Amazing as usual! All of the staff are so wonderful and so nice. The food was great as usual, super fresh and came out quickly. The lamb special was really good and so was the penne vodka! Not pictured was the calamari and baked clams that we got as appetizers which were cooked to perfection! We ended the night with dessert which was equally as delicious! This place is a favorite on Staten Island for me and will definitely be back many more times. read more

I give stars based on the kind of restaurant they're trying to be. A hot dog stand can receive more stars but doesn't make it a better place. It makes it a quality hot dog stand. This place is trying to be an upscale restaurant. The caesar salad had no taste, I struggled through half. Now it sounds crazy but they had pizza on the menu. I wasn't going to order one until I saw Bar Pie. i haven't had a great bar pie since I moved to NJ from NY. I asked the server is it a real bar pie and he said absolutely. I then asked how large is it as bar pies are generally around 12". His response was 6 slices. Now it may be me , but when I ask how large a pie is and the response is the number of pieces it hits a nerve. My response was I can cut a 6" pie into 6 pieces or an 18" into 6 pieces. He made a motion with his hands of about 12". It was a small regular tasteless $19 pizza not a bar pies. My wife had some baked clams, they were ok and a stuffed artichoke, definitely nothing special. read more

I got the penne Luna, overall I liked the sauce a lot and the shrimp. I did not like the chicken breast stuffed with asparagus. I don't know if it was because we ordered takeout but it was soggy. EDIT: I initially left a two star review, but instead of addressing the feedback with professionalism, the owner chose to insult me over a simple typo (confusing asparagus with artichoke). To question a customer's credibility over a minor error is shocking to me. read more

My wife and I have been eating at Cafe Luna (Hylan) since our first date in 1990. The food and service is always great and we have never had a bad meal. The service is friendly and professional. The specials are fresh & innovated, using only the highest quality products. The bar menu is seasonal and the regular wine selection is always consistent. CAFE LUNA is our "Go To" restaurant. We are celebrating our New Years Eve dinner there tonight. read more

Alessandro is an amazing host. The food here is always delicious and well cooked. I highly recommend Cafe Luna to anyone.

Always the right choice when it comes to an Italian restaurant. Food and drinks are always on point, service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is the place to be. Family owned perfection for more than 3 decades and it always shows every visit. I'd give 10 stars if I could because the owner Alessandro is always there to provide a 5 star experience. read more

Perfect place for date night. My husband and I love the food and the hosts are so down to earth. Strongly recommend.

My good too place for weeknight dinner after hard day at work for me & the wife. We always enjoy the focaccia provided on table its fantastic. Service always wonderful, great wine list fair prices. The food is classi NY Italian & portions are HUGE. Nick Marino read more

We haven't been here in a while but glad we returned. The house sangria to start while we waited for another couple were very good and had a few more just because . For appetizers we had zucchini flowers and steamed calamari. The flowers were good just a bit too much breading . But the calamari were tasty with true marinara sauce to dip. Main course I had the seafood risotto. And wife had flounder oreganato. We enjoyed both and had some left over to take home as the servings are a good size. The waiter was great. The only thing about the night was the air conditioning wasn't set very high and we were a bit uncomfortable since it was very humid outside. Other than that we would come back again. Very good Italian food if your in the area. read more

You can find solid, reliably good Italian food here. We have been to Cafe Luna several times over the years but recently ordered takeout for the first time (rather than dining there.) Everything we ordered was packed up nicely and tasted great. Try the baked calamari. It may not sound exciting compared to the fried version but is covered with breadcrumbs before baking and is very tasty! They are currently doing outdoor dining with tents, indoor dining, and takeout during COVID. read more

The only negative was the price just a little to high I also would not compare to Rao's or il Mulino but I would say: Service was very good Presentation was very good Spacious and not cramped All dishes came out hot and were good. Cesear Salad was good but lacked anchovy taste Portions were large I would rank an 8.5 out of 10. read more

This place is absolutely DISGUSTING, The food had bugs in it and the manager made me feel bad for sending it back. This place should be shut down. The service sucks and overall a terrible restaurant. Save yourself and do NOT come here. Terrible dirty place. read more

Been going to cafe luna for over 30 years Sal & Vinny are the best. The service is amazing and the food was perfect! Panni's are endless.

My husband and I came here on a late Sunday night dinner. We order the margarita pizza and two homemade pasta dishes. The pizza was served on a hot stone. The crust was so flavorful and crispy. The pasta dishes were tasty too. Hands down. The best pizza and pasta dishes I have ever had. read more

Surprisingly nice for a strip mall restaurant. White tablecloths are a classy touch. We split some excellent appetizers and a pizza that satisfied us for lunch. Service was great and our server was patient with 4 seniors trying to make decisions. Bottom line, good food and service that won't break the bank. read more

Always, always amazing pizza. The pizza is made in a big oven and comes to your table on a hot stone. Everything here is freshly prepared. The chicken francese is so classic and tender. Fish dishes are great too. Love the specials, but definitely try the pizza!! read more

