Brunch
Tiff E.

Like it's other locations, Cafe Landwer delivers good presentations! The dishes were fresh and delicious, also very nice on picture, service was alright, we didn't make reservations for a Monday Lunchtime, one of the servers told us to sign up for wait list, while another one took us right in as soon as he saw us LOL... But cute interior good lightings and brunch ambiance.

Mediterranean omelette

Went on a Sunday morning, they were very busy so the waiters were slow. The kebabs shakshuka was so so, meat was more of a strong flavour like lamb taste, the Mediterranean omelette was good. Breads are made fresh and delicious. Cappuccino was really nice and creamy. English breakfast tea was too light, stronger would be much better.

We came here on a whim around lunch time. It was a pretty large establishment when we walked inside, and it was packed. There was a tablet by the door so we just put our names on the wait list. We waited for a couple minutes before we got seated, so wait time wasn't too bad. I really liked the ambiance and design inside. Originally I wanted to get a tiramisu, but the waiter told me that they were already sold out. It was around 11:30 in the morning and they were already out of tiramisu? I was so disappointed, but I knew that I had to come back because I'm sure their tiramisu was that good. For drinks, we got a London Fog with oat milk and I got an Iced Latte with oat milk. Both drinks were good, the oat milk blended well with the espresso. It was rich yet creamy. I forgot what exactly my boyfriend ordered. But it had eggplant. I think it might've been the Sabbich Bowl. His entree was very good, it was flavorful and savory. Since I had my heart set on the tiramisu and something along those lines, I just ordered the Belgian Waffle. That was pretty good too, the waffle texture was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. All the components were great, I loved the sliced bananas and nutella with the waffle. There were so many different textures on this dessert plate but it came together so well. It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. Lastly, service was excellent. I was actually impressed. Though they were very busy and the staff were running around the place for a good couple minutes, we got seated quickly. Our server was awesome, he was helpful and funny. We were taken care of and had a pleasant experience. This was actually my last meal before heading to the airport, so I'm happy that my trip ended on a good note. I look forward to coming back again and trying other things on their menu, and the tiramisu!

Stopped by this cafe after walking around Toronto with some friends. They have a good deal in the afternoon where you can get any coffee and pastry for 7 dollars. The drinks and cocktails are all 7 dollars as well which was listed outside on a sign. My friends ordered coffee and pastries for 7 dollars and I got a croissant and red sangria. For the price this place was good and the service was decent. A lot of people were working or meeting up with people in this location.

Iced Matcha Latte

It's a perfect spot for your warm weekends! They have indoor sitting and outdoor sitting for you to enjoy! It's was a very hot day when i visited so i only ordered Iced Matcha Latte! I will definitely recommend to try this, it was amazing :) Service wise i will say they are good. I will say 7/10.

Cafe Landwer is always a reliable spot. The menu is extensive with lots of choices. Service was friendly and efficient, and the space has a nice café feel. Overall, it makes for a solid default option when you want a dependable meal in the area.

Came in at 10 on a Sunday and seated quickly but it's crowded. Halloumi Shakshouka was amazing. Service was quick and attentive with waiters and manager both checking.

I had searched for a nearby breakfast cafe in yelp and came across Cafe Landwer. I read through some of the feedback and thought I'd try it out myself. I ordered the Merguez Shashaka and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. I also ordered an OJ and Espresso. Team are friendly and service is great!

Aperol Spritz

Located at the corner of Front St and Scott St across from Berzcy Park, even though the address is Yonge St. It was late afternoon so not busy. We were immediately seated on the outdoor patio. A Mediterranean place. They have brunch which I hear is good, pastries, various drinks and coffees, pizza, burgers, pastas and Mediterranean options. Service was attentive and friendly. We had: Sharwarma sandwich: 4/5 - this was nicely prepared. The chicken was tender and you can taste all the various sauces and ingredients individually. Served with a basic salad which had fresh. Chicken skewer main: 3/5. The chicken in its own didn't have much flavour. You needed the sauce to help it along. The rice was flaky but nothing exceptional. Kofta skewer main: 2.5/5. The beef and lamb ground meat texture was a bit rough. Needed more seasoning. Like the chicken, it needed the sauce to improve it. Aperol spritz - 4/5. Nicely done. Serving sizes were reasonable. Reasonable prices.

Mediterranean Sea Bass with Mujaddara & Labneh

This Yonge & Front location is Cafe Landwer's newest location. The interior has a more retro diner look compared to the other locations, but still with the same bright and casual ambience. There are patio seatings outside in the summer, with good view of the park nearby. The menu is the same as in all other locations. Excellent food as usual - everything is delicious. They're most famous for their shakshouka, bread, and breakfast / brunch items, but other items on the menu are also equally good (fish, sabich bowl, falafels, etc.). There are lots of vegan, vegetarian, and plant-based options. Their vegan omelette (made of quinoa and chickpea flour) is one of my favourite items to get here. It comes as part of Farmer's Breakfast (if you ask to make it vegan), or it can be ordered as a stand-alone item. The sides are also really good - mujaddra (rice with lentils and spices), rice (with carrots, almonds, and caramelized onions), green vegetables (freshly cooked broccoli, green beans, and spinach), side salad, chopped salad, etc. Everything is fresh.

