I love this cafe!!! The coffee is so good and the staff are so friendly and welcoming!

Amazing food. Warm ambience. Helpful staff. We ate here nearly every day while in Sydney and loved everything we tried.

tl;dr Flooded with natural light and adorned with homely timbers and poetry chalked on the walls, 22 Grams is a comfy spot for ducking out of the bustling Belmore Road. Tracey and I were grabbing some shopping and just wanted a quick something. Having never noticed 22 Grams before (Tracey: "but I walk past here all the time!") the organic homely tables and golden flaky pastries on display beckoned us inside. With poetry written on the mauve walls and cushions and stools adorned the room, I ordered their soup of the day, a chicken, vege and barley soup, and their special bruschetta of smoked salmon with cream cheese, capers, lemon and dill. Both served with rye bread, the soup was a ready-to-eat temperature straight from the kitchen, light and easy to eat as expected from any broth based soup. The bruschetta was exactly is it should be: fresh and light and the bread soft enough to easily bite through but firm enough to hold everything on top. Tracey opted for a skinny latte and my two mouthfuls revealed a very smooth blend and milk of the perfect density. If I was heading to work where I can make myself one for free, I would have chosen to grab one as well. With Eric Clapton crooning in the background of the naturally lit cafe, it was just the break we needed before continuing our day. read more

Stumbled across this place while looking for some breakfast in Randwick, and definitely impressed. Casual atmosphere, great breakfasts (try the yogurt/muesli/berries with fresh OJ - I know this has become an 'in' menu item in recent years, but these guys do it really well), reasonable prices and one of the best chai lattes I've had in years. What's not to love? This is the kind of place that you would be happy catching up with a friend or two, or just reading the paper or doing some work alone. Giving this five stars, particularly since it's miles ahead of most of the other places in this area. Well done guys. read more

I have walked past this busy cafe numerous times before on my way to the Prince Of Wales Hospital in Randwick. There are always cues of people waiting for the freshly roasted coffees and delicious cakes and muffins. I was always put off from going inside because the cafe is small in size and usually there are no free tables. However, last week around 10am, I spied a free table inside. There are also tables outside if you prefer that sort of thing. I have finally found a new breakfast place to hang out at and it also serves my breakfast favourite - Corn Fritters, Avo Smash and Tomato Salsa. ($13.50) I've been on the hunt at many a breakfast cafe looking for the best Corn Fritters and this is the winner! The dish comes out presented as if it was featured in a MKR episode. I devoured it and wanted more, that's how good it was. The coffees are generous in size and tasted full bodied and the creamer delightful. There are plenty of other healthy breakfast options starting with Muesli served with Yogurt and Apple Sticks or Granola with Berries, Grapefruit and Yogurt ($9) On the egg side of things, plain poached, scrambled or fried eggs served with Sourdough ($10) Fancier breakfast choices such as Goat's Cheese and Basil Scrambled Eggs ($13) or Poached Eggs with Smashed Avocado and Caramelised Tomatoes ($14) and the must try Spicy Chipotle Scrambled Eggs with Sour Cream and Coriander ($13) An Egg and Bacon Panini with Spicy Roast Tomato Mayo ($9.50), but if you start adding on items, it gets a bit expensive. Extras cost: one extra egg $3, tomato $3, avocado $4, bacon $5, smoked salmon $6. Your choice. Salads are available after 11am. Tuna Salad with beans, olives, Fetta and a softly boiled egg ($14) Chicken Salad with Avocado, grapefruit, Parmesan and Pistachios ($15) Roast Butternut and Quinoa with Fetta, olives and Pesto ($13.50) Also soups available as well. An array of coffee beans to choose from for your daily cuppa - and if you still have room, add some muffins, cake or pastry to your order. The place is crowded (you can see why), a bit over priced- but I don't care and it is easily the best new cafe in Randwick. I can feel another breakfast coming on now. read more

