. 2. The vibe - it's in my opening paragraph. It takes away from the experience.

Comes with a bowl of soup instant noodles. The pork chop was same as the one above. The chicken was a whole chicken thigh. Chicken was good. flavourful and well cooked. Soup noodles were fine but got soggy as they always do over time. Side of scrambled eggs with toast - eggs were good. Nice soft cook on it. Came with the noodle bowl as a combo. 2 drinks. All that for $31 all-in and we couldnt finish it between 2 people. Food is a solid 4/5. Service is as you'd expect for a food court stall. People were friendly enough but theyre super busy so they move you along. This is in the President Plaza food court so its definitely dated but totally fine for a simple budget meal. Value of this place is easy 5/5. Would recommend if you're in the area and want some affordable HK cafe food.

This place is basically a HK style cafe + a HK bbq meat shop + a traditional canto restaurant + serving a few malaysian dishes. Its a little wild. Their menu is ridiculously large. Service was actually good for this kind of place. Prompt, efficient, friendly. This is not a place to hang out for a long time. Its really geared for a quick bite and you leave. Chairs arent super comfortable, space is somewhat cramped. Decor is weird and everything is really red. We ordered the combo with a half roast goose. It comes with the half roast goose (we did not need to preorder), a bowl of daily soup for everyone, and 3 traditional chinese dishes you pick from a list. The food: Roast goose - actually pretty good. Skin was thin and crisp, meat was lean but not dry. Comes with house made plum sauce and a bowl of duck sauce. solid 4/5. Cold chicken with black truffle - also pretty good. Ive had this dish at high end chinese places and this place does it almost as good for a fraction of the price. 4/5. Satay beef vermicelli hot pot - fine. Pretty typical, not much to say about it. Beef slices were tender, sauce was decent. On the salty side but not bad. 3/5. Broccoli with scallops - broccoli was well cooked and sauce was fine. The scallops I did not like. They used processed scallops. Clearly little pucks made up of many small scallops and scallop meat processed into the shape of a large scallop. Also tasted off and does not have the texture of an actual large scallop. Also fishy, not sweet. I dont fault them for using a cheap product. This isnt a fine dining place and their food is very reasonably priced. But just use smaller cheaper scallops. Dont use processed stuff. Doesnt taste as good and looks bad. 2/5. Soup of the day - you get a choice of "Russian Borscht" which is the typical HK cafe hot tomato veg soup - not actual russian borscht at all. Or a clear chinese soup broth. I tried a bit of both, they were fine. 3/5. Nothing to write home about but not bad. We also ordered an extra item, their rice steamed in bamboo with your choice of toppings. We chose the minced pork version. When it came out, it was just rice in a regular bamboo steamer with pork on top. Not as pictured with the actual bamboo tube. We asked the server lady and she said they used to use the actual bamboo tube but then people complained the portion was too small, so they switched to a bamboo steamer. The dish was just ok. Excessive rice, not much meat. A few sprigs of choy sum, thats it. Bland. Rice was well cooked though. 3/5. Interestingly they served orange peel tea, no caffeine. They use this flavouring in their roast goose too. Actually tasted pretty good, no charge, and I appreciated no caffeine at night. Free parking in the lot right out front. Overall, food is pretty good, nothing spectacular, but nothing disastrous. Service was good. Easy parking. Immense selection. They even had some Laksa and other malaysian dishes in addition to "western" style chinese food and traditional canto food. pricing was reasonable. I would come back for a quick meal if im in the area. Great option for a casual simple meal or if you're in the mood for HK cafe food.

Everything I was craving. Good amount of sauce, cheese, and fish. Met all my expectations with 50% more in size. 40a shrimps and swirl egg with flat rice noodle - good wok work, the noodles have a nice colour and char from being tossed before sauce was layered on top. I am a hater of peas and was pleasantly surprised it didn't come with it. Perfect texture and flavour, one note that shrimps have a slightly alkaline taste from the marination process. Borscht soup is tomatoey and acidic (not my pref, but well-loved by my boyfriend). Cream soup is rich and not too heavy. HK milk tea and mix with coffee are tasty.
