We decided to go with pizza and chose IL Pizzaiolo based on walking distance from our hotel. We came at 630 pm when the restaurant first opened and were the first patron that night. We got the chicken Caesar salad and the Diavolina (spicy salami) pizza. Firstly, on the table is a basket of bread and condiments. I recalled later on past review Yelp that if you eat it, there will be an additional charge to your bill. They don't say anything about that additional charge so be mindful of it. The charge you will see on your bill is Pao Cecete (bread) 2 euro and couvert pizzeria (condiment of butter, Olive oil and olives (2.8 euro) When we finished the sides, the waitress took our small plates and brought our salad and pizza. The pizza is not sliced at all and we had to ask the waitress for 2 plates to share the pizza and salad. I guess for some, the salad is their main meal. Chicken salad Caesar - 14.45 euro - delicious and had bits of bacon along with egg, Parmesan slices and croutons. Chicken breast was large pieces. 5 stars The Diavolina- got our craving for a light dish and something that had a light thin crust , light tomato sauce and tasty soft crust that hit the spot. 5 stars Yes, the price is a bit high but worth eating if you are craving for something like pizza.

I have mixed feelings about writing this review. I really want to love this place (their star pizza…read moreis a fave) but also, when you leave a place feeling a bit bamboozled by the experience, it makes you question returning. I do find that the "forced appetizer" concept is a bit over the top here. Often times the tables have bread, olives, jam/spreads sitting at the table on arrival. If you aren't familiar with "the way", most people eat them and are blind sided when they are on your bill. BUT this place doesn't stop there. They often bring three types appetizers to the table, which if you eat them, it is likely to raise your bill by 10/15 dollars (as a guess). I always turn them down. BUT just know. That bread sitting on the table has probably been breathed on by another table that turned it away. They are taken to and from the table often and I am unsure if that app is sanitary to eat at that point. Maybe? But be warned. Don't touch the apps or send them away as the arrive. You will be billed. Service is often, not the friendliest. We have gotten one lovely gentleman from Brazil once as a server and he was fab! But recently we got this woman that was less than friendly. Calling people "hey lady" when needing to get attention, and not patient. Maybe just say "excuse me" next time as some feedback. To be fair, it might be a direct language translation (Menina) which is acceptable in Portuguese. Even if so, the place had basically zero people the most recent visit except us and I felt patience and kindness could have been extended a little more. FYI: they won't give you tap water (even though legally they have to when requested) so expect to buy your water, maybe if you are a local Português things are different. I am not Portuguese but I am local and this is the first place that has ever refused me a cup of water. "It tastes bad" was the reason. As a side note: the first time we came here we arrived at 11:58. They opened at 12:00 and they told us we had to wait outside until 12...in the bitter cold and torrential rainfall. I understand not being "open" but I don't think there would have harm in allowing us the stand in the entry way for less than 2 minutes until the proverbial open gates flung open. Overall, you likely will enjoy your meal. But just be aware of the funky little quirks about this place. Oh ya, and paying and splitting bills can get funky with them too so just bring cash if you have more than yourself and you are splitting the bill.... I say this so you don't have to navigate it. There is a lot of good things about this place and I hope next time, if I visit again, things will feel different. It might have been a bad few days for them. We ordered the bombest bottle of wine, Chaminé, to share and it was heaven. We then ordered a big pizza and a salad and it was the perfect amount of food after a day of exploring Porto and not eating much. We came in to Presto Pizza right around dinner time and the restaurant was rather full, but we managed to sit down within five minutes. The service was very attentive and good. Our server was actually the one to suggest the bottle of Chaminé, so he knows his wine. The pizza we ordered was full of veggies and it was nice and warm when served. It tasted fresh. The salad also tasted fresh. The ambiance of this place is good. It has some good romantic mood lighting. The restaurant is not too large so if you have a big group this may not be the place for it, but four people and under will fit just fine and have a good time. I highly suggest this little gem.

Nice vibes...but beware…read more I have dined at Grigio during the multiple times I have visited Porto. I typically order the same thing and it usually ranges from decent to very good. However, I forgot that they are tricky. Upon being seated, they will bring a small basket of bread (three half slices of toast and a couple oversized thin crackers). They call this "Couvert". They will stand there with the bread and say something like "I have some bread for you" or "Would you like some bread?" They do not mention the charge of €3.50, but it is on the menu to order. But typically, you have yet to look at the menu to see it on there by the time it is presented to you. So who knows how many people have been fooled by this. Instead of letting people order a starter if they want, they are brought this bread by default. During my most recent visit, I noticed a couple who picked up a tip left on their table because they were unaware of the charge when they got their final bill. I will most likely never dine there again. But let this be a warning to those visiting Porto who decide to dine there. The pizza is good, but there is better in the area. My review is heavily weighted towards a 3 due to how they conduct their business.

We…read morehad just been in Portugal for a couple of days and hadn't really had any amazing culinary experiences yet. This restaurant was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel, by the water. In the evenings that walk by the water is pretty busy - we lucked out and there was one empty table for 2 people at this restaurant. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was very warm and friendly. We ordered two dishes - the squid ink risotto which had octopus and the Bacalhau pasta with tomatoes in a kind of saucey broth and some flambeed prawns. The prawns came first and the sauce on it was subtle, very nice. We shared a bottle of dry white wine that was lovely and light - it went down a little too easily. When the mains came, I tried the squid ink pasta first - it was beautiful and buttery. I wouldn't normally order octopus, but that's what the dish came with and it was the top recommend from our friend's friend. The octopus was cooked decently, but I've definitely had it more tender. And then I tried the bacalhau pasta.... The pasta was made in house, the broth that it came with along with the richness of the tomatoes and the saltiness of the bacalhau was just heavenly. I'm going to be thinking about that dish for a long time - it was unique and just absolutely unforgettable and delicious. During our dinner they had to turn quite a few groups away because they were too busy. Definitely worth coming to for that pasta dish!

We had a green wine that paired perfectly with our meal. All 4 of us loved our meal. My brother also ordered the codfish pasta, my dad and SIL ordered the codfish with cornbread breading and they loved that dish as well. They do operate on a cash-only model, which is a big negative for me, they direct people to use a nearby ATM. I usually refuse to pay cash, but after making an effort to find this place and spending some time, I decided to bite the bullet. It was unfortunate that they were cash only as this meant I spent less than I would have done if they had card payments - Come on, who doesn't take cards in 2024? The interior is small and fairly cramped, and the door did seem to lock, it didn't feel too welcoming with people struggling to get inside while I was eating my food. The menu was impressive and extensive, and most of it was priced reasonably, I ended up going for a sandwich which had ham, German sausage and cheese - The value was certainly really good, however. I also ordered some fries however, I never received them. I was not charged for them, so it is likely my waiter wasn't paying attention when taking my order. I noticed how the menu also mentioned a charge for cutlery - which seemed bizarre, and I'd love some clarification on this - surely they can't charge you for something to eat your food within a sit-down cafe? I found my sandwich to be quite dry. While the meats were decent, though not exceptional in quality, they would just slide off the bread, which was strange considering how dry the sandwich itself was. 3* - The prices are affordable, and the gluten-free options are extensive. However, the overall food quality is just okay. Combined with issues like the atmosphere inside the cafe and the fact that it's cash-only, I wouldn't be in a hurry to return if I visit Porto again. That said, I wouldn't be against giving it another try either.
