I would label the ambience of this place as "old-school donut shop." You order at the counter and sit at tables or booths. (There's a table and a few chairs out front as well.) A couple of the booth seats have cracks in the vinyl. The decor is coffee-related posters and a few plants. Customers run the gamut from techies grabbing a to-go coffee, to people with laptops holding business meetings, to retirees, to parents with kids.
Prices are reasonable -- drinks are definitely priced cheaper here than a lot of places. There are breakfast plates and then many things to choose from in the vitrine: Brotchen, pretzels, croissants, donuts, cookies, brownies, pudding. Plus Borek, a few salads and savory lunch items. Espresso machine, hot drinks and a cooler of cold drinks to choose from.
Right by the Strassenbahn stop for Prenzenlauer Allee/Danziger Strasse, northbound. Proprietor is cheerful and kind. Is it a gourmet bakery with the best croissants in town? No -- just a nice neighborhood spot with a comfortable ambience. read more
