Went by on a weekday for a tour of the coffee plantation. This was worth every moment!! We were driving from Rincon to San Juan and decided to take this detour to explore another facet of Puerto Rico. We arrived just in time for their 10am tour (call ahead and check availability, it's $20 per person). Our tour guide was fantastic! The coffee estate, the buildings, the little canal, and the stream with the waterfall they take you to are breathtaking. I would definitely come back and spend the night here. The place also works as a wedding venue (there's a chapel on site). At the end of the tour you can buy some coffee (probably some of the best cappuccino I've had on the island thus far). The tour took about 1-1.5 hours. Worth every dollar. It's so serene. Everything is constructed from natural materials. There are peacocks roaming around. The air is fresh. The water pristine. I loved it. Although the drive up the mountain is a little tricky (drivers are also a little crazy) and we did get a bit lost (GPS for some reason can't find the place), we called the hacienda and asked for directions which worked well. Wow!!!! This place is gorgeous. Came here for a tour two days ago and let me just say the experience was absolutely everything. Jackie, our tour guide was spectacular, knowledgeable, and super patient. We walked the grounds which were all si spotless and drank expression at the end. Everything from booking the trip, service, and attentiveness were all top notch. I would totally do this again. I researched haciendas extensively because I didn't want to waste my time and I was so happy I chose this one. Very rich in history. read more

First of all the drive to get to this bucolic and rustic location is breathtaking with views of the central mountain range in PR. That alone is worth it. Secondly, we arrived unannounced thinking that we could take some photos. This place is very secluded and it's gated and has a security guard. He was however very amiable and understanding and quickly made arrangements for us to enter. We were graced that Jackie was as our guide. She was amazing and full of knowledge about this beautifully reconstructed coffee hacienda from the 19th century. We were able to fully tour the site with her even though it appeared that we were going to get drenched by the afternoon thunderstorms that occur on the island. You will be taken back almost 200 years as many of the mechanisms and structures are back to their natural form. Jackie iterated on the style of life that was built around this period and the way the original owners lived. As a Puerto Rican myself with roots in this particular sector of the Island, I was able to imagine the way of life of my ancestors. This place was very yummy. I had a Nutella Frape and chai Latte which were both delicious. We also ordered some appetizers "the sampler" and it was very good. The service though was okay but our food did take some time to come out. My chai latte did not come out until I finished my food which was a bit disappointing. This food other wise was very good and had an amazing tropical scenery. read more

This is a very quaint place for a light lunch or a coffee. Came by on a Sunday afternoon with my parents and it was full but not packed. Mami ordered sopa de gandules which she thoroughly enjoyed. Papi ordered a sandwich "el tuyo" and I preferred the arepas con bacalaito and the garlic bread. Everything was very tasty. The staff is very well trained. Customer service is something that is lacking throughout most of Puerto Rico unfortunately, however here they go out of their way to make everything great for you. Very nice place to come by for lunch or just a quick snack. Although it is very out-of-the-way, it's worth the drive. Come check it out! read more

This is one of the best restaurants around Puerto Rico. It was a great surprise when we came across this magic place on top of a hill. From the service to the amazing scenic view this place screams " Puerto Rico". The coffee is way better than starbucks and bustelo. You will have many choices when it comes to coffee. I had the cloves and nutmeg. The food taste like grandma is in the back cooking. It's real authentic Puerto Rican food. I ordered the "sancocho" it was to die for. We also had the plantain with skirt steak as an appetizer.It's worth the trip coming from San Juan. The prices were very reasonable I would choose this little bistro anytime! read more

If you like waiting for your drink for 35min to be told ones you ask where's my drink, that we are sorry we are out and we didn't tell you or offer something else, Feel free to stop by. Also if that wasn't enough the waitress forgets one plate even after repeated times we asked for our missing plate. At the end we had to leave with one party member hungry since everyone else had to eat in since it too 45min for the first plate to arrive. It's sad I have to rate this restaurant so low because the food was good but defiantly not great enough to overcome the worst service I've experienced in Puerto Rico. FYI: even if your waitress write down your order in her iPhone like ours did, don't think she's actually going to get it write. read more

In the coffee growing mountains of Western Puerto Rico a new generation of well appointed coffee houses is cropping up. A long trip for just a cup of coffee from San Juan (over one hour) get some lechón as good as Guavate ; visit the quaint town square with 18th Century Cathedral and then have some amazing coffee and deserts overlooking the green mountains of Lares. read more

The views are nice while you sip on great coffee served on beautiful china. The ambience is really rustic and takes you back in time. It was perfect for our little coffee adventure through the mountains. Came for the coffee but stayed for lunch. The almojábanas were good and not too heavy and the salad was fresh and refreshing. Personnel is friendly. However, st the time that we ate lunch, two of the servers left the third one alone to take care of 5 tables, on of which had 15 people. Result was delay in service. My wife and daughter could not eat the tostones because they were very hard. The pork chop was crispy and hard, but because of the hunger they ate it. Why did it take two people to interview a prospective waitress? Also, the salad never arrived. Two out of four people were not satisfied, ll in spite of the fact that the place is beautiful and the people were great. Even with all this, we will come back to give the restaurant a second chance. Wonderful food, beautiful arrangements and flavors.. the scenery is gorgeous and the service is on point. Great experience and will come back.
