This is a cute place I visited in downtown Bryan. We got there around 6:30 PM and were seated immediately. The bread that they gave us in the beginning was really good! I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and we got free a free ravioli from using the check in! The service was pretty quick which is great. However, I thought the food was just okay. The serving size is pretty decent, but the pasta seemed really bland to me and I couldn't eat too much of it. I do want to come again and try something else on the menu because everything looked good. read more

A nice place to keep it casual or dress it up a little bit on a night out, Caffe Capri serves up some standard pasta fare in the heart of downtown Bryan. AMBIANCE I could tell this was a BCS favorite upon walking in -- even with the rain pouring outside one evening the place was completely packed. It might be a cute place for date night during a less busy hour but I'm not sure if those would be very common. Dimly lit, open bar, tall booths and a rustic feel make for a nice interior. APPS Eventually we were sat down. Thanks to Yelp we got free fried ravioli upon check in (whoop!) to pair with the complimentary bread + olive oil/balsamic dip. I will never complain about free carbs, especially when it comes with additional dip on the side. Those slices were thick and yummy, albeit untoasted. MAIN I got the baked penne, which came out in a monstrous, cheesy, glorious portion. I wished there was more chicken just so I could get a little more bang for my buck, but otherwise I promise that this dish will satisfy your cheese tooth. Thought the additional pepperoni slices were a little random, the dish could probably do without. DESSERT The chocolate toffee mousse cake was delicious, almost fudge in cake form. Nothing remotely light or airy about it, but definitely chocolatey. I'd recommend changing the name of the dish to something less misleading. Tiramisu wasn't as moist as I thought it would be either but it was a busy night. SERVICE Our server was sweet but she definitely messed up our bills not once, not twice, but three times. I don't like to call people out unless they do a good job but I have to say we were a little disappointed by the carelessness. All in all I wasn't really blown away by Caffe Capri and I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but seeing as how they seem to have deals going on all the time I wouldn't be against returning if a friend suggested it. read more

I wanted to give this place a great review or even good for that matter but if I'm going to continue to look at this mug of mine in a mirror then let me be honest with my avid followers. First off, this restaurant seems to be a popular destination and by all accounts a nice family establishment. Upon our arrival we were immediately greeted and seated by the owner of the business and our waiter suggested we try an appetizer from their menu which I admired the training and upsell behind that! We were informed that the calamari was good whereas I asked was it the body and tentacles? Our waiter said it was just the rings since they'd tried having both before but people would push the tentacles to the side. At this point I figured "What the heck!" and ordered the calamari rings. Our order came out with a decorative small fry basket and over/under coated calamari rings with a tomato dipping sauce. I asked a cook for lemon and overall the calamari was tender but not what I'd define as restaurant standard quality. Moving on the better half ordered Fetuchinni Alfredo and I got the Eggplant Parmigiano. My wife's pasta was not al'dente but very undercooked, pasta stuck together and a soupy sauce. The waiter asked if my wife wanted Parmesean Cheese so I asked if it was basic Parmesean or Reggiano? Our poor waiter looked at me like I asked him what came first the olive tree or the olive but then replied it was cheese in a canister they had. Moving on to my dinner choice I received a plate with spaghetti covered with a soupy white sauce however it was different then my wife's. On top of the pasta was 2 very thin 4"x 2" peices of oily breaded eggplant. Between was a thick slice of mozzarella and the entire thing had a red tomato sauce on it. In my life I've eaten at many good and bad restaurants and I'm of Italian Euro Heritage so I've grown up with, cooked and served restaurateurs my food and I've never had a disappointed tasting! Where I'm going is "WHY!!" would you have a White Sauce and a Red Sauce on the same entree plate!? Please enlighten me! For an advisement extra Capris has an oil/Balsamic dip on the table that should have fresh herbs and a reduced Balsamic as opposed to whatever they currently are using. Also, bread is served that I took is made in the restaurant from the smell and texture that's a nice touch! The only professional comment I'd suggest is "Let your bread proof longer!" Other then the aforementioned verbal diarrhea I'd say if you want Italian Food that's very plain and simple of no specific flavor profile of any region of Italy then Capris your go to spot! read more

I alternate getting the tortellini alla capri and the seafood ravioli when I come here. The pastas are all heavy on the sauce which can be very off putting. Like the wall outside says, "I love carbs" that's how it's like dining here. The restaurant interior is very cozy and cute and coming here for birthdays or events is nice. They accommodate well with large groups. I've had the tiramisu here as well for dessert and it's decent (also shareable). read more

Looking for great Italian food at affordable prices! Caffé Capri is the place. If you are alone, on a date or in a group. This place fits the bill. With all the awesome dishes. I go for the Key West and Bowtie Affair. It's hard to pick just one. Some of my favorite meals are Key West, Bow tie Affair and of course Lasagna. Also they have the best Egg Plant I have ever tried. Also have several wines to choose from. Everyone I have brought here for lunch or dinner has been very pleased. Give them a try. read more

