Decided to check this place out since I drive by it regularly but haven't had to chance to stop in. Me and a girlfriend wanted to catch up and we both have never tried it here so we chose this spot! I ordered a brown sugar iced latte (small) and a classic bagel breakfast sandwich on a sesame bagel! The garlic aioli added the perfect twist on a classic sandwich. Not to mention it was a nice shareable size! The coffee was good as well, wish it had more of an espresso taste but nonetheless tasty! Felt it was sort of pricey for what I got ($17 with tip) but I feel like that's the going rate lately for a simple breakfast out in Charleston. Definitely will be coming back as the lox bagel sounds delicious!

I got quick takeout from here, but it was a nice enough space to stay in despite the strip mall setting. I wanted a typical breakfast bagel, which was slightly sour and came with abundant butter, as well as a less conventional breakfast salad. The salad contained a lot of nice ingredients, but didn't fully cohere and the dressing didn't add as much as I was hoping. Still, a nice way to balance out my bagel with some vegetables. It didn't look like the pastry selection here was huge, but it did look like a nice place to sit and chat.

Their menu is in a folder. I love that touch.

It's rare for me to rate five stars but Cafe Roca deserves it. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was that an espresso is ONLY two dollars. That's for two shots. The espresso was delicious. They use a very good bean. Next was the sandwich. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese on a sesame seed bagel. The sandwich was delicious. The bagel was very fresh. The egg was cooked just right, and the cheese had the perfect amount of gooeyness to it. Customer service here is on point. They are fully staffed. The staff is very attentive, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. While here I saw the store manager wiping surfaces and doing table touches. I'm sorry, but I almost never see cafe staff doing table touches. On the way out, the manager addressed me by name and asked how I enjoyed the visit. That he remembered my name after hearing it only once was outstanding. I'll definitely eat here again. Folks, you should, too. Check out the pics.

Carne Asada bowl and hot chai latte

It was our first time visiting Cafe Roca. The place was busy for a Saturday afternoon. The cafe had a warm and cozy feel. The menu had a lot of healthy options with salads and toasts. I finally decided on the carne asada bowl and hot chai latte. The bowl is definitely something that I would get again because I like everything in the description but most of all the dressing is what pulled it all together. The spicy chipotle vinaigrette did the trick. As for the chai latte, I wish it was a little hotter because it was a great fall flavor in a cup to get you ready for that cooler weather that hopefully comes soon.

I came to this ne coffee place on their third opening day and it did not dissapoint me. I had my skinny iced decaf coffee latte with their glutten free banana chocolate chip muffin and it was so good. I love the ambience of the place, open, and love the natural light with big glass window. I love the big table where they put the water infuse jug and some sofas to sit on. They also sell breakfast menu with full kitchen crew that busy making the food order. The service was pretty fast, however ai didnt order the cooked breakfast tho so cant really say about the cook breakfast that they had to make in the kitchen. The owner of the place stop by and introduced himself and asked about our order and make sure we enjoyed what we got. Congratulations Cafe Roca on your opening and best of luck!

I know it won't last forever, but everyone RUN to get the pumpkin latte from this place while they have it. I don't love chain coffee stores' pumpkin flavoring but this place absolutely nailed it. They also get major bonus points for having a variety of gluten free muffins to choose from every morning. Such a great spot for a good latte and a tummy ache-free pastry.

    Lox bagel and nitro.

Their nitro coffee is pretty solid. Their menu is quite varied in food, which is surprising for a cafe of their size. I really enjoyed my lox bagel with both the lox and bagel itself being pretty fresh, and the dill cream cheese. I'll have to try a couple of their other drinks, but there wasn't a lot advertised on the board in variety. Still enjoyed everything.

New little spot in West Ashley - decided to stop in to check it out last weekend. It's simply decorated with bar seating, high top tables, and couches, etc. It was fairly crowded, but the wait was not terrible. I got an iced latte and one of their signature sandwiches. I enjoyed my latte, it was simple but tasty. My sandwich (BLAT) was pretty fresh and it was enjoyable. I would not recommend coming here if you need a feast, but for breakfast/lunch, it is definitely a good option - they have a nice variety to choose from. The staff was very friendly and the service was pretty quick, especially considering how busy they were. I will have to go back & try some of their other items.