This place has been on my list ever since it opened. After all, the menu looked well rounded. I ordered the salmon fish. Unfortunately, it was overcooked - it was dry and chewy. Luckily, the server came by to ask how our dishes were, so I told her the situation. She was very apologetic and rectified the overcooked fish by replacing it with another that was moist and tender. I really appreciate the service given here and would go back to give them another chance.

Granola yoghurt

Visited this place for Saturday breakfast-we tried the granola yoghurt and omelette dish. All were delicious along with their coffee. Service was friendly and fast. The place gets busy and there was quite a line by the time we left (around mid-morning) so recommend getting in early to avoid a wait. Charming old-world ambiance. Vibe was fun and friendly.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Food: We had our office holiday dinner here and 15 people attended. We did a set menu which had 3 courses. The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

Some reviewers complained about the loudness, but, compared to many other downtown locations, Landwers was a medium level of noise, and we were able to converse. It was not excessively busy, but if you are set on eating here, then make a reservation. I finally tried the Sinia Kebab, and it was tremendously good! It was also huge, and I had to take half of it home with me. The focaccia bread is excellent, and serves as a sort of bowl for this deconstructed kebab. My husband had his usual Cobb Salad, which he thinks is particularly well done at Landwer's. Our other dining companion had schnitzel, which came with some angel hair pasta. He enjoyed it very much. Service is, as I said above, "relaxed". If you are planning to see a concert or show afterwards, then plan ample time to allow the relaxed service to unfold (a.k.a this is not fast food!!) We had a 6:00 reservation, and we were able to make our 7:30 concert time with about 10 minutes to spare. The University location is conveniently located near Thompson Hall, the subway, and Union Station (Via Rail and Go).

The open fish market adds to the experience, and the drink selection is solid. Parking isn't the easiest (expect nearby office garages) but if you're there for a weekday dinner, they offer complimentary valet at the St. Regis, which helps. Service 5/5 Top tier. Staff are polished, attentive, and actually know the menu. Recommendations were on point, and everything felt seamless without being overbearing. It's the details that make it stand out, the attention to detail and the care when serving and presenting the food. Food 4.5/5 Went with the lunch menu (great value with an appetizer and main). Quality is consistent with what you'd expect from Milos: fresh, simple, and done properly. They're also mindful of time; if you mention you're on a tight schedule, they can accommodate a one-hour lunch without making it feel rushed. Had the salmon along with salmon tartare and the octopus. Good variety for the prix fixe lunch menu too. So far the best salmon tartare I've had in city.

If you're pressed for time, just let them know when you order - they'll plan to have you out within the hour, or they pick up the tab. I, on the other hand, was in no rush. The staff read the room, paced the meal accordingly, and let us linger comfortably. With four starters and eight mains to choose from (three with supplements), there's plenty of variety, though seafood clearly takes centre stage. I leaned fully into the sea and wasn't disappointed. The salmon tartare was surprisingly, with large chunks of fresh salmon tossed with herbs and finely minced red pepper, giving the dish a bright, meaty freshness. In the dead of winter, that first bite genuinely felt like sunshine - apologies for getting philosophical, but it really hit home. While crostini were scarce, every table receives a basket of freshly grilled bread and a wasteful pour of olive oil. Carb lovers don't worry, there's plenty to scoop up that tartare. The whole dorade royal grilled might sound exotic, but you've likely seen it elsewhere under its more familiar name: sea bream. At Milos, it arrives deboned and finished simply with olive oil, herbs, and capers. That said, if you're squeamish about bones, proceed with caution as the deboning accuracy seems to vary. My plate had only a couple stragglers, while my dining companion's fish had several lingering behind. The dish is simple, clean, and ideal for lunch, so it satisfies without tipping you into post-meal drowsiness. The steamed vegetables were overcooked, though that may appeal to those who prefer their cruciferous vegetables soft rather than crunchy. For anyone who wants to channel a bit of Don Draper energy without returning to work tipsy, Milos' 3oz lunch pours are a great idea. And if you decide to lean in just a little more, they can easily be doubled into a proper glass.

It was probably about 15 minutes between the time I ordered and when I got the food, so this is clearly not the place to go if you're in a rush. But I'd say the food was worth the wait. That cheese crust is the obvious star of the show here, while the fresh, soft bread is also quite delicious. The other components are tasty too, but the patty itself is the weakest link.
