When I was there (summer 2023) the food was nice thoughtful reasonably priced stuff. Tea, coffee, beer (radler) etc. Nice! I had a hard time finding it on foot with Google maps but I was glad I did.

Cafe Berio is a classic, old-fashioned cafe, best known for its wide choice of breakfast offerings,…read moreand coffee and cake in the afternoons, though you can also have a full meal here. It is popular with gay clientele (and has been for decades) but actually has a wider mix of clientele than that might suggest, out of season. The decor hasn't changed in years: there's a main room downstairs (with a semi-private "glass box" for a private meeting), more seating upstairs when they are busy. May people prefer to sit outside and people watch, though. On our last visit we met friends there for coffee and cake. as ever, the cakes were great (and though they're over €5, portions are generous). Staff were happy to let us linger, which is just as well because it was very busy, and service was a little slow, but friendly enough. But we're still happy to go back!

It's quite stylish inside with a bit of bohemian art thrown in for good measure. It's quite young and trendy but don't let that put you off - the food is ace. I've enjoyed several things here, from scrambled eggs and bacon on toast to yoghurt, muesli and fruit. It's always beautifully presented and great value for money.

Eisschokolade: More like a milkshake than a coffee, but I'm not complaining. Very rich chocolate sauce, lots of ice cream and strong espresso taste. This will make your breakfast a very happy time. Breakfast Heinrich and Theodore: Wow! This was huge! It says it's for 2 people, but you could probably feed 3-4 people with this. The most impressive aspect is the tower of meat and cheese slices. So many types, you'll get full just eating one of each type. The fruit yogurt cup is refreshing against all the meat & cheese, since it's a bunch of fresh fruit lightly tossed in yogurt. The bread basket is nice, with like 6 pieces. It's especially fun to visit the jam bar and load up on all the different fruit flavors. Also, you get 3 eggs any way you like We were so stuffed afterwards!

Inside the Café, it is filled with Art Nouveau style, not really my thing, but people who love it, they will like this place a lot. It has a good atmosphere, can spend some quality time with friends here. The breakfast is pretty good, and the price is worth it. The waiter who served us was super kind as well. Couldn't find a turkey dinner anywhere, so I went for a Viennese Schnitzel -- it was incredible. No over-exaggeration, just perfect. I grew up with a mom who loved cooking schnitzel, so I have lots of reference here. This was delish. The soups are really good too. Ambience is perfect. And service has always been great. The breakfast omelette was good too, but nothing out-of-this-world, so I wouldn't say this place is at the top of my list for breakfast as far as strictly food, BUT the atmosphere alone makes it amazing so I still would come back here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
