Second time coming here for the views and a savory lunch snack. I shared the sandwich & salad with my husband. Refreshing salad and lemonade. Sandwich was savory , perfectly crispy on the outside cheesy on the inside. The chai latte was sweet creamy and delicious. Always a must when visiting Big Sur. Don't come hungry bc with the hassle of parking and the long wait at nepenthe I've seen entitled customers showing up in not their best moments. I feel like it's so helpful to know this ahead of time.

Worth it for the views alone! The setting is beautiful and makes for a great dining experience. Service was quick and efficient, which we appreciated. The food is on the pricier side, and while we enjoyed the French toast and breakfast burrito, neither dish particularly stood out. Still, the scenery and atmosphere make it a spot worth visiting.

A cafe with a gorgeous outdoor patio and fresh food, perched on the side of the ocean. We had a banana protein shake ($8.25), Cobb Salad ($25), and Ham Panini ($21.50, perfectly crunchy and toasted). The food is fresh (and expensive, but hey you're paying for the views). I was devastated we didn't get there in time for their breakfast, but it's okay. There is another restaurant (Nepenthe) and a gift shop (The Phoenix) on the upper and lower levels. Staff are nice :)

Honestly mainly here for the views and the restaurant upstairs was packed, the menu was similar enough (besides the alcohol). Views were absolutely gorgeous and overlooks Big Sur. You order at the front and then grab a seat, they will call your name and you just raise your hands to to claim it. I got the Classic Reuben sandwhich, thought it tasted great, especially after a long hike, but a bit pricey for what it is. There was a good amount of pastrami and the cheese was nicely melted. It also comes with a basic spring mix salad with a bit of dressing on it.

Stopped for lunch on our way back up the coast after driving along thru Big Sur. The guy taking orders was friendly and threw in an extra pastry since they were closing soon. Had the cheddar and fontina panini and the caprese baguette (both came with fresh salads). Enjoyed the decent food with a great view of the ocean and coastline. The meal was definitely on the pricier side, but that is a given since there are not many options along this route.

Views can't be beat and amazing breakfast burrito! Great pit stop even though it can get pretty busy and may be hard to snag a table

Simply amazing!! First time to Big Sur and went here after a friend recommended it. It comes with an amazing view of the ocean and the surrounding area and it has plenty of outdoor seating. I didn't have high expectations of the breakfast burrito tbh, I just wanted something to eat. But I was completely surprised by how tasteful, fresh and substantial the burrito was! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!

Dont try this place confused with the much busier dining spot to the right and upstairs. Wait time was about 40 minutes on a Tuesday. We went to the left and downstairs instead and there was no wait time. In fact the majority of the tables were open. Granted their food options are limited as it is a Cafe. But the no wait so that we could get back on our road trip was invaluable. We sat with a beautiful view of the coast. The view is quite majestic. You can move the umbrellas around to give your table shade. Its a first come first sit type place. We ordered their black forest ham panini as well as a chai latte and a hot apple cider. Drinks and food came out quickly. The drinks tasted great. Very hot. It warmed up the soul in this cold February day. They black forst ham panini was really good. Crunchy bread. Good amount of ham. I love the melted cheese inside. It was crunchy, and gooey and tasty all at the same time. The views are just otherworldly. And the food and drinks were really good too. Pricing wasent bad considering its a tourist location. I would definitely recommend stopping by this place to experience the views and try the food as you go on your road trip up the coast.

Love the view. Service was fast and employees were very friendly. So nice to have this stop on our way back to Orange County. Next time we will spend more time here and probably will try their food from the restaurant upstairs as well

View makes it worth it! So incredibly beautiful! Feels like the most amazing breath of fresh air. I had the cobb salad and it was just okay, but did the job. Friends and family had wine and beer...it looked very refreshing. If you are looking for a beautiful picture...Cafe Kevah is the place to go!

oh god the reuben. hands down amazing. the crust on the toast was perfect, meat seasoned perfectly, and a balanced amount of cheese. highly recommend we stopped by on our drive along hwy 1. try to come early for better parking and a chance at seating. Even on sunny days they have umbrellas and a nice breeze going. the staff is very accommodating. Cafe Kevah is so underrated.

Kevah has some fantastic panoramic views of the coast, plenty of seating on their broad patio. You order at the hut and go sit then wait for your food. Refillable coffee and free cold water, stirrers, cream & sugar.. If you're hungry from a day of dragging your boots up a mountain, their breakfast burrito will soothe that hunger. It's substantial and solid. The caprese sandwich was on an adorable little baguette cut in half but being perfectly honest requires a bit of jaw strength. Not quite Hercules but maybe a little Jean-Claude Van Damme. Salad on the side tossed in moderate dressing. Scrambled eggs cooked to fluff and little bunches of grapes for those of us who never buys them from the store, these were a pleasant fleshy surprise. Fine coffee with fantastic people watching. Keep in mind the sun will be in your eyes in the morning, so bring your shades or sit smart.

Came twice in the same day. Food was decent, slightly overpriced but view is absolutely breathtaking and calming. Makes ok food at slightly higher price worth it. The steambun was brilliant though.

The selection is more limited than Big Sur Bakery but includes a solid choice of coffee drinks and pastries before offering some hot kitchen items like a breakfast sandwich starting at 9:30. The vibes of the building and the indoor and outdoor seating space are top notch with manicured lawns, rustic wood tables and open spaces. The Village only Parking is plentiful and its adjacent to the convenient General Store for supplies and the River Inn for lodging. We ordered a sampling of their $9 lattes (Chai and Matcha) and coffee (espresso tonic) as well as several pastries. The highlight were the candy cap (mushroom) muffins and chocolate chip cookie although I also enjoyed the baguette sandwich. Credit cards are accepted and there's plentiful seating inside and outdoor. Judging by the crowds, The Village is a welcome fancier (albeit pricier) option for those who miss Big Sur Bakery.

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION -- IT MAY SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS…read more If you are considering booking an ocean-view room at Post Ranch Inn between May, June, July, or August, I strongly encourage you to do extensive research about Big Sur's seasonal coastal fog before spending your money. Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.
