Forget "sandwiches", this place makes sandwizes because the guy that runs this place is a wizard!…read moreHe knows his flavours, he knows his breads (which he collects at 4AM every morning), and him and his staff go above and beyond to look after the customer. We drove past this place one afternoon and the wife and I knew we had to eat here. We found street parking and made our way over. From the outside the red neon sign gave a very strong impression. Inside it was a little bit dull but that doesn't matter when you start to read the menu board. All the menu items suggest bold American flavours. Choose your filling, bread (sourdough or rye) and whether you want it fresh or toasted. I was worried about my sandwich being toast until I was told that they'd add the lettuce afterwards to prevent it from wilting. The food came out quick. My wife asked for soy milk in her coffee which they had run out of. However one of the staff went to the corner store, JUST FOR US, to buy a new carton. I was amazed by this. This truly was a selfless act and to me it defined what great customer service is. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. I ordered the hoagie sandwich. I know in The States a hoagie is this massive bread roll sandwich thing, but this being Australia they brought out a toasted sandwich which tasted just like a hoagie. Perfect down to the last bite. The staff are great company and extremely friendly. I want... nay, NEED to come back here to try some of the other sandwiches. A great place for a meal which isn't too heavy but will leave you thoroughly satisfied.

Sandwiches, sandwiches, SANDWICHES!!!…read more Like Joey from Friends, I love me some sandwiches. I believe this place opened less than a month ago, and I noticed it when I went to Single Origin one day and made a note to check it out. As its namesake states, this place is a simple sandwich shop. The interior is cozy, the people friendly, and the music sets the mood. Me gusta. The place is clean, straight to the point with natural and fresh ingredients, affordable (under $10!) and tasty to boot. They don't do sides except for the bread they serve during breakfast, and they also have salads if you don't want to have a sandwich. Let's be real here though, why would you go to The Sandwich Shop and not order a sandwich? Depending on the sandwich, you get to choose what kind of bread you'd like as well between rye, sourdough, and whole wheat. The sandwiches on tap are: Chicken Schnitzel The Sandwich Club Rare Roast Beef Tuna + White Bean Smoked Salmon Bagel The Original New York Reuben Pulled Pork The Ultimate Salad Sandwich You can also create your own sambo if you like. My friend and I ordered the Rare Roast Beef and The Original New York Reuben. If you like cheese, you will like the Rare Roast Beef. The Fontina Cheese used to top this was massive and flavourful. The roast beef could have been a bit more rare for my taste but it was still very good nonetheless. The Reuben...the reuben was great. I wouldn't call it the Original New York Reuben but that's not a bad thing. The Reuben served here was very high quality, as the beef is a thicker and juicier slice than you'd get with a New York Reuben. The cheese, sauerkraut and dressing were great as well. Definitely the best "Reuben" I've had in Sydney so far. If you like sandwiches you can't go wrong here. I'll have to come back to try the others.

The quality of the bread & pastries is amazing for the price and definitely great value for something located on the Lower North Shore. St Honore are all about the sour dough and with so many varieties, sizes & shapes, you definitely can't go wrong. Any time I'm headed out to a BBQ or dinner, I drop into St Honore and grab some sour dough dinner roll goodness without FAIL! Crusty, slightly chewy on the outside, then soft fluffy bread on the inside... always a win with the crowd. I visit often for brunch and can't go past the ham & cheese croissant. Delicate, flaky & buttery croissant filled with double smoked ham & melty gruyere cheese. For my more piggish days, I'll also grab the Croque Monsieur (AKA grilled ham & cheese sandwich with thick sour dough slices). The cakes on offer look great and delicious to boot. So go ahead, grab a Dark & White Chocolate Mousse cake, treat your taste buds and those of the people lucky enough to be around you at the time. Also don't forget to try their awesome meat pies and sausage rolls. Apart from Paddy's Pies, there really isn't much else around the Lower North Shore for kick ass Aussie staples. St Honore uses their expertise in making great pastry and fills them with tasty & quality ingredients.

Priding themselves on their Sourdough creations, Hany and the team are on the money with their offering. A bakery/café with too many delicious breads to list but the sourdough Levain is particularly scrumptious and often graces our table at the weekend to be carved up with cheese and meats. If you pop in for breakfast there are any number of authentic French pastries to tempt, served with your chosen blend of coffee. For lunch, the Tarragon Chicken Baguette is a personal favourite with its generous smearings of real egg mayonnaise. Naughty! No meal would be complete, of course, without a Salted Caramel macaroon or a sample size of the cakes that can be bought for a couple of dollars with a coffee. It's very easy to part with cash in this place and it isn't cheap but the quality, great service and the ensuing visits, mean you might need to part your trousers in order to accommodate your ever expanding waistline.
