Just a few minutes walk from the Laurier station on the Orange line metro, we found this really cute cafe and although it's located on quite a busy street, just down the stairs basically beneath the street level, you'll be in this quaint, quiet retreat from the chaos that is just a few steps above you. The cafe is tiny and feels cramped; there were five people at most inside and I felt claustrophobic! The chalkboard menu lists their offerings including coffee, soups, and sandwiches. The meals are all prepared in the tiny kitchen space in the back of the store daily and so, everything is fresh. They were making a squash soup when I walked in to order my coffee, and the smell was enveloping! I felt like i was at a friend's house watching them prepare dinner; very homey. I placed my order at the nonexistent counter and waited for my tall latte. The coffee, served in a biodegradable cup, was good although a little light for me. The service was friendly and quick, then again I didn't order any food. If I lived nearby, I can see myself stopping in for a bite or coffee on the outdoor space (banquet facing the street) but would feel cramped otherwise.
