a cup of coffee and a croissant
Cindy D.

I have a thing for little cafés, I feel that service is always warmer than at bigger banners, and the selection of coffee more interesting... Le VSL, is definitely one of them: Excellent coffee and pastries, warm owner and minimalist interior. It's also really nice seeing this kind of café in the area, near Du College and Cote-Vertu metro stations. If you're in the area, You should check it out!

Cafe latte

Discovered this place on the 3rd wave app. Figured I'd try it out. Very glad I did. Latte was TOP NOTCH! Affordable, clean, welcoming and comfortable. I'll definitely be back. My son had a hot chocolate and croissant, my wife had a cortado. We all agree, coffee is outstanding. Place seems to be new, but I recommend it highly!

I've been grabbing cakes from here for a while and they're always a hit!…read more The cakes are nice and moist without being too sweet, though the buttercream can be a bit much for some. I've also tried most of the pastries and they're just as good as the cakes. My favorite is the coffee éclair, it's light, airy and sweet. Honestly, I like it more than the classic éclair. The coffee flavor just takes it up a notch. The icing on top can be a little sweet on its own, but it balances out well with the whole éclair. I always grab one or two when I'm in the area. The lemon raspberry cake is another favorite. It's light with just a hint of tartness, and the poppy seeds in the cake are a nice touch. The zeppoles are perfectly light, not greasy, and just sweet enough. I've also had the vanilla and caramel cake, and it's super soft and moist. The buttercream is on the sweeter side, but it goes really well with the cake. Black forest cake is lightly sweetened and I feel like I can eat a huge slice without it being overwhelming. Overall, this bakery is awesome, with a ton of variety. They've got baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and more. Definitely worth checking out!

The cupcakes were gorgeous, taste was nothing to write home about-- a bit dry and bland. But the cheesecake was very yummy.

I have visited quite a number of baklava pastry places and tested them out. This is unquestionably one of the finest bakeries I have ever seen so far. From the very high-quality ingredients, to the good consistency of making each baklava piece, as well as the great freshness of the products, all areas are simply top-notch in the business! Their store layout, their very friendly and cheerful staff, and even their packaging, are all getting together to form a very enjoyably addictive experience. Aside from the artisanal baklava, they also have other pastries, cookies, chocolate, Turkish stretchy ice cream (Maraş Dondurması), premium cakes, cream puffs, fruit tarts, and I can keep going on and on and on.... Just be prepared to spend a lot there because it is simply irresistible. LOL. Take a look at my photos posted, you will get the idea instantly. At the end of the day, these are all sweet treats that you cannot eat too much at a time. So, it will be such a nice feeling to bring the baklava back and share them with friends, families, and loved ones. Such a beautiful place to visit in Montreal. An absolutely delightful experience.

This place was hands down a highlight of my Montréal food scene experience. The shop itself is very cute and cozy, with just two small tables by the window and a few chairs. The décor is simple, and so are your choices, which honestly works in their favor. When you step inside, you get a direct view of the bakers working their magic, which makes the experience even better. We ordered a hot chocolate, plain croissants, chocolate croissants, and a slice of the Kouign‑Amann. If you like a dark, rich hot chocolate that's not overly sweet, look no further, this is the place. As for the croissants, both the plain and chocolate versions were good but fairly standard. However, the real star was the Kouign‑Amann. It was served warm, perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. It was so good that when I finished my slice, I went back to the counter hoping for more but they were sold out. To be fair, I arrived around 2pm and they close at 3pm. Despite that, the line moved quickly, and the staff were some of the sweetest people ever. My only regret? I only bought one slice. I'd highly recommend this place, but make sure you get there early if you want to snag a slice of Kouign‑Amann before they sell out.

We both had a "tranche" /slice /portion of the flaky pastry originating from Brittany. While it does not look like the Kouign Amanns I've had before, it definitely tasted fabulous. We were not the only ones who thought so. While we ate our bounty at one of the two open tables, we saw person after person purchase whole galettes, possibly for an upcoming family gathering. The pastry had a sweet and crunchy crust and a buttery interior. Here, it does not resemble a croissant. Instead, the layers of dough were softer than the typical honeycomb structure of a croissant. Speaking of which, my sister also recommends the croissants here, which she used to have regularly when the shop was open more frequently.
