What a lovely cafe in a beautiful historic town. It has two levels and the upstairs is very cozy with big country dining tables and sofas. The main level has a long counter where you put your order in after picking from the menu of breakfast and lunch items. They have muffins and a variety of flavored coffees. Definitely a must if you are in or near Cumberland in WV. read more

Bottom Line: Cute cafe serving coffee, tea, breakfast and lunch. We visited on a dreary rainy Saturday to pick up sandwiches for our ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. We called our order in about 25 minutes in advance. Downtown Cumberland seemed busy that day, it was raining and we didn't know where to park so that was no fun. Since it was Saturday and we were going to be quick we ultimately parked in a business' private lot - not ideal. Once inside Cafe Mark it was super cozy but we still had to wait in line about 10+ minutes to pay for our order which was two sandwiches with chips. After we left we realized that we didn't get our chips. I guess we were supposed to grab them off the rack but we didn't know that and it was communicated to us. Darn, I was really craving chips on that rainy Saturday but I didn't *need* them. Anyway, our sandwiches were good. My husband had the Turkey Tornado with turkey, swiss, avocado, lettuce, tomato and aioli. I had the Turkey Club with turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and oregano mayo. The sauces really make the sandwiches and I am so glad we took our own lunch on the train ride so we didn't have to scramble for a lunch option in Frostburg. Several of our fellow passengers were eyeing up our gourmet sandwiches asking where we got them. The employees were super friendly and the menu overall was very appealing. All of the customers seemed very content. Next time I'd be happy to try the Ham, Brie and Fig sandwich or the Breakfast Reuben. And next time I'll be smarter about parking and the chips! read more

First impressions say a lot. The vibe of this cafe is reminiscent of a bohemian coffee shop. Everything we ate was delicious--salads, pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches---and the drinks were superb (GREAT coffee, boba tea, and smoothies). 100% recommend, especially for families. read more

I cannot recommend Cafe Mark enough. Every single time we go the staff is welcoming, atmosphere is calming, and everything I've ordered is perfect. This morning my toddler accidentally kicked my drink out of my hand. Staff immediately got on it. One started mopping, one started wiping the table, and one made me a whole new drink free of charge. With an impressively extensive menu, everything is made to order fresh--you can actually see the chefs cooking while you wait for your coffee! From handcrafted coffees (with extensive flavors like Snickers, S'mores, etc.) and several tea options, to sweet and savory breakfast options, and even ice cream--you can absolutely find something for everyone here. Since they've done a lot of renovating, the place looks great and they've significantly changed the menu. Luckily, they have loose teas now and a couple French toast options. Today I ordered the strawberry banana stuffed French toast and it was so tasty. Cream cheese in the middle, banana and strawberries covered it, and tasty cream on the top. I think I ate it in 4 minutes. I know they're working out the kinks with all the new changes. They misplaced my order ticket, which delayed the French toast from coming out, but they refunded some cash- pretty big of them. read more

This is a cute little coffee shop in Cumberland's Historic District. I never came here while growing up in the area because everyone claimed it as being too expensive, however, now that I live in a big city, this place certainly is not as expensive as it could be. Today was my second visit (first one being a long long time ago), and although service was a bit slow, I was not in a rush to get in and out. I'm lactose intolerant, but they had several options for dairy-free milks (almond, soy, and oat). I'm disappointed they didn't hav coconut milk which is my preference, but was extremely surprised that they did an excellent job of masking the nutty taste in my mocha that I strongly dislike about almond milk! This is the first coffee shop I've ever been to to mask that so well and I'm extremely impressed. My reasoning for giving Cafe Mark 4 stars instead of 5 is because I've only had the coffee (have not tried the food, I'll have to next visit), the backup of coffee orders they struggled to keep up with, and it's concerning that there is no shield on the stove/grill area which means a customer could easily cough on the food being cooked while waiting on their drinks. read more

Though not a connoisseur of coffee by any means, I do enjoy a great cup and have been trying to get into it. Traveling to Cumberland after taking the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail, a cup of coffee was a must. While it was a hot day, I ordered a hot, 20oz caramel mocha, and the coffee absolutely was worth the $4.75 that I paid. The coffee was moderately strong: weaker than Starbucks but stronger than Dunkin' Donuts, I'd say, to use two coffee shop monsters as gages. Not to mention, the atmosphere is perfect for any coffee-shop-goer; the WiFi was fast, the music added the perfect touch for a coffee shop, and the feel was rustic and one designed for relaxation. So grab yourself a nice book or bring some work to do and checkout Cafe Mark, but be sure to grab a nice cup of coffee when in town! You will not be disappointed! read more

This is our second visit to Cafe Mark. It's just as good as our first. The Beat breakfast sandwich was delicious, seconded by a breakfast platter and croissant sandwich. Coffee was nice and hot, well brewed. A chai tea latte also hit the spot on this cold morning. If you're road-tripping and want a non-chain breakfast I recommend this for quality, price and proximity to the interstate, as well as supporting a small business. On the way home from a short road trip from PA and WV I found this amazing restaurant/diner/cafe in the historic district of the city. Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and very authentic place to get a sense of the local atmosphere. Places like these make me happy. I ordered an egg white pita sandwich. The waiter was very flexible to substitute, add and remove toppings from my small lunch, very delicious if I may add. Please stop by whenever you drive by this old city of Cumberland which was an important crossroads of railroad transportation that connected west and east in the mid 19 century. read more

Cafe Mark does a good job holding down the market as the only legit coffee spot in town. They pretty much have everything you could want when it comes to accommodations. Free wifi, plenty of seating options whether you're alone or with friends, good food, and good coffee. My wife is from Cumberland so when we're in the area CM is always a great spot for brunch. She loves their sandwiches for breakfast/lunch, I love their omelets. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but my wife and her friends love all the options, I usually get chai lattes and they're always good. My only complaint is that they cook everything out front so you always leave smelling like food. However, it smells great while you're there. :-) Whether you're looking to relax with some friends or bust out your laptop and get some work done, CF is a great place to do it. read more
