We happened into this cafe walking around the town center. We were blown away by the food, service and overall quality. The coffee is fantastic, the food is fresh and delicious. The service is by far some of the best I've ever had on the island. We don't find ourselves in this part of town often, but will be back should we be here again. read more

Maleo presents mediocre food, mediocre ambiance, and mediocre service in an otherwise very pretty and expensive hotel. If you are excited about the nice environs of the Ponce Plaza hotel, temper your expectations as you enter Maleo for breafast. I found the espresso to be harsh, weak, and only served in thin paper cups. The omlets were dry, somewhat small, and had meager amount of filling. Cheese was placed on top and not melted very well at all. The potatoes were a bit hard and oily. The acoustics in the cafe make it quite hard to hear your partner. Just harsh sounds of other diners scraping their chairs and forks. Many chairs are hard metal or plastic with lots of high top tables. This is redeemed partially by the nice large windows overlooking the central plaza in Ponce, nice hardwood floors, and tasteful decorations on the walls. But the bland food, high prices, and poor espresso made it hard to enjoy a meal at this place. I wish they would bring your food to the other nice areas around the hotel such as the lovely pool, pleasant lobby, reading nook upstairs, or other pleasant hideaways at this hotel. Instead, it feels like eating Burger King breakfast in a bus station. I suggest you go elsewhere for breakfast. read more

Ehhh definitely not what I was looking for in a "coffee shop" It's inside a super small casino. It may have been because they were closing but welp the service and the product were both forgettable. I wish they would've said they were closing as about 3-4 more people walked in. We ordered and espresso with condensed milk called el bombon. We waiting about 10 minutes only to receive a tiny shot of espresso with well Im not sure. It was like warm at best and we were told to stir it well because the milk was on the bottom. It was a bitter chocolate tasting concoction that was neither worth the time or money spent. Very disappointing considering I'm a coffee lover and at that moment desperately needed it. read more

I got the Fish Tacos with Sriracha sauce on the side and Mocha Cafe Latte here. The Sriracha was hotter than usual .. lol .. sure we got a nice kick out of it though .. UNTIL I asked for skim milk instead of regular milk. There is a $1 charge for nonfat milk. Outrageous!! Last time I checked the price for regular and nonfat milk was the same. That's just plain abusive and greedy. The frozen mocha coffee (with regular milk of course) was good tho. read more

The coffee here is not great and a bit overpriced. It is burnt sometimes, and they add a LOT of sweetener to the drinks, even if you ask for less. Better off going to Coffee House at the Fox Hotel for higher quality coffee drinks. read more

I'm going to explain why I am giving this place such a low rate. I'm on vacation in Ponce with my husband and we decided to go have breakfast in this place. We place our order through this glass where you can't barely hear the waitress but anyways we order two coffees, the croquet Madame turkey and a grilled cheese sandwich. I pay for my food and take a seat. First we get our coffees, and a minute later I get my grilled cheese sandwich. We start talking as we wait but after like 10 minutes I noticed the food hasn't arrived so I get up to ask the waitress about my hubby's food and she tells me she only put mine. I guess she heard wrong and thought I was changing the croquet madame turkey for the grilled cheese sandwich. Not sure how that happened but I didn't make a big fuss. She place my order, I pay and take a sit. I'm thinking she is going to tell the cook to put a rush on our food because we have been there for a bit but she didn't. We wait another 30 minutes and we see everyone who arrives after us getting their food before my husband's sandwich. He gets turned off by it and says let's go. Go get your money back and let's go. Waitress should had put a rush on his food because she made the mistake. Now here is what get me mad. I go up to the counter and I explain that to who I believe is the manager and she tells me that the food is being made and she doesn't want the food to go to waste. And I'm telling her my husband doesn't want it. We are here on vacation and We have things to do. She is literally going back-and-forth with me as to why she couldn't give me my refund. In the end I told her I am the customer and if I am dissatisfied with how my order was handle you shouldn't give me a hard time. I should be entitled to my refund. She did give me my money back after I had to explained to her that the error was done on their end. From my experienced as a waitress, I was always told not to argue with customer. I was always told to apologize and make it right if the mistake was done by us. Instead she made it seem like I should be happy my food was finally coming out after I had to come up to the counter and complain. Need better training with customer service and to me. Incredible couple behind the counter. The prime example of bad manners and Customerservice. It was like a stare-down contest. They look at us and we looked at them. No greeting, no talking, the lady behind the counter would look at us and continue fixing the plastic ware. The gentleman just stare as if saying " What in the world are you doing here?" Finally my wife asked the lady for help because the gentleman left she walked away and helped a lady that came in after us! I figure with that attitude it was better not to order any food, so I went with a 7up. The rest of the family ordered food. We will see how that goes. read more

Love love love this place! So cute! I'm staying in the ramada (which it's inside of) and my room included breakfast each morning. A delicious ham and cheese sandwich on sweet bread and coffee or juice. The coffee is amazing (Puerto Rican coffee is so tasty!) and the sandwich was great. Also ordered an orange juice which was delicious. They have cupcakes, macaroons, brownies, cookies, tiramisu, all kinds of yummy sweets too. Can't wait to come back later to try something. Located next to the ramada inn in the square. Nice decor and ambiance . They speak English which was nice with my limited Spanish . Coffee is excellent. We had a mocha and latte. Melao is simply the best coffee in town. It is at a good price range in comparison with other coffee shops in the area plus it has a WAY better quality than your average shop in town. Cute little coffee shop in Ponce. Tried the Bombon and Carmel Macchiato. The Bombon was thick and creamy, a little too sweet, but mixed with the Macchiato blended into perfect espresso heaven on top of espresso heaven. The Macchiato is prefect on its own, semi-bitter with frothy foam milk on top. Definitely a great place to stop by for some caffeine fun. read more
