The brunch was very good. We had the breakfast burger and Lox Benedict. The service was fair once we where sitting at a table. It wasn't busy at all. We liked the old 20's feeling of the place, and will have to try the real wood fire Pizza another time. Overall we will return. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem and surpassed our expectations! While visiting in the area, we came across this place and had the most delicious ravioli. Our waitress was incredible and the absolute sweetest! The wine and mozzarella logs were also a must. A few days later and we are all still raving about the ravioli; it was the best food we had the whole trip! read more

We live in Dansville, and am sorry to say that this restaurant is not one of the better places to eat in town. This was our 2nd, and absolute last, time eating at Tazza. The first time, we weren't horrified, but it wasn't fabulous. So we didn't go back in at least a year. A friend told us that last week he had a great fish fry here, so we agreed to try it again. It was not good. Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't ALL bad. The cheese garlic bread, made with olive oil and cooked in their stone pizza oven, was great...and by far the highlight of the meal. The coconut shrimp was also very good, and my older daughter enjoyed her burger. Everything went downhill from there, a very steep hill. First off, we had a reservation and stood at the door for a few minutes before being seated. They didn't have enough menus for all 4 of us, and the ones we did get were just paper, and had some food spots, but we made do. Then we sat for over 10 minutes before even getting greeted by our server and giving our drink orders. She did come back with them quickly and also took our food order. Here is the rundown of our order.... Hubby and I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer and a fish fry to split. We specifically stressed that we do NOT like the fish to be overly dark because it gets greasy and dried out. We asked for fries and the Caesar salad. Our daughters ordered the cheese garlic bread, pasta Alfredo with chicken, and a burger. Our youngest wanted soup, and they only had French onion, which was fine for her. About 25-30 minutes later, the cheese garlic bread came out...but not our shrimp, salad or soup. When I questioned about the shrimp, the waitress said that she thought we wanted it with our meal...I have no idea how she got that idea as I never said it. I figured that our soup and salad would be along soon.... but no. A little while later she came out with our entrees. The burger looked good, as did the Alfredo...but our fish, that was supposed to be lightly done, was closer to the color of coffee than any fish fry I have ever seen. When my husband tried to cut it, the batter shattered into little pieces, and the fish inside was bone dry...in spite of the grease pooling under it. Needless to say, we sent it back. We asked about the soup and salad, which had obviously been forgotten about, and ate the shrimp while waiting for our meal. Our one daughter enjoyed her burger, but not the fries, and the other said the Alfredo sauce was good, but the chicken had a rubbery texture like it had been precooked, frozen, and then thawed and reheated. She said it tasted like the frozen Tyson chicken strips we have in our freezer at home. Not what you want to hear when you pay $22 for a meal. A little while later, the soup and salad finally arrived. The salad was fine, nothing to write home about, but not bad... but the French Onion soup was mediocre at best. It didn't get eaten. Finally, our new fish came out, with the same (now lukewarm fries), and it was still dark, but slightly better. We still couldn't eat the batter, but the fish itself was at least edible. When we told our server that we were finished, she looked at the plates, with most of the food still on them, and didn't ask why we didn't eat most things, or even if we enjoyed our meal. She just asked if we wanted to-go containers. Even when we said we were only going to take the bread, she didn't even blink...not even at the still very full crock of soup. She brought the to-go, the check, and the credit card machine. She then left, didn't remove any dirty plates, never asked if we wanted dessert, just walked away. We didn't see her again. When the card machine didn't work, we had to grab a different server to help us. Agan, needless to say, we will not go back, and will discourage family and friends from going there. We were very disappointed. There aren't many nice places to eat in Dansville, and it's unfortunate that Tazza, which plays itself off as "fine dining", can't pull it off. We lost $100 on a very sad meal. read more

Not the best dining experience. Some of our party members tried ordering different items on the menu and we where informed the menu was outdated. When they ordered a secondary item they where then told the item was sold out. The food that was served was good but the 2 and a half hour wait for burgers was a little long. read more

Very poor service. Order 2 pizzas for 3 of us. Told waitress wife and daughter was splitting theirs. Finally after 30min asked were the other pizza was, and at that point told them to put it in a box. (ready to leave after being there 70 minutes already!) They comped us for one pizza.!! Now for the quality of the pizza, OK at best, not enough meat on mine for a English muffin size pizza !!! My wife and daughters was very skimpy too.. Not worth the money or even close to reasonable !! The owners have taken care to create a nice atmosphere for dinner, a drink, and meeting up with friends. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is good. It's a refreshingly "upscale" sort of place...the nicest restaurant you'll find in the area. Someone complained about it not being kid-friendly...well, not every restaurant is a Chuck E. Cheese. Caffe Tazza is a serious sit down restaurant with an adult menu, and they do that pretty well. read more

