So this is probably the best coffee option in Bothell, if you arent willing to drive farther.Its a comfy environment w/ wifi and cushy seats. With that said, the most important factor, the coffee is really just ...meh.. Snacks and service tend to follow suit. Actually all these aspects seem to be getting worse the longer this place is in existence. We usually hit this place after lunching in downtown Bothell. Its pretty consistently understaffed during this time of day. Often one person is struggling to work the drive thru, the bar, and the register. Not suprisingly, this often results in a with a less than satisfactory cup of coffee. After a couple of scorched soymilk lattes I have resigned myself to drip coffee or cocoa as the lesser evil of my options. They have some really yummy looking cupcakes and coffee cake. But last time I got a cupcake to go, it was horribly stale. This was pretty dang disapointing when I dug into it back at the office and has successfully put me off the baked goods. Like I said, the place seems to be suffering overtime. I was pretty excited when Lladro opened this location, given the Starbucks saturated coffee landscape around here. When it first opened I probably would have given it a 4 star rating, but at this rate this place is going to be like every other drive thru coffee shack on the Eastside in a couple more years. read more

I once applied to work here and couldn't because I was leaving the country, but I got a chance to hang out with Brent, the owner - and if you meet him, you'll know why his small-but-growing business is doing so well. Cafe Ladro has it all! The atmosphere is very modern Italian, clean and fresh. Inside is a relaxing green room with comfy chairs and "coffee house" music. Outside are a few nice tables and chairs with umbrellas for enjoying the sunshine while enjoying your coffee or one of many of the pastries they have available. The baristas are super friendly and the most important part.....THE COFFEE IS AMAZING! I myself am a Starbucks lover, but Cafe Ladro may have switched me over. Café Medici is from heaven and what everyone should try in a coffee experience. Brilliantly expressed espresso enriched with luxuriously heated milk, chocolate, perfected foam, and infused and topped with orange zest. Very nice. I love the atmosphere, it is very cozy. You feel like you are welcome and at home. A cool thing is they sell art! The art is expensive but, it is pretty to look at (which is free!) One of the benefits is there are a few bus routes near by if you are too over-caffinated to drive. The espresso cupcakes are so good. The coffee is a tad on the bitter side but, put a packet of sugar in it and it is YUM! When I took the top off of my drink I noticed there was a cute leaf pattern in the foam! These guys must really take pride in what they do to make a pattern like that in a to-go cup. The coffee is fair trade here also. read more

It's a rainy morning in and around Seattle and I'm sitting here @ Ladro in Bothell. This is my first time to the one here though I've been to Ladro downtown on Union, in downtown Bellevue, and in West Seattle. The coffee is about as good as the other places, but the people working here this morning were deep into their conversation (about someone who had cheated on his wife before they were married), and didn't seem to talk to the customers very much as people came up to order. The environment is pretty nice. Jack Johnson is currently playing and there are plenty of places to sit and hang out. There is a garage door and large windows that could be opened if the weather was nicer. I'll most definitely come back, particularly because I don't care for Starbucks. I have been here multiple times both as a drive-thru customer and as a dine-in. I love their vegan oat bar, it's one of my favorites. I had breakfast sandwich here and it was ok. I mainly would come for the coffee because it was so delicious and I like how the vanilla, pumpkin spice and whites chocolate are all homemade. However, the last couple times I came I felt like the coffee was just ok. I also found out they got rid of their rewards programs so now there is no way to earn free drinks. This used to be my favorite coffee shop but I haven't been back since. read more

I have frequented this location for around 6 months now, visiting at least once (if not twice) a week. It has become a part of my routine - and, needles to say - I have enjoyed most of my visits to this Ladro location, and miss it when I do not come around as noted. Pros: - The location is convenient, off of Bothell-Everett Highway, right near WA-522 / Bothell Way NE. Perfect to stop in for when leaving Bothell towards both Woodinville or Seattle, etc. - It has lots of natural light and windows, giving it a very roomy feel. - It is usually not terribly busy, crowded, or noisy. - The coffee is good, and is agreeably priced. - The pastries are numerous, varied, and include savory options. - There is free WiFi. - There is a drive-through option. Cons: - Choices in pastry depend on the time of day, as well as traffic. Sometimes there are 10 plus options, but sometimes there are only three! - I find the restrooms always slightly messy or dirty, though never fully disgusting. I recommend cleaning them more often, or with more detail. - The arrangement of furniture / ambiance seems more like an after-thought in this location, therefore not creating a "hip artisan coffeeshop" vibe like, for example, its Capitol Hill location. But, for the Bothell clientele, perhaps this atmosphere is more accessible. - There is very limited designated parking. All and all however, thank you for existing here! I indeed look forward to my Ladro stops on my way back from working hard at my hobby! read more

Dropped by Caffe Ladro yesterday for an afternoon pick-me-up and a quiet break from work. Very pleased! It's a quaint, comfortable coffee shop near downtown Bothell. There are plush chairs for relaxing and tables for enjoying your food or to place your laptop. The outdoor area was a perfect mix of sun and shade surrounded by large trees! They also had a drive-through. The coffee was tasty, not too bitter. Didn't try any pastries but they looked tasty! read more

Nothing particularly stood out to me. From service, to coffee, to pastry; all just fine. Which is, you know, always preferable to awful.