I am sad to say I will not be returning here. I went here after reading other yelp reviews and felt excited for some good Italian food away from home. Unfortantlg I am unsure what I would call this but I am positive it isn't Italian good. First, let me start with the positives- the building location is easy to find and it has decent curb appeal. The service was okay, our waitress had us repeat our order 4 different times but I'm assuming she just had a long day- she was very nice but it was a bit teadious on the fourth pass having to order again. The bad- the food. Please see the picture, believe it or not, I ordered chicken parm. When I received it I asked our waitress what it was, she confirmed that it was chicken Pam. The chicken-it was fried rather than baked and it was beyond flavorless, the sause was the same consistency as water (talk about watering your sause down and cutting corners), and the noodles were gnocchi noodles rather than spagatti. Yes you read that correct and it was as bad as it sounds. Simply put- this is not Italian food. They cut corners. This is very bad. Do not eat here, not worth any amount of money. read more

I have been eating at Caffe Capri since I was a student at A&M. Rami is a genuine and hospitable owner that cares about his clientele...that attitude really stands out for me as many small business owners do not take the time to show their appreciation. Caffe Capri stands in an OLD renovated grocery store where only the tinned ceiling remains of the original building. The restaurant granite tables were made from the material found in an older condemned building in Bryan. Now, I'll be honest...after spending 3 months in NJ, the Texas Italian just doesn't compare...however, as far as italian food goes, Caffe Capri is the best around...especially in all of BCS. The prices haven't changed since Rami opened...$11 for Chicken Parmigiana with generous portions...that's a steal. $6 Calamari and $5 mozzarella sticks...the value for what you get is phenomenal. If you don't like something...there's a large menu for a reason and you just aren't ordering the right things. There is something here for everyone. Everyone gets free bread as an appetizer and our drinks were never empty. I noticed they have a tenured staff as some of the waiters and waitresses I noticed from when I started going here about 6 years ago. It's a staple of the Bryan community, a great place for a "cheap" yet semi-romantic date and you won't leave hungry. Definitely proud to give them 5 stars. read more

Came for my 2nd time on First Friday and LUCKILY seated right away in the only 5-seater I noticed, right by the door. Don't know what the difference between the two visits was, but I was served bread and olive oil/vinegar this time but not last time. It was good. Had the meatballs app, we split them in half and shared them. Those were yummy too. I believe they changed their menu for Tortellini alla Capri to "surimi crab" which means imitation/fake crab, so I'm not entirely mad about the surprise I had my first visit. Still wish they used (real) shrimp like the old menu. Everything was delicious. The waitress seemed new though. She set down our entrees before taking up any of our little plates, the bread or appetizers. The table was already crowded. Overall still 4-star bc it's a tasteful, popular place and they are busy. read more

Rami & team are so wonderful! They were so accommodating during the pandemic when we needed individual boxed meals for some events. I also love that there is the opportunity to change a cream-based sauce to one with coconut milk - makes a dairy allergy not a problem! Also has GF pasta. The reason for my 3 star review is due to the inconsistency of food taste. The first time that I had it (I always get Cajun fettuccine with Italian sausage) it was perfect and I could not stop talking about it. Then I came back a second time and it was okay like a bowl full of sauce to the point of dripping, soupy. The third time it was again good and not watered down. I even order a second to go home with along with a sandwich. Sandwich was okay. This last visit, pasta sauce was soupy again, a bowl filled with sauce. The bread was fresh. I don't like pasta drowning in sauce. And the Cajun Alfredo sauce seemed to be reduced with water to make it soupy. I was disappointed. Idk if they've changed cooks, but I'll wait a while before I go back again. read more

I came here for a lunch and found this place mediocre. They have quite a few lunch specials around $7-10. So, while it can get pricy here for dinner, a quick lunch isn't too bad. Also, if you check in on yelp, they do give you a free toasted ravioli appetizer. So, the toasted ravioli wasn't quite what I was expecting. Considering I used to live in St. Louis, I really was hoping for a more traditional midwestern dish. Yes, it wasn't quite traditional, but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the Southern take on this classic. It's got a bit more heavy seasoning and instead of marinara sauce, they serve it with a ranch cream based one. While the entrees are pretty average, I do have to highly recommend the Kahlua chocolate torte. That dessert is definitely worth just a special trip up here. It's like heaven on a plate. Well, considering it has espresso, chocolate, and Kahlua, how can it be bad? All in all, decent find and I will be back here soon. read more

