Buffalo Chicken and Sicilian slice
Andrei L.

I live pretty close by Cafe Gino's in Westbury and have been here 2-3 times for pizza over the past year. The place is pretty well lit and spacious, with a bunch of tables for casual eating and more on the other side for table service. It's definitely more modern looking and clean feeling than Alfredo's down the road. However, I have to say that the pizza I've had there has been pretty poor by typical Long Island standards. I came in recently with a friend and got a buffalo chicken slice and Sicilian slice. Along with a soda, the meal came out to around $10 (sorry, can't remember the exact amount). The pizza was pretty bad though. Maybe it was because we came in the late evening on a Sunday night, but even then I'd expect a lot better. If you look at my picture, you can see that my buffalo chicken slice doesn't have many pieces of chicken on it at all. A good slice should be covered with chicken in my book. It thus wasn't very filling as well. The Sicilian slice tasted a bit stale and also wasn't very thick. So I was still hungry after I finished. Thus I was disappointed by my visit to Cafe Gino's. For what you get, it is expensive and the quality is lacking. It isn't an utter horror show to warrant a one star rating, but it could be much, much better.

Garlic Knots - yes, they have them here . . . but as good as they look, they lack that garlic punch we all crave in a good knot . . .

Stopped by this place literally minutes after going to Toskana Pizzeria, which is just a few blocks south. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots Contrary to the other reviews for this place, they do have garlic knots here. Perhaps garlic sticks are served if you dine in. At any rate the dough is somewhat light, but so is the garlic flavor. Just like at Toskano, they need to step up their garlic game, on a menu item that has garlic in its name! Penne ala Vodka Slice I was unable to get a cup of vodka sauce, as I was told it was made to order, but they did have almost a whole pie of penne ala vodka left in the case. What struck me first was how crispy the crust was - that crisp was done proper, as was the cheese atop the penne. However, the vodka sauce itself was in somewhat short supply. A bit more would have made for a better taste experience. From what I could tell, the vodka sauce itself was a little bit above ok. It had some flavor, but in my opinion it could have a bit more. If it had the flavor to match the crispiness of the crust, it would have been an amazing, wining combination.

Went to Gino's for dinner and couldn't be more satisfied with the speedy service and delicious food! The penne alla vodka was perfect

Margherita slice

Just as good as the last time I was here(10+ years ago when I lived in the area) they had recently opened a bigger pizzeria, and I have to say...10+ years later and the place still looks brand new. The margherita alive was very good, and my son enjoyed the pepperoni. Would be my go to pizza place if I still lived in the area.

Thin crust... was ok

We love the pizza here! It's always fresh and delicious. The only downside is that they don't deliver but it's worth the trip.

We were seated immediately after we walked in, at a table by the window looking out onto Old Country Road. The service, as always, was excellent. Our waitress was pleasant, and attentive. A big basket of warm pizza bread arrived almost immediately while we were waiting for our food. It was so good that by the time our entrées arrived, I was already almost full! I had the linguine seafood, while Hubby ordered tonight's chicken special. Both dishes were super tasty, flavorful, and satisfying--exactly what we were looking for after a long day. But what really made tonight's visit even more special was getting a chance to speak briefly with Juan, the manager, on our way out. I've known of Juan for at least 20 plus years, ever since I started coming here, and tonight I learned that he has actually been working at Café Baci for 38 years. That says a lot about both his dedication and this restaurant. I've eaten at restaurants all over the country, especially on both the East Coast and West Coast, as well as in many places throughout Canada. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to meet and interact with quite a few restaurant managers, and I have to say, Juan is truly one of the best I've come across. He is the whole package--compassionate, personable, genuinely caring, and incredibly professional. You can tell that hospitality isn't simply a job to him; he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in creating a great experience. Even our brief conversation left a wonderful impression on me. After all these years, Café Baci remains a reliable place for wonderful food, and people like Juan are what make a restaurant feel truly special. We always leave happy and satisfied, and tonight was no exception.

MIXED BAG THIS | CAFÉ BACI September 22, 2026…read more Italian food was on the menu today, and Café Baci delivered when it came to the FOOD! We started with an antipasto salad loaded with soft and hard cheeses, roasted zucchini, roasted eggplant, roasted red peppers, prosciutto, and a ham-and-cheese roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. For my entrée, I had the Rigatoni Bolognese , and my sister ordered the Lasagna. Both dishes were very good! I paired mine with a glass of Riesling, while my sister had a Whiskey Sour--which I completely forgot to take a picture of! Now, let's talk customer service. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. He provided good customer service. The bathroom was clean; however, it is a unisex bathroom with both a urinal and a toilet. Paris had the same setup. That being said, I'm not taking anything away from the food at Café Baci. The food was DELICIOUS, and I would return. MIXED BAG THIS VERDICT: NICE REVIEW Great Italian food, enjoyable meal, and definitely worth another visit.

