She explained the specials, noting what they were out of, etc. I had it narrowed down to 2 options and she provided her opinion, so I landed on the Pork y Pickle with a side of chips (which you can pay to upgrade to another side, if you'd like) and an iced brown sugar latte. I really liked the vibe of the place - fun decor, not your average/typical plain & simple - it had it's own personality, which I really appreciated. It's not a big space, but they have a few tables and a several spaces for bar type seating - most seating is raised, just FYI in case that matters to you. The pork sandwich ended up being a little bit of a sloppy mess, but in a good way. It had a great flavor, was a good sized portion, and definitely didn't leave me hungry. It came with BBQ on the side in case you didn't want it. Definitely a tasty option. My iced latte - not sure if I just didn't dig the flavor of the syrup or what, but it was just ok - wouldn't necessarily go back for that alone, but I would certainly go back to try some more of the food items, which all sounded yummy, It's a cool spot, with an interesting menu - you should check it out!

The service was lovely- everyone inside was so genuinely friendly and helpful with us ordering with our busy toddler. High chairs available are inside, that was a plus! The coffee was delightful. I had a chocolate chip cookie, I am a bit of a cookie snob so it doesn't matter if it's 9 am or 9 pm, I'm gonna eat one. That said, it was yummy! Soft and chewy and the chocolate chunks were so good. We also had the kid's waffle meal, a sausage egg and cheese waffle and a croissant sandwich. All were yummy and we loved the syrup that came with. Thank you for a great experience! We will be back.

The staff is very sweet and I like that they are really creative with their drinks. I've tried a few different drinks and they are definitely on the sweeter side, which isn't my personal preference.

I got an Iced chai which I didn't love - not because it wasn't good but just because the flavor was a little different than what I usually get/like for my chais.. still good though. The order was ready on time and there is a little order pickup station on the right by the register. The food tasted good and hit the spot for a quick but filling and fresh breakfast. Seemed to be a go-to "hot" spot for the USMC crowd!

I always get an iced matcha latte with honey, which is one of the best matchas in Charleston. The whipped honey espresso is also a fan favorite and it's great! My go-to food order is the whipped ricotta toast and banana bread. The banana bread has flaky sea salt on top and it's perfectly gooey and flavorful! My friend got the shrimp salad and a glass of white wine, which both looked extremely appetizing. While it's a great spot for lunch or breakfast, it's also a great spot for a drink later on in the night, with free apertivo with the purchase of a cocktail! What could be better than that.

I got a mocha and my husband got the banana pudding latte and both were so good! I got a medium but in hindsight should've gotten a large! We went around 9:30 on a Friday morning and even though there were quite a few people sitting inside the cafe, the patio was surprisingly empty. It was one of those perfect fall mornings where it was slightly chilly but lots of sunlight too. We spent a good hour here just making the most of the pretty surroundings, perfect weather and delicious drinks. If I ever find myself in Charleston again, there is no doubt that I will make my way to City Lights.

The restaurant was packed, and we waited about 20 minutes just to be seated. Once we sat down, we ordered right away, expecting the kitchen to already be busy. However, we ended up waiting an entire hour for our food. About halfway through, we asked our server how much longer it would be, and the response was simply that there was "no telling" because they were very busy. While we understand restaurants can get busy, waiting an hour after ordering with no meaningful update is unacceptable. By the time our food finally arrived, we no longer had time to enjoy it. We had somewhere else to be and had to rush through our meal. Because of the long wait and frustration, I honestly can't say whether the food was amazing or not, it was overshadowed by the experience. The service itself was okay, and the atmosphere was okay, but neither made up for the excessive wait. We also overheard the table next to us, a party of two, talking about how they had already been waiting 40 minutes for their food, so it was clear we weren't the only customers frustrated by the delays. For a first visit, this was a very poor impression. We understand that busy restaurants can have longer wait times, but better communication and more realistic expectations would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that it will most likely be our first and last visit.

The first time we sat outside in their newly renovated outdoor patio, which was so nice and beautiful. Our server greeted us with some sweetened espresso and cinnamon, which was a nice treat. The empanadas here are insane and you must get this. This was probably the best empanada I've had at a restaurant. The second time we returned, we dined inside. The service was a bit slower this time and it took longer for us to get our food. We ordered some of their specialty coffees, which came in these cute mugs and glasses. This time we tried their Arepas de plantano that came with cheese and a mole sauce. This was also very good, especially with the sauce. We ordered the giant huevos rancheros platter to share and it truly did take up almost the entire table lol. They put all the toppings in separate dishes so you could build your own essentially. This was a lot of food and we had plenty leftover. This could've fed 4-5 people! The only disappointing thing about this was that we didn't get any steak as shown on the menu and just chicken. When we mentioned it the server who was very nice but didn't speak much English said she told us but I was completely unaware. Everything still tasted good but we did wish there was some steak along with the chicken. The French toast dish was decadent and sweet, but the bread itself was moist and crispy on the edges. There was a small discrepancy at the end with our bill because the price of the platter didn't match what was on the receipt. They were unable to adjust it but gave us a gift card for the balance. Overall we still had a good time and would definitely come back. It was much more of a unique brunch experience that I've had in Charleston so far.
