I had heard about the famous coconut cake, so I went this morning and was very lucky to get the last slice. It was everything it's cracked up to be. Just this soft, yellow cake that doesn't have one overly-dry bite in it. Beautiful! I also couldn't resist trying a mini cupcake. They are the perfect size for a wonderful sweet snack that won't make you feel that guilty. I had the butter rum mini. Next time I go, I'm definitely getting the home made banana pudding. Someone in another review mentioned German chocolate cake, something I'd also be forced to cave and buy for my gluttonous self. The inside is very cute. You can tell the owner is proud of this space, as well she should be. The older woman behind the counter was so lovely and helpful. This bakery is a great addition to Northwood! read more

We first had Cafe Sweets coconut cake at Howley's owned by SubCulture Coffee. We rarely order dessert. We asked the server if they make their desserts. They gave credit to Cafe Sweets Bakery. We just knew we had to check this bakery out. Started following them on social media. Their coconut cake is the best! We discovered this is a multi-generational bakery. Way to go! These women are amazing cake bakers. Next on our list is their German chocolate cake. Discover for yourself how these women know how to bake cakes!! BEST PLACE EVER!! My mom and I are big on sweets, we walked in last minute before closing and they were still happy to serve us! Even told us about an event they were having the next day. Meh. Came here super excited to try the cupcakes and post them on my blog. I was kind of disenchanted. There was a great variety of flavors. Seemingly bold and daring. The "butter rum" caught my eye. I also grabbed a coconut. The cupcakes themselves aren't aesthetically pleasing, just pretty basic, but we're not here for looks, we're here for flavor. The flavor is what lost me. The cupcake had a very unappetizing freezer taste to it. Almost unpalatable to me. I don't know if it's because I went around 4pm, but it was actually a chore to eat the second one after the first. At 2$ for a mini, I would have hoped to enjoy it. I gave them three stars for the charisma of the woman working, the cute shop, and the IDEA of the flavors. I couldn't be as forgiving in regards to execution. Hopefully I went on an off day, and others will have different experiences! read more

My favorite kind of cake is German chocolate and we looked everywhere in our area for one but had no luck. My husband drove an hour and a half to get me a cake for my birthday from cake sweets bakery. It was the BEST GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE IVE EVER HAD!!! I enjoyed it so much and even froze a piece for a later time and when I defrosted it, it was just as good! I highly recommend this place! Thank you so much for making my birthday so great! read more

The best coconut cake ever! A must try. Moist, dense, light and decadent. The mature lady who serves is slower than a younger person would be, but she is so very sweet with such a welcoming smile and spirit. Who cares that she might take an extran30 seconds to get your order. I've also had their coconut pineapple cake, which is only made to order. I wish they did that one for slices. I can't articulate how soft and perfect that cake is. They must sprinkle pixie dust over it to make it so perfect read more

Red velvet: delicious, moist cake, fine texture, balanced cream cheese icing Banana pudding: moist cake, tastes similar to a banana bread, good texture, creamy banana flavor icing (the cookie on top will get gooey) Double chocolate: cake was moist with a almost brownie like texture and had chunks of chocolate in it, icing was very good fudge flavored. German chocolate: cake was not as flavorful as I expected but the texture was good, moisture level was good, however the icing was a bit to meaty (too many nuts) for my liking. Pina colada and the coconut: cake was too dense, icing was gritty, the pina colada cake was dry. If you love red velvet, you must try theirs. Probably best I've ever eaten. read more

(Original Review at bottom) UPDATE (3/31/14) I have changed my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. They have raised their prices twice within the last year. Last time I went a couple of weeks ago, it was almost $11 for 3 cupcakes. I can no longer rationalize the cost on a regular basis; once it crosses the $10 threshold, I have to seriously weigh it against Cheesecake Factory, Kilwins, Coldstone, and other dessert options. The quality continues to be upheld and they are constantly creating new flavors, I just am sad to see the prices rise not once, but twice within 12 months. Also, due to factors clearly beyond their control, I now have to pay for parking (I used to park in the dirt lot out back, at my own risk). UPDATE (5/18/13) Had a chance to try red velvet, a lemon bar and coffee cafe - all were wonderful! Finally caught up with a tiramisu cupcake. Hate it to say it, but it was by far the most disappointing product I've had from there. The flavor was on the bland side and tasted nothing like tiramisu.Oh well ... life goes on, I'll stick to the 10-12 others that I really enjoy. UPDATE (4/20/13) We have been back several times and continue to enjoy these cupcakes on a weekly basis. Our samplings now also include: - chocolate cannoli cupcake - chocolate mint cupcake - carrot cake cupcake - chocolate cupcake with brownie - chocolate cupcake with cookie - almond joy Still have yet to find one that we didn't like. :-) As of now, our favorite is the German chocolate. ORIGINAL REVIEW Finally, a good cupcake shop in West Palm AND its open late (10pm on a Sat. nights)! Wife and I split 3 cupcakes - a s'mores, a German chocolate, and a chocolate chip. They were all moist and delicious! The German chocolate was my favorite, and hers was the chocolate chip; we both agreed that the s'mores was more of an "experience," but we wouldn't be in a rush to get it again. We'll be back again. Next time we'll try to get there a little earlier in the day, when there are even more options. read more