I have come here for breakfast and lunch as I work just around the corner. All the egg dishes are wonderful. My go to is usually the poached eggs with avocado and caramelized tomato - so simple and fresh! However I recently tried the scrambled eggs with basil and roasted tomato. My my, a delicious and unique twist to scrambled eggs! For lunch I recommend the poached chicken salad with grapefruit and pistachio. Oh 22 grams. HELLLO! This was the only place I could find anywhere near Randwick Hospital that could make me a cheese and tomato sammich. That's right, you read that correctly m'dears. A plain cheese & tomato sammich. I had to walk for hours to find one. Sometimes this whole hipster thing is such a pain in the proverbial that it's beyond a joke. You see, my sister was sick in the hospital and all she wanted was a cheese and tomato sammich and possibly all she could keep down so hence my quest was laid for me. Next time I'll come straight here for any requests for normal food without a side of home grown chicken that's only had corn and was seated on a pillar topped with duck feathers and a pea. So walking into this place, it was pumping. I thought, oh dear, I'm not going to find my plain jane sammich here I should just walk out. But I persisted and waited in line and to my delight the lady behind the cash register said YES! I may have clapped and bounced at her. I think she was rather surprised at my very visible delight. I let her know that my red sweaty faced appearance was from my epic quest to find a cheese and tomato sammich for my sick and dying sister who can't eat anything else lest she throw it back up again as she was wont to do for days now. I nearly kissed her. I now know how those knights of the crusades felt when they found their treasure. I also ordered coffee because after my epic quest fulfilment, I figured I deserved a bloody coffee. And their coffee is really yummy. Rich, full and no burnt milk. Tick tick and tick. Seating is plentiful inside and a spattering outside. It's very full and full of noise and laughter and people enjoying their foods. I would suggest this place to anyone in the area. If only to go have a coffee or chai which is divine. Or just enjoy their wall which I found rather colourful and cheery (plus it had their menu on it). read more

While 22 grams has a beautiful atmosphere, has lots of natural light and the decor is amazing (this is the reason I'm giving it 3 stars), the menu leaves much to be desired as there aren't many options. It was also overpriced for the size of the meals, I believe. The banana smoothie I ordered tasted unripe and not sweet at all - I didn't even finish it and I enjoy my banana smoothies. Having said that, it's a very cute place for lunch but beware of the long lines of hospital staff and med students waiting for a good coffee. Perhaps that was my mistake, not getting one of their coffees. This cafe looked like they made good coffees and I think offered cold drip too (will have to check that fact). Would I go back for lunch? Probably not. But it's a beautiful place to visit just once. read more

A breakfast cafe serving amazing Fresh, Aromatic and smooth coffee roasted on site. Spotted them roasting late one evening and they had a laptop collecting data from the roaster - I guess they take this VERY seriously.. And the results are amazing. The menu includes the standard breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, avocado bruschetta toast, and Eggs Benedict, but the food they produce is certainly well above standard. The 'Bacon & Egg Sandwich" should not be confused with a McMuffin. Instead I received a wonderful soft-fried egg and bacon on a ciabatta roll with a tomato jam the I could eat again and again. But then I'd miss the Avo Bruschetta on sourdough. This dish has a nice combination of acid from the Bruschetta paired with feta cheese crumbled over a homemade sourdough. I'm from New York, but try to make it here every time I'm in the area. Congratulations to the owner, chef, and barista. You have a wonderful restaurant. read more

Look, no one likes going to a hospital. Presumably those doctors that drive a Porsche do, but no one else. So it's nice to find a tiny cafe serving delicious, healthy food nearby. Rather than gross hospital cafeteria food. And the coffee was pretty good too, without being the best bean I've ever consumed. Would I go back? Yes, yes I would and most likely will. Would I travel across Sydney to eat here? No. read more

The staff was very friendly, the place packed and the menu promising but i was underwhelmed by my scrambled eggs with goat's cheese. I expected more given the vibe and reviews this place has. Perhaps I was unlucky and my experience isn't the norm, but IMHO you need to be much better to deserve 4+ stars around this part of town. read more

As I write this review and remember back to my meal at 22 Grams, I am finding it hard not to salivate all over my keyboard. I had goat cheese scrambled eggs with roasted tomato and basil. The eggs were tasty, and there was almost too much goats cheese (I never thought I would say that about cheese, can you ever really have too much?!), but the standout was the sourdough toast with butter that came with the eggs. The toast had just the right texture and crunch, and the butter was perfectly melted on top, with the right amount of salty goodness. As a sat devouring my brunch there was a steady stream of customers grabbing a coffee, so this place is a popular choice for hospital staff and other locals. read more