Alright, alright! I stopped in to the just opened @Cafe Roca in West Ashley this morning. I got greeted like an old friend by the two owners Joe and Shannon. I had one of the best Cortado's that I've ever had and I tried their Breakfast Wontons made with Herbed Cream Cheese, scrambled egg, bacon, (sushi)Eel Sauce, Sriracha Aioli and Scallions. They were spot on delicious! I also grabbed a couple.of Gluten Free Donuts that were also great. **Went back today and had a Bagel with Lox! It hit the mark!** The vibe is everything we need and want in West Ashley. Cool and inviting with books and even a music nook with headphones if you want to listen to music as you sip and eat. Great music is playing throughout the space for all to enjoy. I ended up spending 30 minutes talking with other customers from the area about food and restaurants we love. This is a real feel good neighborhood place. Cafe Roca 1303 Ashley River Rd Charleston, SC Open 7 days M-F 6am-2pm Sat and Sun 7am-2p

This place is so quaint!! I was so in love with all the details and decor. I didn't get to spend much time here, due to work. This is the perfect place to hang with friends, or get some work done. Even on a Sunday it wasn't too loud, although it was crowded. They have a wide variety of specialty coffee, and bakery items. My husband and I both got their famous breakfast sandwich! It was so delicious. The aioli really elevated it from your traditional English muffin. I found that the ingredients were quality as well. The service was quick and everyone working seemed nice. A manager/owner, maybe, even made his way around checking on each table. That was kind. The pricing is high here for coffee. A shot of espresso and a cortado is/was the same price as a latte ($4.50). In my opinion that is high. Because of the price I was also expecting the latte to be exceptional but the milk was frothed for a bit too long and too foamy (imo). But again I loved it here! Because of the pricing I don't know how often I'd be here but for special occasions I'll be back!

Iced mocha. Very smooth, caramel flavor.

Really cute little cafe. Came on a very busy Sunday morning but still got my iced mocha quickly. The espresso was smooth and tasted caramel-y. I'd love to go back on a less busy morning and lounge on the couch!

5 stars... Café Roca is exactly what West Ashley needed! From the moment you walk into Café Roca, you can feel the care and creativity in the space. Joe Walker, who you might remember from the much-loved Stereo 8, has absolutely nailed it here by blending his global culinary experience with a fresh, welcoming vibe that feels perfectly at home in West Ashley. The menu is thoughtful and playful, with dishes that are full of bold flavors and beautiful presentation. The breakfast fried wontons and the duck hoagie (I'd say this is their take on a duck bahn mi) are just next level... not just delicious, but clever, and they show off Joe's knack for mixing global inspiration with local charm. One thing that really impressed me: Joe listened to early feedback from the neighborhood and adjusted pricing to make sure Café Roca stays accessible. It says a lot about his respect for the community and his commitment to making this a place where people want to return again and again. The vibe in the space is just right... lively without being loud, stylish without feeling over-designed. It's the kind of place where you want to linger over coffee or brunch. We love that it's so easily accessible by foot, bike, or car... we like to take a short ride on the bike path and then cruise through the neighborhood to get here. It makes the whole experience feel like a perfect little escape. West Ashley has been waiting for a spot like this, and I can't recommend Café Roca enough. It's become a fast favorite, and I'm excited to keep coming back.

Last night I placed a large order: burrito de birria, two tamales, pozole, large bag of chips , guacamole, drinks . After driving 30 minutes back to my hotel, I opened the bag to find the tamales were completely missing. Then I tried the pozole, and it was so salty it was absolutely inedible. On top of that, they didn't include a single condiment--just a bland, overly salty soup. I tried calling for 30 minutes straight--no answer. Left a voicemail--no call back. Not that night, not the next morning. Completely ignored. The next day, I went in person to give them a chance to make it right. I had my order number and explained everything clearly. Instead of even attempting to help, they refused to do anything without a physical receipt. No effort to look up the order, no accountability, no customer care. Just excuses. Expecting someone to drive 30 minutes back with uneaten food just to prove a mistake is ridiculous. I ended up having to go to Wendy's just to eat dinner after spending money here--that alone says everything. Mistakes happen, but the way a business handles them is what matters. This place clearly doesn't care once they have your money. This wasn't my first issue here, but it will definitely be my last.

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.
