My sunny side up eggs were the most perfectly done I've ever had. The sourdough toast was grilled, not popped from a toaster. The cortado coffee was excellent. Cafe Mark hosted our baby shower event and everything was fantastic from start to finish! They had a barista on site hand crafting beverages for guests, including a specialty drink menu designed just for our "A Very Hungry Caterpillar" theme. The space is beautiful and had plenty of space for our food set-up, gift tables, guests and balloon arch set-up. SUCH A CUTE CAFE!! Cafe Mark was decorated beautifully for Fall. We stopped by on a gross rainy day and this cafe offered a warm and cozy space. I love the seasonal flights they offer! I had the Death by Latte flight, Halloween inspired! They were pretty yummy, and they do offer iced or hot options. They had a variety of other beverages, pastries, and meals as well. I will say the staff was not particularly welcoming or friendly, rather standoffish/off-putting. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and our treats. Likely to return in the future. read more

Really nice coffee shops in downtown Cumberland MD. Clean and pleasant interior with lots of seating. I had lunch there and had a chicken salad melt with pasta salad. For me, it was way too much mayo on the pasta salad and nothing really in it but the bow tie pasta. The melt was decent but again too much mayo. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of great sounding menu items. Even though I found the meal I had to be 6/10, I'd still give it another try. read more

This is a delicious and lovely cafe located in Cumberland Maryland! It is a few minutes walk from the National Park (C&O biking lanes) and Maryland historic train rides. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the eatery is well organized and designed. I ordered the gingerbread latte with oat milk, it was a little watered down with the milk, but otherwise yummy. Great atmosphere in meandering historical building. At least 3 seating areas to choose from. The cashier this morning was clearly in a bad mood but other people delightful. I had the egg white pita which was delicious. My husband had an omelette that sadly was cold inside which made everything cold within a minute. Drip coffee was awful. Tea was good. My family were driving to Washington DC for a shopping trip and decided to have a sit down breakfast in Cumberland. Both my wife and daughter had a coffee there previously and had enjoyed the experience. I found the atmosphere comfortable and relaxing, perfect for breakfast. The menu was varied, and the staff very knowledgeable about the choices. We had a special coffee cake with lemon and berries, an amazing breakfast sandwich with bagel, cheese, egg, and sausage. Pancakes with eggs and bacon. Everything came exceptionally prepared, very tasty, the service was expedient and courteous. An excellent breakfast with excellent coffee enjoyed by all. On the recommendation of a local, I stopped by Cafe Mark for a coffee before I took a walk down Baltimore Street. My coffee (a cappuccino) was good, and the service was great. The interior is charming and larger than a lot of coffee shops I visit nowadays. With its location (just at the corner of Mechanic Street and Baltimore Street), I can definitely see why this spot is popular - with locals and with tourists. "Weird TIP scenario" you tip at first when you buy your meal. Then you self serve your water and seat, but i like to tip after service is rendered... My boyfriend and I have been to cafe Mari quite a few times, and have always had a lovely experience. Today we went, and the girl that took our order had the nastiest attitude and was just downright rude. Not to mention she kept wiping her nose with her hand while making drinks and taking orders. I took a weekend trip to Cumberland with my boyfriend and we hit up this cafe twice because of how good their breakfast options were. I really enjoyed their scramble bowl and seasonal drinks (specifically the chai apple cider). Service is a bit slow to be honest. I feel they need more people on the line to cook. It took almost 30 minutes for our order to come out. However our waitresses during both experiences have always been very attentive. A wonderful breakfast. Only disappointment was the limited Sunday menu, so I had to change my order on the fly. Sat upstairs to people watch and it was clear to see why a limited menu worked well. My omelette was cooked perfectly and the veggies in my omelette were perfect, not soggy. The marble rye was flavorful, toasted great. I loved watching my tea being made. This was an uneven experience at a place with plenty of potential. I tried the coffee and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were fine. The location is outstanding in the heart of downtown. I loved the setup and decor. The staff seemed friendly. Coffee was fine (I'm not snobby about it so I can't really describe it beyond that). I turned around from the counter to dress it up with cream and sugar, but they only had cheap takeout single-serve creamers in a big steel bowl that looked like a kitchen tool (not even decorative). I had to peel them open and pour them in one at a time. The activity clashed with the rest of the experience. I think they could improve their flow at the counter. This place is so cute, and the coffee is strong and good! I had a latte and sampled my husband's iced americano. I got there in the early afternoon so it wasn't pastry time but it looked like they had muffins and bagels. COVID things: staff all wore masks, and the patrons I encountered while I was there kept a safe social distance. The tables I saw seemed to be up so think inside dining/hanging out isn't kosher, which suited me just fine. The pedestrian street nearby was the perfect place to people watch. read more

What a lovely cafe in a beautiful historic town. It has two levels and the upstairs is very cozy with big country dining tables and sofas. The main level has a long counter where you put your order in after picking from the menu of breakfast and lunch items. They have muffins and a variety of flavored coffees. Bottom Line: Cute cafe serving coffee, tea, breakfast and lunch. We visited on a dreary rainy Saturday to pick up sandwiches for our ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. We called our order in about 25 minutes in advance. Downtown Cumberland seemed busy that day, it was raining and we didn't know where to park so that was no fun. Since it was Saturday and we were going to be quick we ultimately parked in a business' private lot - not ideal. Once inside Cafe Mark it was super cozy but we still had to wait in line about 10+ minutes to pay for our order which was two sandwiches with chips. After we left we realized that we didn't get our chips. I guess we were supposed to grab them off the rack but we didn't know that and it was communicated to us. Darn, I was really craving chips on that rainy Saturday but I didn't *need* them. Anyway, our sandwiches were good. My husband had the Turkey Tornado with turkey, swiss, avocado, lettuce, tomato and aioli. I had the Turkey Club with turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and oregano mayo. The sauces really make the sandwiches and I am so glad we took our own lunch on the train ride so we didn't have to scramble for a lunch option in Frostburg. Several of our fellow passengers were eyeing up our gourmet sandwiches asking where we got them. The employees were super friendly and the menu overall was very appealing. All of the customers seemed very content. Next time I'd be happy to try the Ham, Brie and Fig sandwich or the Breakfast Reuben. And next time I'll be smarter about parking and the chips! read more
