(where I also wanted to visit Kirke.) on a cobblestoned street. "Café Wilder is one of the oldest and most charming cafés in Christianshavn, and it is always packed with high-spirited regulars. The atmosphere is relaxed, multicultural and multilingual." The food served at Wilder is very good- you will find Danish options such as cod, mussels, steak tartare, grilled duck sausage and burgers. I chose the Vegetarian burger made from Panko fried celery, bread crumbs, raclette cheese, sauerkraut cornichon, onion confit and special sauce. Pommes frites with aioli accompanied the burger. I opted to skip the raclette ( too strong a cheese for me) and the sauerkraut which I'm not a fan. I must admit, this is one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had.. I know it's a pretty powerful statement. Additionally, I dislike celery and was not going to order this, however, I took a chance. I was glad I did as I enjoyed every bite. I chose a Sauvignon Blanc to wash it down , and it too was delicious. The vibe here is very French bistro or if you are a New Yorker, it reminds me very much of Odeon in Lower Manhattan, which I love. There are other menu options which were not offered to me: The Board which consists of amuse bouche, entree and dessert served all day. The service was professional and kind.. I know there are rarely substitutions on the menu as the chef prepares to his vision. But I do wish there could have been a cheese substitute. That is a minor issue. I enjoyed eating in style and relaxing post another Danish tour. Take M1( yellow line) to Christshavn stop and walk toward Wildersgarde, @5 minute walk. It is located on a quiet street.

I enjoyed the experience quite a bit, so much so that I went back to MJ multiple times afterward, including for breakfast and once more for a farewell gløgg. I'm certainly not a gløgg expert, but did have an extensive sampling from various establishments in nyhvn and surrounding areas and believe the gløgg ranks highest for my test preferences here. The sliced almonds and raisins are on the side, allowing you to adjust your own quantities to your own liking. Their breakfast is also very good. Had two of their breakfasts, one where chia bowl and avocado were heavily featured and another with egg, salmon and the works. It is hard to describe because there were so many parts and components. The best analogy I have is a Swiss breakfast kaiseiki or bento box all in the same plate with varying tastes and textures that all together make a wholly satisfying meal and complement each other fully. Truly an instance where the sun is greater than the parts. The coffee and espresso drinks are also excellent. Of note, whatever you want, you must order at the bar. If heat lamps are not on, the staff is good about turning them on above the table you want outside. The inside space is nice and cosy as well. It was closing early, I think a little before ten but not 100% positive if it was earlier or later than that. There are clear open and closing hours and protocols for the city as a whole so things close down on the early side everywhere. Service is slow, but I found that to be the case at many places. This was a little slower than that, but was worth the wait and I knew what my wait times were likely to be, and added additional time mentally to that to avoid my former now-now-now disposition. Blanket/shawls and menus are inside to the left of the door for self-serve or you can wait for staff to come around to bring it to you at your table, but you will have to go up to the bar and order.

I ordered the tea and a oat bar and was happy with my selection but thrown off by the rude service. One of the employees behind the counter was kind and accommodating but the lady taking my order was extremely rude throughout my ordering and payment process - rolling her eyes and ignoring me multiple times. Not sure what I did to offend her (maybe because I'm American ?) but it completely ruined my outlook on the place. The tea and biscuit were very good but also very pricy (60 kr total) There are so many cute cafes throughout the city it won't be difficult to find one with kinder service and better pricing.

It is tucked away, right off Strøget, one of the busiest walking streets in the city. When you walk in, you can order downstairs and sit there, or travel upstairs to sit at a table or on one of the comfy couches. I elected to have my oat milk latte and chocolate croissant upstairs on a couch. I admired the decor and sipped my latte while doing some work. Around dinner, it got a bit busier since they serve actual food here, besides pastries and coffee. At that point, it was a bit louder and less suited for work. So you could come here for either a meal with friends or to enjoy the calm vibes of a coffee shop, depending on the time!