Entering the restaurant, you get a feel of Italy with all the Italian artworks depicting scenes of Italy. The menu encompasses a broad range of delicacies including a great assortment of appetizers, numerous panini's, hero's, pizza, salads burgers, etc, but the stars of our dining experience were the food entrees. We began our dining experience munching on a scrumptious basket of garlic bread. I've found, over my many years of dining, that restaurants that serve a great bread basket always follow it up with great food, and this was Mauro. After reviewing a litany of appetizer items, we chose absolutely delicious artichokes oreganata. We followed the appetizer with an order of luscious eggplant parmigiana along with perfectly cooked al dente rigatoni. We also ordered gnocchi with a sublime pomodoro sauce. The sauce was not something typically seen, in as much it contained a nice quantity of onions. For dessert we had a debate between chocolate cake or a cannoli, keeping in mind that the restaurant is owned by a great bakery. Our waitress, Samantha (Sam) who was outstanding throughout, said it's a tossup. We finally agreed on the chocolate cake. When the dessert arrived, to our delight, there was an order of light and very tasty chocolate cake, and a creamy & crispy freshly filled cannoli, compliments of Samantha. In summary, we had an excellent meal coupled with outstanding service what more can you ask for in a restaurant? If possible, I recommend weekday dining. I was told it can busier on the weekend, and I would think noisy. Mangia!

We've always loved his cooking and have since followed him to Monroe's while still frequenting Tesoro's. We started our dinner with an Appetizer of Rice Balls followed by an entree of Salmon in Orange sauce for my partner, and Shrimp & Clam Fra Diavolo over Linguine for myself. As we started to order our choices they also informed us they had initiated a new Price Fixe menu in case we decided to change. We stuck with our original choices but decided after perusing the Price Fixe menu we have to come back very shortly as it offers a great value. What's different about Monroe's is that it's offered 7 days a week except holidays, versus other restaurants that tend to limit the days or hours you can order off a Price fixe menu. It s a good deal at $39.95 for 4-Courses starting with a variety of Appetizers, followed by a choice of two salads, multiple Entrée choices including Pastas, various Chicken dishes, Skirt Steak, Port Chop or Pork Medallions, and Seafood including Red Snapper, Salmon, or Sole. Finishing up with a choice of several desserts to choose from. A complimentary glass of Wine or Beer to also accompany your meal. When we walked in, it felt more like a busy pizzeria with a dining area than the trendy spot we were expecting. The place was packed, and we ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table. Once seated, we noticed right away that the menu didn't match what we had seen online. In the videos, every pasta dish came with burrata, but here it was an extra charge. The bread bowl itself was also a $7 add-on, which pushed the $25 pasta dishes to nearly $40 each -- a price that simply doesn't make sense for what you get. Staff was friendly, but the busboys seemed completely untrained, and service overall was slow. We did receive our minestrone soup quickly, but it was just okay. The soup's kidney beans and chickpeas were noticeably undercooked. When the pasta arrived, the disappointment continued. The burrata, which we paid extra for, was cold and hard rather than creamy. Even the waitress seemed surprised when we pointed it out. We also noticed that the regular pasta dishes (served in normal bowls) were much larger portions than the bread-bowl pastas -- despite the bread bowls costing more. At the end of the meal, the reality became clear: the bread-bowl trend is more gimmick than substance. With two pasta dishes and one soup totaling around $100, the value just isn't there. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. Don't be fooled by what you see on social media -- the experience simply doesn't live up to the hype.

Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to and everyone felt the same. Pricey…read morebut worth every penny.

It pains me to have to write this review but I feel this needs to be addressed…read more I'll start by saying the food was excellent. We had the fried calamari, the Pork Chops Mike, the Chicken Mario (x2), the Veal Mario and the Short ribs, Meatball and sausage special. We also has 4 glasses of wine, seltzer and sodas. We were quite satisfied with our meals and I recommend the food...until... My Uncle finished before the rest of us. A waiter immediately reached over and took his plate. I had moved my plate for my Aunt and husband to taste my dish. The waiter immediately asked if I was finished and took my plate to wrap up. I know, I should have stopped this but I was in shock. Three of us were still eating as they took the bread, cheese and red pepper from the table without asking if we still wanted it. A lot of times people use the bread to sop up the rest of the sauce. This is, after all, an Italian restaurant. One at a time they just started clearing the table as we were eating, reaching over us, even getting between the arms while my son was eating. This is RUDE!!! Filomena's is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. At this point, being seated, ordering drinks, appetizers, drinks and dinner...we were there less than an hour and fifteen minutes! Clearing plates one by one as people finish makes others feel rushed or self conscious, not exactly hospitable. When we were all finished eating, our waiter, Mike, asked if we wanted dessert. We said, yes...he gave us the menu and as we were getting ready to order there was commotion at the table next to us. Seems, the restaurant told them they had to leave the table. These people had just finished eating!!! When we saw the way the other guests were treated and how we were being rushed, we decided to go somewhere else for dessert. Filomena's is RUDE, DISCOURTEOUS and can't follow basic restaurant etiquette. They are not interested in a customer, they rush you and make you feel unwelcome and unwanted. Our bill was already over $300, we were not going to give Filomena any more of our money, only to be rushed out before we could swallow our food. As for the bill, we were charged $29.00 for the fried calamari which is listed on the menu for $17.00. It came with sauce, which they took away, again without asking. This was not complimentary, we paid for this. Filomena's has good food, but honestly Filomena's has no manners. You will NOT be made to feel like family, you truly are just a dollar sign. The ambiance was rushed and shuttle like. Next,next,next...From the moment we sat down, it felt as though the staff's primary goal was to turn the table over as quickly as possible rather than host a hospitable dining experience, clearing the plates felt aggressive, making the evening feel more like a fast-moving conveyor belt than a proper sit-down dinner. While I understand restaurants have table turns to manage, a meal should still feel like a hospitality experience, not a hurried transaction.
