We garnered a table at the Cafe Sapori at the last minute one Saturday night - a little nervous as after several calls it did appear to be the only place we could actually get into.
The menu seemed a little thin - but don't be put off, because once the waitress appeared, she rattled off an entire list of specials for the night that way exceeded the printed range. Hopefully this means that the chef has a penchant for cooking either whatever is the freshest and best and/or is a 'true artist' and lets daily whims dictate the creations.
Either way, we enjoyed a very satisfactory meal. Dodge the garlic bread - it's too thick and has too little garlic and butter relative to dough. Pastas are good; our prawns were delicious though it was odd that two of us ordered the same dish and had it delivered looking quite different (both tasty, just different - something the waiter could not explain); side salads were simple, but varied greatly in size.
Cafe Sapori staff are very friendly - it did feel a little as though we were eating in someone's home, along with a crowd of other guests. Perhaps that is why the oddities of the meal and its delivery did not detract from the fact that we enjoyed being there and would happily return. read more