We gave Cafe Ladro a try. The coffee was bitter and tasted burnt. The people behind the counter looked like they haven't showered in days. Nor did they care whether or not they got your order right. Then we noticed their little sign on the cash register: "If you don't spend more than $10 and use your credit card, you'll be charged 50 cents." This is an illegal. Any business who does this is in violation of their agreement with the credit card companies. How do I know this? I've been in the banking business for 15 years. Ladro is also Italian for thief and I can see why they named this place Cafe Thief. read more

After a half an hour of waiting in the drive thru at Caffe Ladro, my friend and I were positive we had to be on an episode of MTV Boiling Points. On our way to get some pumpkins to carve, we decided to stop by Caffe Ladro for a nice cup of hot chocolate. There were two cars in front of us in the drive thru, no big deal. We pull up to the speaker to order, after two minutes of silence, the barista acknowledges that we are there and tells us to wait a minute. 5 minutes later, she comes back to take our order. At this point, we were having a good ole time in the car, so it was no big deal. 20 minutes later, we are still in the drive thru. Finally, the car in front of us is pulling forward, and we are thinking, "SWEET, WE'RE OUT OF HERE! How long can it take to make a hot chocolate?" Wrong. We sit for another 10 minutes at the window, without even being acknowledged, before the snotty barista hands us our lukewarm drinks without even saying, "HEY THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE" or "SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT". She didn't even tell us the total of our drinks and just grabbed my friends card, which she then proceeded to charge almost twice the amount, because she charged us for flavored lattes instead of two hot chocolates. Upon asking for an itemized receipt, the barista was very rude, and then realized it was her mistake that there were lattes on the receipt, and said she would return the transaction and rerun it. She gave us no receipt stating that she credited the difference to my friends card, but she did give us a receipt that showed she charged us again for the CORRECT amount. As she handed my friends card back for the second time, she shut the window and stormed off. No thank you, no have a good night, nothing. I have never been treated so rudely at an establishment at which I have spent money, and don't know how they can stay in business if they treat their customers like that. Went here in the morning on my birthday and asked for a blended iced mocha with rice milk and was asked 2 times if I wanted soy powder and said no both times as I can not consume soy. It's such a bummer to have to give such a bad review, because I actually love Ladro's coffee, but this location is terrible. We still stop here occasionally because they are close by and offer organic milk, but almost every experience is negative. At best, they're slow. Even when the shop is empty, it takes 5-10 minutes to get your drink. The staff is rarely friendly, as if they're doing us a favor. We avoid it these days, sadly! read more

In an endless sea of Seattle coffeehouses, (and you know who I'm talking about!) Caffe Ladro stands above them all. The flavor of their coffee is deep and complex, the drinks are delectable. The Medici is a must have, it tastes like a Toblerone chocolate orange, the pumpkin spice latte and blended coffees put the lowly Starbucks PSL and Frappuccino to shame. I'm giving this place 5 stars because it's the only place I've ever been to in Bothell that helps me forget I'm living in the 'burbs. Bothell pretty much sucks for feeling like you belong to a community of any kind, but I've always had friendly encounters when I come here. I'm not too picky about my coffee and I really come to coffee shops to enjoy the atmosphere, so this place gets my vote! The baristas have always been very friendly and my coffee has always been pretty good (but I tend to come at the same time, so maybe it's just that the evening baristas are more consistent)! Best thing about this place is that they have butterhorns! We've been hunting all over trying to find them. They have delicious teas out on display so you can smell them before picking the flavor you want. The lattes are okay, not extremely flavorful. We have been here a few times, but only at the drive thru. Each time, after getting to the window, we have been ignored for at least 2-3 minutes. Once someone does finally come to the window, they barely say hello (the last person we dealt with just said hello), before a clipboard is put through their window to sign for the purchase. There isn't even a "thank you" once we sign. This is complete and total customer service failure. I want to support local businesses, especially with all the construction going on around downtown Bothell, but this behavior towards a customer isn't at all acceptable. We won't be back and we most certainly will not recommend anyone to this coffee shop. read more

On the plus side, it's not starbucks, so I feel good about going here and supporting a local business. The decor inside is nice, it's clean, and they have a nice patio area outside. Also, free-wifi. On the negative side- they are very expensive! I drink a lot of coffee, and they are the most expensive place I have ever been to (more than even starbucks or tullys)- and it's only subpar coffee. The last time I went there, the workers were complaining loudly about a coworker who was late, and when she got there, they started reprimanding her, again, loudly. Coffee is average, customer service is BELOW average. Prices vary depending on who rings you up. My cup is sometimes full, sometimes half full. Order a cold drink without ice, they subtract the amount of ice they would give you so you get a cup filled 5/6ths of the way -- sometimes. Again, it depends on who helps you. Most employees seem like artists or students totally uninterested in their jobs. read more