Cafe Luna - Freshly cut mushrooms - Italian Near Me - Staten Island, New York

What a disappointed from service to delivery of food. We started tonight with a drink order that came out close to our food and ran out of water and no refills despite request. I have a dairy allergy and ordered chicken cacciatore special with vegetable side. The waitress appeared a tuned to my allergy, which was appreciated. My son and husband were served meals and I was brought 3 dishes that weren't mine ( fish / chicken parm and a masala). My dish finally arrives : chicken in brown gravy ( not cacciatore) with mushrooms and mash potatoes. They swear it was my order and waitress tells me "I said no dairy"... disappointing I went home with no dinner or feeling that kitchen / staff care of patrons that have an allergy, they serve me dairy ... smh oh can I mention it was my birthday #yeah read more

You never get a bad meal at Cafe Luna. The pizza by far is the best Staten Island has to offer, served on a clay pot. They even honor BYW if that serves you, no pun intended. Angel D read more

Super consistent and delicious Italian food! I frequently order their cold octopus salad, as well as their fish salad. Both are always light and fresh! Their escarole and beans is very good (heavy with garlic, fyi) and their pasta fagioli is delicious! I think the top item here has to be the pizza. Well done crust, full of flavor and perfect size slices! They are on the smaller side so do not expect a regular sized pie. A little pricey for pizza, but the flavor always delivers. You can also order on DoorDash for pickup for delivery! read more

Very reasonable lunch special on Hylan Blvd! Coworkers ordered eggplant parm which came with a sautéed spinach on the side. I ordered a chicken frances which paired with spinach on the side as well. Portion for the eggplant parm looked huge and it tasted good but my chicken portion was smaller than another image I saw on yelp. It was nice that they had bread to start off. read more

My sister had my nieces communion here. The staff was very accommodating to children and adults. Food was delicious and they kept everything moving like clock work. I have to say they were quiet amazing. The ambiance is nice and great for a date night. read more

The reviews are confusing me. I used to dine here years ago and it was really good. I loved the pizza, the sauce was absolutely incredible and the bread was to die for. I am not sure what changed. The last time we are here not only was the pasta overcooked, the sauce was bitter, the bread seemed to be recycled and our server was very rude to us. We actually had eye rolls and huffs. Not acceptable and we won't be back. read more

Love this place!!!!! Been going here for some special occasions every so often when we get the chance. The staff always knows the family's and has us a table ready before we even walk in! The waiter we usually have ( if he's there) swings by and asks for our appetizers and already has them written down and confirms if that's what we want! Sometimes we'll change it up, but awesome to be recognized by the staff. Food is amazing and is right up anyones ally when it comes to fancy but not super pricey. The vibe you get from this place reminds me of those old style places from the 90s, just makes me feel at home in a way. Highly recommend. read more

The deserts and the food is delicious. They are very accommodating and the service is amazing. I definitely suggest the linguine nere or the risotto frutta di mare. I would suggest to tell your server however to go light on the salt. Once again, they are very accomodating people and will definitely Agree to do this for you. They've done it for me before. read more

Nowadays it's so hard to find a good and authentic Italian restaurant. Cafe Luna has exceeded my expectations. I have been to the 2 of their 3 locations and may I say the experience, staff, and food was the best. Last night I went to the Hylan location for my birthday and was lucky to have the owner, Alessandro Nuccio as my server. It was my birthday and just wanted something small, he was so kind and runs the place so well. He also is an exceptional bartender too!! I had the chicken rollatini in a masala sauce, which was one of the specials. The best rollatini I've ever had. Of course at the end of dinner the staff sang to me which was so sweet. They brought out their tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing, definitely my favorite one I've found. Overall, Cafe Luna has amazing service and excellent food. I highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice meal like Nonna would make. read more

Still the best Italian on the planet ! You cannot order and have a poor meal here. Rao's , Il Mulino are second rate against the Cafe! Why? Competition, and a dedicated constituency that demands high quality . There is nothing on the menu I would not recommend. Do not under any circumstance let this strip mall setting affect your decision to give this magnificent gem of Italian goodness deter you from popping in for a magnificent surprise . Eggplant rollatini app for $6. Veal marsala w/ spaghetti for $9. OMG! The eggplant has just the right amount of succulent sauce with small soft chunks of tomato and the lightly breaded eggplant was perfect along with just enough ricotta and mozzarella to keep me wanting more. The veal was pressed thin I thought it was going to dissolve in my mouth the spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente while the mushrooms did an amazing tongue dance and the sauce was divine. I could hardly wait to recommend this to my yelp friends. The only problem that I see is a need for more home made bread to soak up both the gravy's. Great service and I can't wait to come back. read more

Over rated and over priced. Came here with my husband primarily because we were gifted a gift card. We ordered off the specials menu because specials are supposed to be fresh and unique. The presentation of the entrees was better than the flavoring. He ordered pasta with lobster, shrimp and seafood. Complained that there was no flavor. Lobster dishes from Lobster House Joe's tasted better for half the price, according to him. Not even a hint of garlic. I ordered porterhouse steak. It was alright. The most memorable part of our meal was the wine and dessert. The creme brûlée is always on point. read more
