The service was with a nice smile and was very friendly. I will definitely go back for more sit down dinners but also will be ordering to take out as well because I loved the food. The husband and I visited Café Lazio for a late breakfast last weekend and immediately fell in love…read morewith the place. What a relief it is to finally have a great independent coffee shop/café so close to home. This delightful new addition to the South Shore opened about a year ago and has already become one of our favourites. Being a small family-run business, we were welcomed with so much warmth and hospitality that we did not want to leave. Inside it is warm and cozy with mismatched tables and chairs, coffee-shop blackboards and charming decor, great for getting some work done or catching up with family and friends. We ordered a chicken panini, mocha and cappuccino. The chicken panini was one of the best I have ever had - a generous size full of flavour and fresh ingredients, served alongside house potatoes - delicious! The owner himself prepares all the meals and from the big smile on his face, it is obvious to see he does so with so much love and passion. Being an Italian coffee shop, it is no doubt that the drinks were also spot-on - I just wish the cups were larger as for the price, they were a little on the small side. Seeing the rest of the menu and the talent of the owner & chef, we have already decided to return again for lunch/dinner. For fresh homemade food, lovely atmosphere and exceptional hospitality - Café Lazio is the place!

Best chai in the southwest, hands down!…read more Their vibe is elevated, but not in a pretentious way, which I appreciate. It's spacious, nice natural light, variety seating and great music selection and at a reasonable volume, compared to most places. Sometimes in a place like this, the bathroom doesn't match, but gratefully, it did and includes a baby changing station and the best picture I've seen in a washroom in a long time. Also, they invest in good hand soap. That's an easy thing to skimp on, but they thought of the details. The service is above average, in terms of at least smiling and being happy to take your order. Unfortunately, the bar is that low these days, but they're above it, which is a pleasant and unexpected surprise. There's a couple opportunities that can be reworked, but my main thing is accurate hours on sites where their business is listed. Nothing is worst than showing up at an establishment, thinking you have a couple hours, but they actually close in 30 minutes. Nonetheless, it's still my go to place to get some work done in the Southwest! P.S. They also serve food beyond pastries, but I haven't tried them yet. The chai is house made and haven't gotten past it to try the other options on the menu.

Beautifully designed, color scheme gives a calming effect. The owners are simply wonderful. The ambiance is lovely. Us at 9pm when the posted closing time is 10pm: "Is it still ok to order dinner?"…read more Waitress, smiling and seemingly unbothered: "Oh yes of course!" Us: "Oh excellent!" No. Not excellent. One of my biggest pet peaves in a restaurant is trying to close up shop, or going about closing shop, in front of your customers... Especially after I ask you if it's going to be an issue. Even worst when u provide sh*tty a$$ service because you're doing said closing operations. They made me so friggen mad I will never ever ever eat dinner here again. It's ice cream and that is IT from now on from this place. No, I did not want to feel I needed to wolf down my meal in 20 minutes or less. I did not want to pay over 50$ to be rushed through my meal. I certainly didn't want to leave that 15% tip to that inadequate green haired waitress either. I only did because I can't seem to bring myself to tip less than that, but GAWD DAMN sweetie u REALLY pissed me off. I WOULD have liked mayo with my sandwich if you had bothered to provide any form of service. I WOULD have asked for cheese for my nachos I ordered, 'cuz silly me thought that was the defining factor of nachos vs chips, but you never came back until our plates were empty. I WOULD have told you the chicken tastes a little funky and cheap (Dog? Cat?) but you didn't bother to give a fk. I SHOULD have told you as I was leaving I usually tip upwards of 20-33% when I get good to fabulous service. I SHOULD have told your bosses they lost a customer. I SHOULD have been upfront about how insulting it is to be closing your terrasse (literally pulling down all the flaps around us) 15 minutes before closing time while you still have customers on it. So I guess ultimately it's my own fault for letting you treat me so poorly. But I WON'T be making that mistake again. And now you have a lovely 2 star review to go with your, albeit 5 star ice cream, but 3 star food and 1 star service and pricing. You're welcome. To be clear about where I removed stars: - I remove 1 star for the terrible service - I remove 1 star for over pricing casse croute style eats - I remove 1 star for serving crappy quality chicken and ingredients at those prices Moral of the story: customer service is important. Otherwise I would make my own damn meal at home.

I noticed this place years ago but never stopped by until recently…read more They're the only place I know of to have Bilboquet ice cream, made with 100% natural ingredients (their vanilla hard ice actually has vanilla seeds in it). They also have regular soft serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream and sorbet. They serve American-style sandwiches, subs, burgers and pizza and Chinese-style soup. They've got a nice selection of poutines (their bacon poutine is their best one) and a nice dessert menu.. Enjoy a meal inside their restaurant or on their terrace across the street from the riverside.
