Our family had dinner here last Saturday night during our visit to Bryan. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. What a wonderful surprise! My wife and I go to Caffe Capri 3 times a month. It's our go-to for a weeknight dinner. Caffe Capri is great because it's location is neat. Always has an interesting crowd, artwork on walls and a really cool interior space. You start things off with a half of a baked baguette brushed with olive oil. What's Interesting and may be to save money, is that the olive oil is mixed with balsamic vinegar for dipping. My Italian family always had bread on the table for meals and if we dipped it in oil, it was oil with herbs and garlic, not balsamic. But alas, bread on the table to dip before meals is necessary and helps get things going . Their appetizers are great with an affordable glass of wine. We always do the Fried Calamari with marinara. You have a lot of choices that are pretty unusual Italian pairings, but they have good flavors. Cream sauce, red sauce and Cajun sauces. Local sausage added into the tortellini. What was very unusual was the chicken parmigiana. It was good, but not your typical chicken cutlet breaded and baked. Tenders, fried and served over tortellini with the cream and red sauce mixed. Caffe Capri is indulgent. It's not bistro food. It's all of the things you like about Italian food taken to the max. Pretty large portions and lots of carbs. Hence, the sign out front. Every time we have gone, we leave satisfied usually toting leftovers. I will say, that our last visit (5/3/17 6:30 PM) the red sauce tasted like the cook dropped a cigarette in it. Off flavors. Because they put the red sauce on everything, all of our dishes tasted kinda off. Other than that, it's a laid back restaurant that can be whatever you want it to be. If you want to get dressed up and have a nice date night, Caffe Capri is a good choice. Or if you want to go in your shorts and flip flops for some fettuccine, you'll fit right in. Overall, it's not God's gift to Italian food. However, it is unique, charming and satisfying. Definitely worth going. read more

It's been 9 years since we started eating here.. it is that same delicious flavor! I'm so glad there is this gem hasn't changed its excellence with food, service and hospitality. If you're in BCS this restaurant MUST absolutely make it to your "to do" list. Today we went with 3 different red wines while we waited patiently for 1 hit and 45mins on First Friday (that tells you they have a small but diverse collection). Then we got the yelp free spicy ravioli appetizer for checking in, it was excellent. We also got the cheese garlic bread.. it's this cheesy flatbread with marinara type dipping sauce. We all opted for our favorite Cajun ravioli followed by their tiramisu and port wine. I have to say the food was excellent but it was made even better by the superb service. Every restaurant comes to test on their hospitality and service quality on busy nights.. being the last customers on one of their busiest Nights I can say they surpassed expectations! read more

A group of friends and I went for a birthday dinner and immediately got rude looks from some of the employees. The whole time we all felt very unwelcome and judged from a distance. I'm not sure how I've not reviewed this place until now. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time and most definitely in the College Station/Bryan area. The food here is phenomenal. The owner, Rami, is young, energetic, and very in tune with his clientele. He makes sure to keep his menu fresh and constantly changing so you can always find new favorites. I always, always, always get the tortellini alla capri--it is heavenly. They have a great wine selection and local art on the walls that you can buy. I believe there's an upstairs for private parties and a great bar to sit at. You don't usually need a reservation and the dress code is lax, so this makes it a perfect place to go after a quick concert at the Palace Theater, going down for First Fridays, or just hanging around downtown Bryan. Again, I love supporting local places and this is an ol' Ag running the place, so you gotta love that. Trust me, you'll enjoy filling yourself with all the delicious pastas they have overflowing from their menu. I went to Cafe Capri with my husband's parents because his mother said that Cafe Capri was her favorite place in town. Naturally, I got excited, especially when they told me it was housed in a historic building in downtown Bryan. All I can say is, we could have gone to the Olive Garden and gotten the exact same thing. Our server was nice, but didn't know anything about the wines. I asked her about a particular one, and all she could say was, "I like it." Um, OK. If this is the best place to eat in Bryan, then I feel very, very sorry for the fine citizens of Bryan, TX. read more

I graduated from A&M in 2011 and during my 4 years in College Station, this was by far my favorite restaurant. I got so obsessed with it that I started ordering takeout from it every Friday my senior year. The lasagna is the best lasagna I have ever had in my life. I am still looking for a replica of that dish somewhere but nothing has ever tasted the same. I think it was ths sweetness of the sauce in combination with the heavy amount of ricotta. There were a few other items on the menu that I would occasionally order, but the lasagna was my favorite! Another favorite of mine was the bread and oil that they served before the meal. The bread is crunchy and the oil is laced with balsamic vinegar. The balsamic adds a nice flare to the what-would-be normal olive oil. Finally I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's tucked away in a trendy area of downtown Bryan and the building itself is unique. It is filled with old world wall paper, textured ceilings and unique art work. My memories of college will always include Cafe Capri! I'm pretty sure I went on every first date there. read more

