A cute and cozy place in a Paddington alley along Oxford Street. There portions are also "cute," meaning their a bit smaller than the average but I could have been extra hungry. Kind of feels as if I'm in someone's backyard and well, you kind of are, which is a bit funny but makes it all the more interesting when a resident walks out of his place and has to pass through to make his way out. Good food and great service that I would continue to go and try something new.

This cafe is hidden in a Paddington laneway and they serve petty good coffee and staff are really nice. They also serve some great baked goods as well as a hearty meal. They have some seating and it is pretty cosy. You can catch the M40 or 380 from the city and it takes about 10 minutes depending on traffic.

Such a delightful surprise hole in the wall. Definitely glad we stumbled across this place and will be back on the reg!

Went here for a coffee on free coffee day thanks to Yelp! I also got some peanut butter toast and the name is correct, it's "not just coffee", they have light breakfast options, and muffins, croissants as well. The coffee was nice, quite strong. It is open early and in a narrow lane and pet friendly as well. Thanks for the Coffee and winter survival pack

We were in Darlinghurst for a optometrist appointment and wanted good coffee. Got yelp out and it showed me this one. Have to say, pretty great option. Such a small cafe from the outside, and then leads into a massive courtyard. So nice. Lovely coffee, heaps of friendly staff and some quirky quotes. Food was good (we ended up getting Samurai breakfast - yum). We don't often come into this side of the world, but if we do, we'll be back.

    Long black!

My husband and I shared ham sandwich and it was really good. The bread was chewy and soft at the same time. All the veggies they put on are fresh. I recommend putting carameralized carrots. I was bid sad to see how little ham they used tho. They said their recommendations are chicken schnitzel and spicy chicken. If I ever had a chance to go back to Sydney, I would definitely go out of my way to get their sandwhiches again.

We took the opportunity on a day off to visit. Knowing it's popularity, we ordered online which was awesome because it meant they were ready on arrival. Now you can get a sandwich pretty much anywhere these days, but these are more than just your regular sandwich. They are massive gourmet sandwiches, on the softest, freshest bread ever! You can get some of their listed options or alter them on the order if there's something you can't eat. We ordered the "Jimmy Sandwich" on brown bread (you can opt brown or white) with Chilli chicken, lettuce, avocado, caramelised carrot, cucamber, spanish onion, rocket & red pesto. We added some pickles. A delicious and huge sandwich that kept us full for hours. Some other examples include sandwiches with Veggies, chicken schnitzel, ham, poached chicken, smoked salmon and even special add ons of caramelised carrot or potato salad. There's also salads served in little takeaway boxes if you prefer. Salads are dressed with a light balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We went to the Alexandria store and there's a few stools to sit outside and eat. We're super keen to return when we get a day off!

Sandwiches, sandwiches, SANDWICHES!!!…read more Like Joey from Friends, I love me some sandwiches. I believe this place opened less than a month ago, and I noticed it when I went to Single Origin one day and made a note to check it out. As its namesake states, this place is a simple sandwich shop. The interior is cozy, the people friendly, and the music sets the mood. Me gusta. The place is clean, straight to the point with natural and fresh ingredients, affordable (under $10!) and tasty to boot. They don't do sides except for the bread they serve during breakfast, and they also have salads if you don't want to have a sandwich. Let's be real here though, why would you go to The Sandwich Shop and not order a sandwich? Depending on the sandwich, you get to choose what kind of bread you'd like as well between rye, sourdough, and whole wheat. The sandwiches on tap are: Chicken Schnitzel The Sandwich Club Rare Roast Beef Tuna + White Bean Smoked Salmon Bagel The Original New York Reuben Pulled Pork The Ultimate Salad Sandwich You can also create your own sambo if you like. My friend and I ordered the Rare Roast Beef and The Original New York Reuben. If you like cheese, you will like the Rare Roast Beef. The Fontina Cheese used to top this was massive and flavourful. The roast beef could have been a bit more rare for my taste but it was still very good nonetheless. The Reuben...the reuben was great. I wouldn't call it the Original New York Reuben but that's not a bad thing. The Reuben served here was very high quality, as the beef is a thicker and juicier slice than you'd get with a New York Reuben. The cheese, sauerkraut and dressing were great as well. Definitely the best "Reuben" I've had in Sydney so far. If you like sandwiches you can't go wrong here. I'll have to come back to try the others.

I only came across this quaint street while waiting for my $5 Domino's Pizza around the corner (stop judging!!) :D Ok, upon arriving at the City Edge Cafe, you're greeted with an array of FRESH flowers that are available for purchase. Once inside, you're going to have to take a step back and absorb the gigantic menu.. it's literally a giant menu from floor to ceiling but it has about 793643 sandwiches listed. I had the hardest time making a choice but I went with my heart and got the Roasted Duck with boiled egg, cucumber, mint, coriander, chili paste and hoisan sauce on Turkish bread and their juice of the week (passionfruit, carrot, watermelon and orange).. OMG!!!!! Probably one of the BEST and FRESHEST sandwiches I've ever had!!! And the juice was just as amazing!!! But the thing I was most truly amazed about was the gentleman behind the counter who took my order. I'm sure they have tons of regulars who come in and so they'll remember names, but to remember their order too?? I'm not talking about 1 or 2 people.. there were more than a handful of customers who walked in and it seemed like everyone was an old friends. Kudos for superior customer service!!!! I'm coming again and trying the entire menu and so should you!!!!

Both were perfect. Bread was as fresh as ever, salad was too and the hero was the crunchy-but-juicy schnitzel. How they get it so crunchy is pure food magic. Each sandwich was topped with just the right amount of finger licking sauce. I was in heaven eating these sandwiches in the park one block away up Commonwealth street. Oh and make sure you try their juices. They change the fruit and veg combos regularly. Today had strawberry and watermelon and other yummy stuff. It was the perfect accompaniment to the sandwiches.

It is more of a quick cuppa or take away sandwich place. Not knocking it in any way. I've had a fairly decent bite to eat there and my chai tea was good, albeit not quite hot enough. i just didn't find it comfortable enough to want to hang around beyond my food and drink. It's really small inside and the tables and chairs are pretty close together so you feel a bit squashed and conspicuous. It seems to me that it is more of a meeting place for a coffee and perhaps a treat (of which there are some delicious looking ones) And I don't suppose it claims to be anything else either. Its right there on Fiveways, that great junction in Paddington. So a better location you could not ask for and many of the pre-prepared lunch meals were sold out by the time I got there later on in the afternoon, so clearly it is fairly popular. For all I know it could be legendary with the locals! it was my first visit though and first impressions were 'nice, but nothing too special.'

Gusto is the perfect place to let the day pass by as you sip a macchiato and munch on sweet treats. This café and delicatessen reminds me of ones you would find in Europe, with locals socializing here habitually. My cappuccino was above average and executed with precision. Their banana bread is a divine slice of heaven on a plate. I also tried a fudge brownie with chocolate chips that was intensely sweet but packed an equally strong cocoa punch. Gusto also sells a variety of fresh paninis, wraps, and salads that will tickle anyone's taste buds. I would suggest that you try your hardest to get a seat outside to marvel at the harbor views. Also, you're a people-watcher like me, this is the place to do it. People flock to Gusto on a regular basis, so you might find yourself waiting to get a seat. Even so, you can still experience their tasty sandwiches on the go. The servers aren't very approachable or welcoming, but they do their job well.
