Tasty, fresh, healthy breakfast. After a few days on the road, eating out at every meal, we did not want huge portions of greasy diner food. We all got exactly what we wanted here & we were all wildly satisfied! I got a toasted everything bagel with hummus. The rest of my family got a plain bagel, strawberry smoothie, coffee, chai, and two other things I can't recall the names of: granola with Greek yogurt, fruit, & honey, & a breakfast sandwich with real sausage. We sat outside as the weather was perfect. Everything did take a little while to come out but we weren't in a rush, the food was amazing, & weather was beautiful. Can't wait to visit again! Edit - came back here last time we were in town & had the smoked salmon salad... I'm pretty picky when it comes to my salads because I make GREAT ones & am not going to be satisfied with plain old iceberg or romaine & a few chopped veggies. Cafe Sol is a Nice little local cafe. Always a great alternative to the chain coffee shops. The menu has creatively named unique items for both lunch and breakfast. The coffee is delicious, and the staff friendly. There is a nice outdoor patio to sip coffee and enjoy a meal as you gaze in wonder at the bustling village of Niantic. We have gone to Cafe Sol a few times. They have good breakfast options. Some of the sandwiches are smaller than others but are all good. We brought our puppy with us to the outdoor seating area and it went very smooth. I have dined at Cafe Sol on 4 or 5 occasions now, and I have to agree with all the other positive reviews. The owners are pretty much almost always working their tails off in there and they remembered me on only my 2nd or 3rd visit there. The food is fresh, creative and outstanding. It has a lively little atmosphere and cozy ambiance and is well decorated. The prices aren't high at all for the quality of food. My favorites are the extended basic (egg, cheese, choice of meat and house sauce on a hearty toasted bread) and the harvester. Pretty great stuff and I hope they keep up the good work. read more

The food was fresh and delish! I got the BLT which had avocado on it...so good and my boyfriend got the "opposites attract" wrap which had ham, turkey, roasted red peppers, banana peppers, lettuce, onions and havarti cheese! It was a beautiful day for a walk along the Niantic boardwalk, watching the fog roll out inviting the Spring sun to finally appear. Was also a splendid day for an outdoor lunch on the patio of Cafe Sol. So many menu choices to pick from. I opted for the Opposites Attract wrap. Upon ordering I was informed that the wrap had a spicy bite to it and queried if I was OK with this. OH YEAH I was! It was delish! Turkey, ham, veggie fixins and a buffalo type dressing that had a horseradish type of a bite to it. Fabulous! My lovely friend ordered the Smoked Salmon salad, pleasing her and myself as I was invited to share. OH YEAH! Tender and tasty portions of salmon in a bed of fresh greens, cukes, tomatoes, capers, and onions with a balsamic dressing. The woman taking our order was very friendly and knowledgeable as was the woman who delivered the eats to us as we sat on the little patio. I will return to Cafe Sol very soon both because of the food and the friendly staff...and I want to try those HUGE cookies that we're being taken out of the oven as we were leaving! Came here twice - once searching far and wide for a place with good soup after a dental surgery and the second time, to taste everything else! I'll start by saying how cute the entrance of this establishment is! There is ample seating area (with no shortage of customers) outside! When you enter, you're greeted by the cashier and several chalkboards full of an array of unbelievably delicious choices! I like to mention that if you're a vegetarian or are simply looking for a healthier choice while on the run, this is the place to go to, in the Niantic/New London area! There is a little seating area to the right of the cash register and the walls are fills with beautiful art! The staff seems like they're all family or they just work really well together because they were friendly with one another and with the customers in the establishment. I've eaten the Tuna Melt and the Sol Salad Wrap. Both were amazing and filling!
