This coffee heaven is nestled in in the hills of Lares which sits 2 hours outside of Old SJ. This places it a well worth the experience day trip. The best part of the trip is the walk up coffee tour that's free. You get to walk up to the machinery and the employees welcoming you to show you how the coffee is made. You can see it from natural coffee to bagged coffee. Please be aware that the employees don't speak English which I could be 100% wrong, but despite that you can see the whole roasting process - FREE! I'd also invite you to check out their coffee shop where they sell homemade baked goods, they have a few merch items, and the best part is the back porch. Let. Me. Tell. You... the views alone are wonderful. Take in a fresh latte made with love. If you want a little bit more of a relaxed ambience take a tiny stroll underneath the cafe and unwind at the water mill and see the birds... btw there is another set of restrooms there. So I highly recommend taking a small trek out into the mountains to grab a pure taste of Puerto Rico's finest coffee.

A Hidden Gem That Took My Breath Away!…read more Let me tell you -- I have eaten at some incredible places around the world, but THIS spot? It's on another level! From the very first spoonful of their Asopado de Gandules (pigeon peas soup with rice), my taste buds threw a full-blown fiesta! Every bite was like a warm Caribbean hug -- rich, comforting, and bursting with flavor that only true island soul food can deliver. And then... the tostones made from pana (breadfruit). OH. MY. GOODNESS. Crispy, golden perfection on the outside, soft and savory on the inside -- it was pure magic. Whoever thought to make tostones from pana deserves a culinary crown . The service? Flawless. Friendly smiles, genuine warmth, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family. And the view -- breathtaking! Imagine savoring these unforgettable flavors while surrounded by tropical beauty that looks straight out of a postcard. This place isn't just a restaurant -- it's an experience. Food for the soul, joy for the heart, and a memory I'll be talking about for years.

We were…read moredriving from Rincon to San Juan and decided to take this detour to explore another facet of Puerto Rico. We arrived just in time for their 10am tour (call ahead and check availability, it's $20 per person). Our tour guide was fantastic! The coffee estate, the buildings, the little canal, and the stream with the waterfall they take you to are breathtaking. I would definitely come back and spend the night here. The place also works as a wedding venue (there's a chapel on site). At the end of the tour you can buy some coffee (probably some of the best cappuccino I've had on the island thus far). The tour took about 1-1.5 hours. Worth every dollar. It's so serene. Everything is constructed from natural materials. There are peacocks roaming around. The air is fresh. The water pristine. I loved it. Although the drive up the mountain is a little tricky (drivers are also a little crazy) and we did get a bit lost (GPS for some reason can't find the place), we called the hacienda and asked for directions which worked well. There are also signs along the road. Don't let this out you off though - it's all part of the adventure!