This is a nice small cupcake shop home for mother daughter and grandmother. They are so sweet! Dane Cook the cupcakes every day and put them up and they have the most interesting flavors. I've been in West Palm Beach for 8 years. I always go back to Miami to get my cakes. Now, I will not have to do that anymore! I ordered a birthday cake for my husband last minute. Ms. Sherylyn answered the phone to tell me they were closed on the day I needed to pick up. But, when I told her it was my husband's B-day, she took my order and told me to pick up on Monday. OMG! Cafe Sweet's Red Velvet Cupcake was one of the best I've had. I have to wait to rate the Coconut Cake but thank you so much Cafe Sweet for your awesom customer service. read more

I just love Cafe Sweets Bakery. The shop itself is super clean and very inviting and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. You will always see a smiling face when you walk in. They bake mini pies, cakes, brownies and other pastries but the stars of the show are definitely the cupcakes. The cupcakes are SO very delicious! Not only are they moist and flavorful, they have a ton of creative flavors! (Bacon Maple cupcake, anyone?) Their chocolate cupcake with brownie chunks is easily my favorite cupcake I have ever eaten. Some chocolate cakes have a tendency to be dry and tasteless, not a problem here. Only moist, delicious, chocolate-y goodness. Lots of cupcakes inspired by alcoholic drinks like the Mojito, Butter Rum, and Pina Colada, and Strawberry Daiquiri (my personal favorite of that lot). They also have a Sweet Tooth Card (Buy 10 cupcakes or pastries, get one free) which, challenge accepted, I use as an excuse to try every flavor. The BEST place to get cupcakes in West Palm Beach hands down. The establishment is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The cupcakes are made fresh every day so the earlier in the day you go the more of a selection you have to choose from. I have yet to purchase a flavor that I have not enjoyed! Great for parties and catered events. They are open late on the weekends if you're looking for a late snack. Run by a lovely family. I'm glad to see a small business doing so well. read more

As an avid Foodie, Fine Cuisine Connoisseur and Lover of Pastries/Cupcakes, let me tell you that I had THE BEST (no lie), fresh, flavorful and moist cupcakes (1-Red Velvet & 1-Lemon Berry) I've EVER tasted here in Palm Beach County @Café Sweets Bakery This establishment was "Immaculately" CLEAN and NEAT (Just how I like it!) Customer service far surpassed and exceeded my expectations (some other establishments need to take notes and follow suit). The vivid colors are welcoming and suitably tailored. It is very clear that management put some serious, serious intelligent thought into every aspect of this business, ingredients, customer service and comfy environment. I will take the 15 minute drive from my house even if for just ONE pastry or cupcake and pay whatever the price because the "Experience" is worth it all. We were going to an event in West Palm Beach and started calling around trying to find a bakery that could make a special occasion cake on somewhat short notice. After calling several bakeries and have them not answer the phone, we found Cafe Sweets Bakery! I spoke with Mary and she could not have been nicer or more helpful! Even though it was a holiday weekend, she was willing to take the order and help us out. The cake turned out beautiful and everyone at the party kept commenting about how good it was! This place has the BEST RED VELVET cupcakes ever! I was hooked, then I tried their wedding cake Vanilla, and now whenever I go I get at least half dozen. I also love that it's a black-owned business. The owner or her mom (the original baker) is always there to greet you with a smile. They have become our go-to baker for parties and events. Customer service is out of this world! We went by on a Sunday and pulled on the door to find they were locked and closed. Disappointed we started to walk away and they came to the door and told us to come in and see what they had available even though they were closed! They allowed to choose a cupcake and then said it was on the house! Impressive!!! And to add to this the cupcakes (Almond Joy and Cookies and Cream) were so delicious! We started off with a couple of cocktails and we ordered the avocado beet salad, which was 10 out of 10. We split the truffle pasta and ordered the Wagyu cooked medium. The service was absolutely fantastic. Carmita was our server and she was so kind and accommodating. The food tasted so fresh and the truffle was something to be remembered. On the other side is a carefully curated collection of gifts and unique decorative accessories from around the world. Everything is so artfully arranged by type and color scheme. They sell holiday decorations, books, collectibles, dishes, cups, glassware, topiaries, beautifully embroidered dish towels, an assortment of napkin rings, greeting card, note cards, decorative items, glass paper weights, candles, beauty items, and more. I really loved the Palm Beach coloring book. Of course this being The Breakers, items are pricey. A single greeting card was $6. I enjoyed exploring all of the shop items after which I indulged in a croissant and coffee from the food side. You can take your food and drinks out to the Palm Court where there is beautiful landscaping, fountains, and tables and seats. You don't have to be a guest of the resort to come here. The Breakers tries to limit non resort guests during season but if you allow them to scan your license and tell the guards you are coming to eat or shop they will let you in. Guest parking is on your immediate left just after you pass the guards.