There are a lot of places in Dansville that cater to the backward baseball hat and rock concert t-shirt crowd. This is not one of them. This place is for grown-ups, and it's a welcomed change of pace. Going by the philosophy that it's better to do a few things really well than to do a lot of things just ok, Caffe Tazza's menu is somewhat limited. However, the food we had was fantastic. The Calamari was cooked just right. There was a bit of heat in the batter, and it was countered nicely by the hint of citrus in the dipping sauce that came with it The spaghetti carbonara was not drowning in cream sauce the way so many places in this area make it. It was the perfect balance of crisp bacon and eggs. My wife's lemon and artichoke pasta dish was very tasty. The only complaint is that the bread that accompanied both entrees was served plain. Some olive oil, or even some butter would have been welcomed. On another occasion, I've tried their wood-fired pizza, and was not disappointed. Their style is very thin, but crispy crust. The varieties are not the run-of-the-mill pepperoni. Rather, there were some interesting choices with gormet cheeses and meats and vegetables. Caffee Tazza has an extensive wine list, and a number of craft beers, but fear not, they also have some regular beers for those who prefer a good old Bud. There was live music the night we were there. A single acoustic player who struck just the right tone. Not too overbearing, but not too sleepy either. The interior is very nice. The building looks line a 1920's or 30's era place with the old tin ceiling and crown moldings that create a charming atmosphere. They're working on a back patio. It's not finished yet, but it looks like it will be a fun place to hang out on a warm summer night when up and running. read more

Not a family place. We took our kids with us to have dinner with grandpa. The first issue was they did not have any highchair . what place doesn't have highchairs? So needless to say there was no kid friendly food on the menu. Obviously they do not welcome kids. Why not just put a NO CHILDREN ALOWED sign on the front door? That would make life a little less complicated . my kids were great considering we sat there for 2 hours for our overpriced pizza. read more

Really like the atmosphere here, nice little spot in Dansville. I got the filet mignon special, wrapped in a bacon slice and crusted with blue cheese. It was perfectly cooked medium rare and the roasted vegetables were a great compliment. I got stuck in Dansville with car trouble and had to go eat somewhere and in a town with pretty much nothing, this place is without a doubt, something! It is so much more refined than I was expecting. Such a wonderful wine selection and beer choices abound, I couldn't decide...so I got both! I just went in expecting to get a sandwich but then I saw...the sushi chef! Are you kidding me!?! They have an actual sushi chef right out where you can see him like it is supposed to be. Wood-fired pizza oven? Yup, why not? I had a garlic shrimp appetizer, a Mediterranean pizza and a espresso drenched ice cream thing that was calling my name so I got that instead of sushi but everything I saw looked great. This restaurant would be at home in any of the five boroughs. It's understated and sophisticated, and somebody KNOWS FOOD! We've been here several times over various seasons and marvel anew at the creativity and execution. My hubby adores their pasta, both the pasta and the sauce ( tonight he had carbonara). I can't do carbs, so I opted for the chili and a Greek salad. More on that later. We split the prosciutto-wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese as a starter. Sublime! I'm very picky about my chili and don't usually order it out, but this surpassed all my expectations. Five different kinds of beans, exactly the right amount of ground beef, spiced-but not too much-it was nirvana in a bowl! The Greek salad was fresh, again everything in the balanced proportion. We tend to dine early, so it's not crowded when we're there. I hope it fills up later, 'cause it's too good a restaurant to not make it! Worst experience ever in food service. My boyfriend's company was hosting their holiday party. There were no seats or place settings. After finally standing at the bar for over 10 minutes before being acknowledged, we were given a "we may have some." We were given 2 plates that clearly had food and grease on them, I'm assuming what the pizza was served on. Those working were hard to find and acted as if it was a chore to help customers. Not worth the hassle for the overpriced drinks or the food (from what it looked like, as I was unable to eat). Also, for the second year in a row, the amount of food that was offered for the amount of people who rsvp'd was grossly underestimated. If this is the level of service for a company event, I would hate to see the service for a dinner for 2. Fortunately, I have been saved from the wasted trip. read more
