Chaos exists for one purpose and one purpose only - BREAKFAST…read more Oh, I know, I know, they do lunch as well, but the other Yelp reviews of this joint cover that off adequately enough, and (imho) lunch kind of misses the point. In fact, it totally misses the point, because Chaos' breakfast menu is daring, brazen and nothing short of spectacular. Nowhere else in Sydney offers a brekkie menu like these food bandits have rustled up. My hands-down favourite? the BACON POT HASH, a gigantic plate of bacon, mushrooms, potato, tomato, onion, and gravy ladled onto a coupla pieces of thick cut toast. The greatest hangover cure known to mankind. The corn fritters on a bed of salsa are also pretty radical - ask for a side dish of minced jalapeno chili to really kickstart your morning. They smash eggs benny, muesli, fresh juices and smoothies too, as well as all your other standard brekkie fare, but their signature items are where it's at. And, as a bonus, if you finish one of their colossal meals you get a plaque on the wall. Fine you don't really, but the meals are seriously big enough to choke an Orc. Killer, just killer. Get involved on a sunny mid-morning after a late night out on the tiles.

Tucked away though it is though, noone seems to have trouble finding the place, or certainly not in the lunchtime rush. As I was waiting for my coffee I saw the most amazing looking schnitzel burgers pass me from the kitchen-and that's coming from a vegetarian- cementing my decision to give Chaos a red-hot go for food next time I'm in the area. The coffee was good but not great so I'm still on a mission to find the best soy piccolo in Neutral Bay... watch this space...

I went here with my husband recently, thinking we'd try something new and hopefully more chill than…read morethe cafe we'd been going to often lately. So we gave this one a go, and were quite pleased with it :) For one, this place is a LOT roomier than most of the cafes we've been to. It's got a nice open plan, with a big round table in the middle of the room for larger groups, and several smaller tables. I suppose it holds a pretty average number of people, but it's just set up nicely so it doesn't feel too crowded. It's got big windows with lots of natural light, which is super nice too. We walked there, mostly uphill all the way, and it was pretty warm out. I start sweating buckets after 5 min in anything over 20 degrees. So we (especially me) really appreciated that they had a couple of big fans in the place :P The decor is pretty great. My husband said it looks like a hip granny's house, which pretty much nails it. Everything is yellow, white, and green, but not like in an overwhelming way. It feels really chill and breezy. And they played cool funk music the whole time, which just added to the "hip granny" vibe. So, on to the food and drinks, which are just a bit important, haha. We got ourselves this strawberry tart to share, and my husband got a flat white. I had 2 drinks (I'm a thirsty lady), an iced tea with lemongrass and ginger and a Belgian hot chocolate. All of it was good. I loved the tart - it was flavourful without being overly sweet. My husband enjoyed his coffee. The iced tea was a bit surprising - you usually expect it to be sweet, but it was kind of savoury almost. It threw me off at first, but once I got over my dissonance there, it was pretty good. The hot chocolate was really nice too, very chocolatey but not overly rich. Also, the staff were nice and seemed pretty easygoing, much more than I usually see at cafes, so that was nice :) The only downside is that, as far as I know, there's no free wi-fi. That would be great, cos really it'd be a nice place to sit down and do some work for a while (something my husband was looking forward to doing). Aside from that, we were really happy with our outing and will probably go back again :)

Now as L'Ami de Pain Boulangerie it's hard to try and miss the queues that line up for the coffee on weekdays and weekends. People are lining up for the selection of breads including their baguettes. Vibrant macroons are amongst their exquisite cakes as well as savouries from quiches, pies to sausage rolls on offer. A great addition for families in the corner playpen and the table with drawing paper and crayons an there is outdoor and indoor seating. The personalised service provided by Denis and Dom is second to none and it explains why this neighbourhood bakery has become of the most popular haunts for the locals.

To be honest I was extremely underwhelmed by this cafe. A few people have recommended this place, and as it is around the corner from my brother's I tend to come here often for takeout and dessert. But sadly with ever purchase, it is confirmed that this place is at best average. None of the food is overly fresh - not the quiches or the pies. Even their sandwiches are pre-made, and you can taste it. The dessert here is alright, but not great and nothing to boast about. The photos of the cakes and desserts order- made look amazing. So maybe that's why everyone raves about it. But if you are coming here for a quick bite, I honestly don't understand the charm. There are better places in Mosman or walking distance to Military Rd. I think Shot on Military is a million times better. Maybe that's just me. However, they are extremely kid friendly so maybe that's the appeal - because other than that I seriously don't understand why this is popular.