Caffe Capri (there's supposed to be two F's, yo) also has nice tea, a decent wine list, all the usual Italian-American favorites, acceptable bread with olive oil and balsamic, prices 30% lower than in Seattle, and relaxed, homey vibe. Heard from locals that the food was great & authentic, so I figured I would give it a shot. The ambiance and service were great. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Before you read any further, note that I am highly critical of Italian food as I am first generation and was raised on it... the food was ok at best. The bread was decent, salad was average and the meal had good flavor, but wasn't cooked properly. One main indicator of how good an italian joint is, is the quality of their meatball. The taste wasn't bad, but the texture was off. If I were to go back, I wouldn't order again. I ordered the chicken parm, which had good flavor, but the chicken was severely overdone. The pasta was also overcooked. Who ever created the recipes, needs to get back in the kitchen and do some qualiity control and retrain the cooks. read more

Scrumptious food! This cute little restaurant has 5 star fare. The menu isn't lengthy, but I can never decide between the many delicious options! Last Thursday we were able to add a $15 bottle of wine to our meal, which was a great bargain. I recommend everything so far, and enjoy the bread and olive oil served before the meal. I haven't been here since a catered party a couple of years ago, so I was really looking forward to some yummy Italian food. Although the staff was SUPER nice and friendly, service was slow. The water was warm and the meatballs were cold. The bread, that we had to ask for, seemed store-bought and they didn't have black olives or Prosecco. :( Hopefully next time we return it will be better. I had high hopes for Cafe Capri because it came highly recommended, it isn't a big chain, and it is located in Downtown Bryan, a part of the Bryan/College Station area that is trying to become the cool, artsy part of town. I don't know if it was because of my high hopes, but I was let-down. Cafe Capri's menu included most of the classics, and they tried to put their own spin on the dishes, but I have a feeling it wouldn't have mattered what I ordered. I like to make the comparison between Duncan Donuts and most Italian places. It doesn't matter what donut you order, it tastes the same. Cafe Capri was just good enough for the one visit, but as far as I'm concerned, the search for good Italian food continues. First, I would prefer to give Caffe Capri a 3 1/2 star. I enjoy the main dishes at Caffe Capri and find them to be very tasty. I love that they offer several vegetarian options. I wish more restaurants would offer a meal with or without meat. However, I find their house salad to be pathetic... it's iceberg lettuce, with 1 slice of onion, and some carrots... if you are lucky. Why be cheap on the salads? The bread is okay. Also, their hours are not the best. I would probably go more often if they were open more. Overall, the food is good, the atmosphere is good and the service is good. If you are in Downtown Bryan, I recommend checking it out, if the line isn't long. read more

Really wanted to like this place, especially given recent reviews. Perhaps it was just an off night, but both food and service were disappointing. Our food was very bland, and one dish was cold and inedible; ended up getting another dinner elsewhere. They also seemed a bit understaffed, which likely explains the service part. The decor and ambiance are definitely cute though, but we will not be returning. read more

In a word, Caffè Capri is good. Not amazing. Not great. Just consistently and decently good. A fine choice for a weeknight dinner, a comfy date night, or a family dinner. When I go, I am happy enough with my order and wine choices. The food arrives promptly and the music is not too loud. The manager does take the time to make sure you're happy and I appreciate that. The last time I visited for dinner, I had an unpleasant experience when trying to modify my order. From previous visits, I know that they are more than generous with their pasta and complimentary bread helpings so I made a weak attempt to order "low carb." I know that sounds ridiculous for an Italian place but they are so nice I thought they'd be happy to oblige. I should have been tipped off by the "I (heart) Carbs" shirts that this was not going to end well. I ordered the eggplant parmesan dish with no pasta and my waiter was dumbstruck. "You just want a chunk of eggplant?" "Yes, please." As he left, my friends noted that he made that dish sound extra appetizing. When he returned, he happily announced my friend's plates and reminded me that I ordered "just an eggplant." It's a shame that he seemed so upset by my order because he took away some of the joy I felt in eating it. The eggplant was thick and tender. The sauce was tangy. I didn't order any dessert. Point is, this is and will continue to be an establishment College Station because it's good. Just don't go in there trying to eat low carb. read more

