I think that says a lot about how much we enjoyed this lol. The drive to the farm was beautiful. Yes the last 15-30 minutes are a little rough and narrow. The views are stunning once you arrive. Tal (likely spelling her name wrong, so sorry!) was a sweetheart during the tour! I learned about the coffee making process, how much effort it takes to be an organic farm and to truly appreciate that cup of espresso. I'm unsure about other farms but all the coffee beans here are harvested by hand! After we did a very brief walk to the coffee plants, we went to try some freshly brewed coffee. Roasted the regular and natural way, with delicious chocolate and banana biscotti treats as well. We also loved all the fruit trees we saw, even star apples! We listened to Israel passionately tell us his story and how Sandra Farms began. My husband and I could've listened to him speak all day - and truly hope he decides one day to write a book as we'd be first in line to purchase it. You will feel as if you climbed your way up to Heaven. The views and mountain breezes will be etched in your heart forever! The roads can in areas be a bit of a challenge but we promise you that it is worth each and every droplet of sweat. When the tour is over you will taste some of the best - if not the best coffee you've ever tasted, as well as chocolates that are to die for. The views driving up there are gorgeous as well as the view from the dining area. Unfortunately, we went on a Friday and there was no guided tour. We still had a great time talking to the owners, spending family time, and eating. Our guide and employee, Edwin was super helpful and nice. We were walked through the process, start to finish and saw the orange trees and coffee trees on the farm. We purchased a bag of beans when we were finished and provided a donation to the farm because the tour was no charge. This farm is working for sustainability and fair treatment of laborers. Buy higher priced coffee, the quality is better and it's probably going to a place like this!

This coffee heaven is nestled in in the hills of Lares which sits 2 hours outside of Old SJ. This places it a well worth the experience day trip. The best part of the trip is the walk up coffee tour that's free. You get to walk up to the machinery and the employees welcoming you to show you how the coffee is made. You can see it from natural coffee to bagged coffee. Please be aware that the employees don't speak English which I could be 100% wrong, but despite that you can see the whole roasting process - FREE! I'd also invite you to check out their coffee shop where they sell homemade baked goods, they have a few merch items, and the best part is the back porch. Let. Me. Tell. You... the views alone are wonderful. Take in a fresh latte made with love. If you want a little bit more of a relaxed ambience take a tiny stroll underneath the cafe and unwind at the water mill and see the birds... btw there is another set of restrooms there. So I highly recommend taking a small trek out into the mountains to grab a pure taste of Puerto Rico's finest coffee.