Friends told us this place was great. No so much. Bread was very good. Tomato bisque did not have tomato flavor. Only pieces of sun-dried tomatoes on bottom of bowl. Chicken Parmesan sauce also lacked tomato flavor. The chipotle chicken sandwich was on a good ciabatta bread but otherwise was tasteless. Where was the chipotle? Can't recommend. Even though caffe Capri was my husband and my first real date, it's definitely over rated for what it is. It's expensive considering what you get. They start out with table bread with olive oil/balsamic. The bread is fine but nothing to rave about. It's not as good as comparable places in town. I got the lobster pasta which was pretty good- a larger size than I remember but literally was only sundried tomatoes and some lobster pieces- there wasn't enough sauce on the pasta and the lobster definitely wasn't generous. The service was good so points for that! I spent a lot of money considering the quality of food that I received. My other friend got their signature pasta with the artificial crab and it was funny because there was way more crab than pasta. She didn't even like crab so not sure why she ordered it but she was done with the actual pasta in just a few minutes. Another friend got some skinny entree which definitely was a mistake- too bland she said but I guess she shouldn't expect super flavorful if it's called the skinny option. She added pasta to it but there wasn't any sort of pasta sauce or any sauce on the dish. They should make some sort of olive oil garlic sauce or something light that could still be considered on the skinny side but actually add some flavor. I think the ambiance of this place is nice- very quaint but food is sub par especially for the price. I know it's local and I am a big fan of supporting local businesses but there are plenty of better local places to try :) also, I wasn't impressed with the owners response to previous negative reviews- it didn't seem very professional but bottom line, food isn't worth the cost in my opinion. read more

I hold my same stance on the bread and the spicy ravioli appetizer from my previous post. But we decided to give Caffe' Capri a second chance and it impressed us. Maybe they were less busy, maybe there was a different cook on shift; not sure, but we had a much better dining experience. The service was just right. The main factor that motivated the review update was the entrees. I ordered the eggplant parm (again, yet I did not realize I had ordered this on our previous visit. Maybe that makes my rating more accurate). It was delicious! Could have been a tad more seasoned, but I was surely satisfied. My husband ordered the chicken parm and felt the same way. Yummy, but a little bit bland. After tonights visit, we would reconsider adding Caffe' Capri into the cycle of "regular" spots we dine at. read more

1st time trying this place but it won't be the last. We have always wanted to try it but never got around to it but today on the BCS Meals & Deals Facebook group they had a picture of their spaghetti with shrimp special and we just had to try it. It was sooooo good!! It did say spicy and that it was but not overwhelming. We added chicken to it and it was all perfectly balanced. We also ordered the Key West pasta and added chicken it was also so good. The hint of lime flavor was very different and unexpected but it made the meal perfect. The only thing we would have changed would be to have the pasta cooked just a tad bit more but other than that every single bite was wonderful!!!! read more

Caffe Capri....evokes very mixed feelings. I want to give it a good review, mostly from the good service, reasonable prices, and really neat interior and ambiance of the restaurant. Sadly, the actual food leaves something to be desired. Appetizers are okay....we had garlic bread and calamari, with a decent bottle of Pinot Noir. Good but nothing special. The lasagna is a bit blah, just a basic lasagna. Our dining companions had the eggplant parmesan and Cajun tortellini and said they were good. I lucked out and ordered the tastiest dish at the table...a seafood ravioli with a light cream sauce. Very yummy and a portion large enough to fill you up but not leave you in a food coma. :). Takeaways: Cool vibe, good service, really variable food quality. I guess go for the Seafood Ravioli? (only $13) Think I'll need to try it again to see if there are more things worth ordering off the menu. read more

My mom and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We got there right when they opened and had no wait. When we sat down, it did take a few minutes before a waitress came over, and that repeated several times during our time. We didn't get any bread on the table, though we had the oil dish, and so we ordered garlic bread. It took a while to get from the counter to our table (we could see it sitting there). Our drinks were only refilled once at the end after being empty for most of the time. The food was good, we both got fettuccine alfredo. The waitress kept getting distracted by other tables and servers. When we got the check she made my mom nervous because she watched her swipe the credit card multiple times on the machine. We thought she must have made a mistake, but then she didn't say anything when she brought it back. She apologized for all the waiting. We wouldn't have minded if we hadn't heard/watched her be very intentional and attentive to a bigger party right next to us, and the fact the restaurant wasn't busy. The decor is cute, and maybe if we had sat near the windows we would have liked the experience more because we could have been entertained watching the street rather than watching our food sitting on the kitchen counter at various stages. We didn't have a bad experience, if someone suggested this place we would go again, but we wouldn't try to bring people here. read more

Sad part- worst Alfredo sauce I've ever had... I'm sorry but ever. Added salt, pepper more salt and pepper added 10x more salt but still bland. Not a fan and would not recommend. For some reason Italian restaurants here just aren't that good. I got the Chicken Parmesan over Tortellini. The chicken was very small and there was too much breading and not enough seasoning, but it was okay, not terrible. However, the tortellini was absolutely horrible. It tasted just like the tortellini you get at the store, but frozen and the cheese filling on the inside tasted like freezer burn. The tomato sauce use was okay, but again, nothing to call home about. My friend got the lasagna, which was also very small and not anything special. However, service was good the atmosphere was dark and tries to be a lot more high class than it actually is. The bread is delicious though, it's warm fresh out of the oven and very soft. It has a light coating of garlic oil and they give you herbs in olive oil to dip in. read more

This hole in the wall Italian joint is great! The spicy ravioli is killer (make sure you check in on yelp - it's free). The staff and owner are incredibly friendly and know the menu well.
