Just had a great New Year's day brunch bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's. I chose the bloody Mary. I had the eggs. Benedict was excellent. And at least three bloody Mary's lol. The bartender was also waiting tables. She was quick and fast with tables in the bar. Excellent service. There was another girl running around taking care of tables and she came over constantly wasn't a waiter, but she was always there and eager to help with everything we needed. I had a bridal shower event at cafe on the green and it was a good experience. This restaurant sits right on the golf course so I assume all the golfers come here for a bite to eat or a drink when golfing. They have a spacious indoors and an outdoor patio seating area that overlooks some of the golf fields. My food was delicious! I got filet mignon and tiramasiu for dessert. Service wasn't as fast as I'd like but seemed short staff. I asked for the steak to be medium and it seems to be more on the well done side. Fairly quiet at 7p but by 8p the dining area began to fill & so did the level of noise to a level that made it difficult to hear my dinner dates conversation. I went here last night with my family for christmas eve and it was mediocre to say the least. The food was okay but nothing crazy, the drinks were not strong at all, and the service was so annoying at times. They would see one plate and rush over to take it out of the way, this rush caused oil to be spilled onto my mother's scarf. When i tell you that the food at this restaurant is great!!!! Listen, my mother in law invited us to this restaurant for a celebration. The atmosphere was great. Even though it seemed like there was a lot of celebration going on on that particular Sunday it still wasn't loud. It's attached to a golf course so there's a nice little scenery. The food was a solid 9/10. My spouse had the *Griled salmon, capers, garlic, fresh herbs served in a white wine sauce 9.5/10. While i had the *Filet Mignon, in a light Gorogonzoia brandy sauce. 9/10 I ordered a medium steak and when i tell you that it was cooked and seasoned perfectly!!!! It was so delicious. The reduced Gorogonzoia brandy sauce complimented the steak perfectly. I cant recall my servers name but i know that he was from Peru -Lima to be exact. Excellent service and food on 6/26/21, we had a rehearsal wedding dinner at cafe on the green for 32 people. We were not sure what to expect with our meal choices. We were able to offer our guests 3 different entree choices, and upon talking to our guests everyone loved their food we had no negative comments at all. We also included a desert choice of cheesecake or chocolate moose cake, and again it was delicious . The prices were reasonable and much less then what our (wedding hotel) was going to charge us. A fresh salad to start (I mean fresh greens and tomatoes), choice of 5 entrees, each with a beautiful presentation, choice of a glass of wine, beer or soda. I had a good portion of a Chardonnay. The best thing about this restaurant is the bartender Sam. My golf partner and I have been eating here for 2+ years and we have been so disappointed this year. One of the signature appetizers is Brussel sprouts. They used to be cooked to perfection with a delicious balsamic glaze; this is no longer the case. Lately they have been tough and tasteless. None of the dishes we have eaten recently have been consistent. One week they are ok, the next they are awful. Thank goodness for bartender Sam and her kind, caring service; she is a gem. Cafe on the Green was one of the top rated restaurants in Danbury when we first moved here 20+ years ago. It was our go to for special occasions. The service and food quality have steadily declined and the management does not seem to care. Such a pity! This restaurant fails to take COVID seriously, almost to an embarrassing degree. Every waitress and bartender has a "cafe on the green" mask; not one wore it behind the bar, not one wore it while serving customers inside and waitresses only wore one half the time while on the patio. Not one employee wore plastic gloves while serving drinks or food, our waitress even touched the top of our cans while handing them out. The patio tables are literally on top of each other. The phrase "6ft apart" means literally nothing to them. Customers waltzed around the patio, not a mask in sight. The management and owners should be ashamed of themselves. I understand we are in a pandemic however, the behavior of one waiter at Cafe on The Green was inappropriate and out of line on every level. My waiter took off his jacket and set it on the chair next to us which was strange in itself. He then proceeded to make myself and my date very uncomfortable and felt unsafe. The waiter had no mask on either!!!! The topper was when he randomly took my date's glass of wine without saying anything. It was very strange and we ended up leaving. The cook then walked us out and apologized but told us the waiter may have been drunk. Truthfully, it seemed he was on something more than alcohol. My daughter and a friend went to dinner last night at Cafe on the Green and wound up leaving before even eating dinner. They felt very uncomfortable and unsafe! Granted this is during Covid but they were the only two young ladies in the restaurant, the waiter that waited on them was completely drunk or on something else and out of line, slurring his words, couldn't understand a simple request for dinner, two eggplant Parmesan dinners, randomly took one of the glasses of wine off their table. I think this is disgusting. I've already called the restaurant