Caffe Capri has been apart of my life since I was 6 years old (now I'm a 25). Crazy that I'm only writing a review on it now, perhaps I'm biased but my family has gone here since it opened in 1995. Rami, the owner, has been one of the kindest restaurant owners we've known and William one of the most enjoyable waiters ever. Always make us feel so at home and welcomed in his restaurant of family recipes. I have enjoyed the food here since I was young, and still continue to enjoy it whenever I visit my parents (I now live in Fort Worth and still enjoy Rami's italian cuisine the most. From the bread with the olive oil garlic sauce to the calamari appetizers and of course every single entree we've ordered, has never disappointed me. Nowadays though I'm a stickler to tradition (seeing how I now live out of town) and always order Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and Mushroom because it's my fave. Simple but does the job every time. The Kahlua Cake is an intense beast of dense chocolatey goodness, delicious nonetheless. Tiramisu is my other favorite dessert. I'm giving this place 3 stars because I think it might be the best Italian food College Station has to offer (for the price), which is not really a huge compliment since it's in competition with Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's. The menu does have a decent selection. The lasagna leaves a lot to be desired. It was drowned in tomato sauce with hardly any meat or cheese. The cajun tortellini I had wasn't so much cajun-- it was just loaded with what tasted like a ton of black pepper-- decent though. I did like the fresh bread we were given but was disappointed that on my last visit they didn't give us the oil&balsamic they normally do. I don't know if they just stopped giving it out all together or if our waiter just forgot.... The prices are reasonable though and the portion size is decent. As for the decor, it's appealing but the actual inside of the restaurant is shaped like an elongated alley with random paintings on the wall. The bar is the length of the dining area and is pretty long yet there is no seating there. Plus they only have wine so it's pretty much a waste of a lot of space. read more

Without a doubt the best Italian food in B/CS and definitely in the top five of local eats in the area. I have been gong to Caffe Capri forever (more than ten years) because I love it so and always make it a point to eat there when I go back "home." The quaint restaurant is a trend setter for setting up shop in a then less than tidy downtown area. I am so thankful for visionaries like Rami for setting the restoration of downtown Bryan in motion. Now for the good stuff. The food here is great! The homemade pasta is tender and the sauces are well-planned, rich but not too rich, and fresh. I love the open kitchen, the familiar William the waiter, the Kahlua Chocolate Toffee Cheesecake (even though they clearly do not make it in house because I have had it other places, you must). My favorite dish? Without a doubt, it's the pesto ravioli. The combo of sauces is edgy and delicious and the raviolis are tender and creamy. I want some right now. If you want to save some money but still have the same great tastes with smaller portions, go for lunch (although all portions here are moderately sized). It seems like Cafe Capri uses less grease and salt which, if you frequent the chains, you may have to get used to. It just feels like your arteries aren't clogging quite as fast...har har. Also, the menu is well rounded, including Italian staples and a variety of creative pasta dishes. 2. Atmosphere - quaint, corner building in downtown Bryan; very fitting for an Italian restaurant. Guys - it's a really good place to take a date. 3. It is not a chain 4. Owned by a local 5. Competent staff If you like crab, you'll love Cafe Capri. They have an assortment of crab and lobster pasta dishes. I like the "Bowtie Affair". It's sliced grilled chicken in a feta cream sauce w/mushrooms. The calamari is pretty good, if you can stomach the tentacles that they serve alongside the rings. I would recommend making reservations, even if you're going on a week day (just to be safe) because this place is usually PACKED with dinner guests. This is my favorite Italian spot in town. Coming from Italian heritage I couldn't find a place that came even close to my grandmothers Italian cooking. This place has by far been the closet to taste. I always get the Tortellini Capri with crab and lobster, because it's so dang good. My boyfriend has gotten a few of there other dishes which have all been pretty tasty. We tend to go during the week, early around 5-6pm, and never have a wait time. The service has always been great and fully attentive. During the holidays they gave away New Years gifts, which we won a whole plate for free! I ordered a glass of wine but was then told they didn't have a whole glass amount left, and gave it to me for no charge. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

This would be a 5 star review but they are missing a main basic of Italian food. Fresh warm bread. Both times we have been the bread has been cold and stale. That aside, the Lobster pasta meal they make is delicious. I have gotten that both times I have been. My mother in law got one of the crab meals and was disappointed that it was imitation crab. This is Bryan, the way you should see it. You start here, on 24th and Main, Caffe Capri. Lemme break this down for you: two sauces, one red, one white. Sounds simple because good food doesn't need to be complicated, and we're talking about Italian food here and sauce is king. Don't come expecting homemade pasta, the space is ancient and the square footage is beyond capacity already, the two-story building has private dining opportunities upstairs. I eat the baked penne, which features both sauces IN TANDEM. That's right. It's great. Extra pepperoni for winners. The wine here is great but if you're out for wine I would not miss out on uncorked. I mean.. you didn't think that was it right? Downtown Bryan is everything that Northgate is not: Wonderful. First Fridays of the month are choice, I would call ahead on weekends because this place is popular and can fill up quick. read more