to complain. Who knows if anything will be done with this waiter but I would not advise going here without a bodyguard. For a 'Dressy' place on a golf course i expected better (top to bottom) really Cafe on the Green is not much to behold. The decor was fine, your normal arraignment for this sort of place barring the cobwebs in the drapery or the litter on the patio, not good. My appetizer might have been the highlight of the meal, little neck clams in a fine sauce. Good start to the meal. I had several removes of amuses, various puree of... and every meal comes with a salad (bad tomatoes and over cold cucumbers) made it so-so at best. The main course was a seafood grill with over cooked everything, shrimp, scallop and lobster. Everything on the plate was over done except the green beans and they were fine. My husband and I have eaten at Cafe on the Green several times over the past year and have always enjoyed our meals and our dining experience. We decided to join them for Valentines Day and we, once again, had an outstanding experience! Everything from the apps to the desserts did not disappoint! I had the Rack of Lamb which along with the vegetables was cooked perfectly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his pasta with seafood as well as his tiramisu. My crème brûlée was perfect. There were also many great choices on the wine list. The entire staff were polite and respectful and always approached our table with a smile! The service is really excellent and I enjoyed that they were attentive and very efficient in bringing water and clearing the plates as soon as they were finished. The atmosphere walked a fine line between golf course and Italian cliche but it works out quite well. A tip is to dress nicely. It's not a place where casual would make sense. I was less than impressed with my meal. The farfalle dish that I ordered was well past al dente and quite soupy. I had a chuckle at the dish description that said "imported pasta" like it's some sort of fine wine. I would appreciate fresh pasta over something imported that's going to be overcooked. The sauce that came with it was delicious though and carried me trough the rest of the dish. I got the Napoleon dessert and I could immediately tell it was from the freezer because it had that slight freezer burn aftertaste. Ate here with my girlfriend on valentines Day. I had made a reservation for 830pm and arrived and 825pm only to find a line of people in the entrance. They had decided to not care about reservations and just went with a first come first serve system. By the time we were seated it was 900pm. It took the waiter 15 minutes to come over and ask if we wanted any wine, then an additional 45 to come back for our order. Went here for my dad's birthday. My parents have been here for other events and said it was pretty good and a well known establishment, so we decided to bring the whole family. Big Mistake!!! Below are my comments for the evening: 1. Doesn't care if you die. My 5 yr old nephew is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame. The place is outdated - just ask the red wall to wall carpeting. 4. Food: I'm not Italian, but I lived in Staten Island for 4 years so I know the difference between authenticity and overpriced subpar Italian. This was the latter. Delicious food and great cocktails! All tables have a great view of the golf course. Its beautiful anytime do the year but even more so during fall foliage. The food is great. I am delighted to be able to re-review Cafe on the Green. We had a lovely dinner there tonight, after a conversation with the owner who reached out to me based on my previous review. He explained that they'd lost their chef for a bit, but that now he's back. We enjoyed a delicious meal - all of the things that I mentioned in my first review have been corrected and the menu has been restored to it's previous glory. Gone are the mix-and-match sauce and protein choices. They've been replaced with a new selection of Italian dishes. We both were enticed by the specials - which were non existent on our last visit - which were both excellent. I had rack of lamb with a delicious Merlot sauce and my husband had prime rib with a horseradish mayonnaise sauce. The service level was much better this visit - water glasses filled when empty, plates cleared quickly. I'm delighted to be able to put Cafe on the Green back on our list of dinner spots! read more

Second the Cafe team is so attentive, eager to please....really great team - nice people! Third - there are not 50 plus flat screens and maddening noise....we enjoyed a quiet evening, great views of Richter Park golf course - nice lighted - Diane & I could actually chat and hear each other - LOL. The food is always great - fresh - prepared to order - nice portions - wine and drink selection is top notch. When we first arrived at 5:30pm, no other patrons were in the restaurant on a Saturday! None! After an hour or so, others started to arrive. Wait staff was very attentive (as there were no other tables to tend to). The food was all very good, from the NY strip to the snapper. Appetizers were delicious. The whole experience was surprising as the restaurant is affiliated with a golf course which would lead you to think the better time to visit is during summer months. Not so. Carefully prepared entrees and polite staff make the experience in the off season very pleasurable. Prices were at the upper end of reasonable. Not terrible. Again, a surprise. The views play a big part into the allure of the place. So summer would certainly be more visually pleasing. read more
