    Buffalo Chicken and Sicilian slice
    Andrei L.

I live pretty close by Cafe Gino's in Westbury and have been here 2-3 times for pizza over the past year. The place is pretty well lit and spacious, with a bunch of tables for casual eating and more on the other side for table service. It's definitely more modern looking and clean feeling than Alfredo's down the road. However, I have to say that the pizza I've had there has been pretty poor by typical Long Island standards. I came in recently with a friend and got a buffalo chicken slice and Sicilian slice. Along with a soda, the meal came out to around $10 (sorry, can't remember the exact amount). The pizza was pretty bad though. Maybe it was because we came in the late evening on a Sunday night, but even then I'd expect a lot better. If you look at my picture, you can see that my buffalo chicken slice doesn't have many pieces of chicken on it at all. A good slice should be covered with chicken in my book. It thus wasn't very filling as well. The Sicilian slice tasted a bit stale and also wasn't very thick. So I was still hungry after I finished. Thus I was disappointed by my visit to Cafe Gino's. For what you get, it is expensive and the quality is lacking. It isn't an utter horror show to warrant a one star rating, but it could be much, much better.

Garlic Knots - yes, they have them here . . . but as good as they look, they lack that garlic punch we all crave in a good knot . . .

Stopped by this place literally minutes after going to Toskana Pizzeria, which is just a few blocks south. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots Contrary to the other reviews for this place, they do have garlic knots here. Perhaps garlic sticks are served if you dine in. At any rate the dough is somewhat light, but so is the garlic flavor. Just like at Toskano, they need to step up their garlic game, on a menu item that has garlic in its name! Penne ala Vodka Slice I was unable to get a cup of vodka sauce, as I was told it was made to order, but they did have almost a whole pie of penne ala vodka left in the case. What struck me first was how crispy the crust was - that crisp was done proper, as was the cheese atop the penne. However, the vodka sauce itself was in somewhat short supply. A bit more would have made for a better taste experience. From what I could tell, the vodka sauce itself was a little bit above ok. It had some flavor, but in my opinion it could have a bit more. If it had the flavor to match the crispiness of the crust, it would have been an amazing, wining combination.

Went to Gino's for dinner and couldn't be more satisfied with the speedy service and delicious food! The penne alla vodka was perfect

Just as good as the last time I was here(10+ years ago when I lived in the area) they had recently opened a bigger pizzeria, and I have to say...10+ years later and the place still looks brand new. The margherita alive was very good, and my son enjoyed the pepperoni. Would be my go to pizza place if I still lived in the area.

    Thin crust... was ok

The parking situation was not too bad on early evening during the weekday, but I could totally see it get out of hand on the weekends, so plan accordingly. We were sat right away and the lovely server dropped a basket of bread while we peered through the menu. The free bread is quite good. We were all starving, so the cheesy chewy bread was great to munch on. I am also much more forgiving about a bit of wait for food if there is free bread being offered. It was also nice because we were seated right by the kitchen window, so it was like getting a dinner and a show. We got the Saporite, which reminded me of a Costco chicken bake with its creamy innards punctuated by grilled chicken. This is my brothers favorite, and I could see why. We also had the spaghetti seafood, which was so richly flavored with the seafood. I'm not sure I ever had Italian pasta so full of that umami seafood flavor. Truly wow. The ravioli verde was something we got to add something not-tomato based & it was an excellent choice. The sauce was verdant and creamy. The ravioli filling didn't feel like straight ricotta but I liked whatever they had done to it! The chicken parm was also a solid choice, good breading on hefty cutlets of chicken and a nice helping of charred cheese on top. We liked every single dish, and the portions were more than enough to feed all of us and leave leftover for the next day. I was especially touched by the professionalism of the young servers during what was becoming an increasingly crowded dinner service. We got extra bread, waters filled, and to go boxes promptly. The hype was surprisingly real. I guess I should not be surprised that a place that's been around since my childhood has withstood the test of time because it was good. Will revisit soon for lunch service.

Updated review long overdue…read more Last three times I visited... i had planned on updating this review; however, always forgot until now. Food 2/5 very overpriced for not so great quality. Portions are fairly still large if the food tastes bad... it takes a lot of effort in eating it. Service 2/5 workers are young i guess if that is a pro... but lacks common basics... too busy talking amongst each other and talking negatively about the job. Ambiance hasn't changed for years. They offer a cash discount. I am leaving this review for a self reminder tbh... everytime I visit i think to myself why did I do this to myself.

Entering the restaurant, you get a feel of Italy with all the Italian artworks depicting scenes of Italy. The menu encompasses a broad range of delicacies including a great assortment of appetizers, numerous panini's, hero's, pizza, salads burgers, etc, but the stars of our dining experience were the food entrees. We began our dining experience munching on a scrumptious basket of garlic bread. I've found, over my many years of dining, that restaurants that serve a great bread basket always follow it up with great food, and this was Mauro. After reviewing a litany of appetizer items, we chose absolutely delicious artichokes oreganata. We followed the appetizer with an order of luscious eggplant parmigiana along with perfectly cooked al dente rigatoni. We also ordered gnocchi with a sublime pomodoro sauce. The sauce was not something typically seen, in as much it contained a nice quantity of onions. For dessert we had a debate between chocolate cake or a cannoli, keeping in mind that the restaurant is owned by a great bakery. Our waitress, Samantha (Sam) who was outstanding throughout, said it's a tossup. We finally agreed on the chocolate cake. When the dessert arrived, to our delight, there was an order of light and very tasty chocolate cake, and a creamy & crispy freshly filled cannoli, compliments of Samantha. In summary, we had an excellent meal coupled with outstanding service what more can you ask for in a restaurant? If possible, I recommend weekday dining. I was told it can busier on the weekend, and I would think noisy. Mangia!

Happy to say that Casa di Fratelli offers a stellar dining experience with delicious food, gracious service and fair pricing. Cocktails were refreshing and potent. Shared a dozen baked clams to start, the tender bivalves topped with bread crumbs resting in a pool of lemony butter, just excellent. My veal marsala with chestnuts entree was so yum. The tender pounded meat was topped with a sauce that tickled my tongue with a symphony of flavors; tangy sundried tomatoes, sweet chestnuts and rich mushroom gravy melded into a divine elixir. Veggies, often a mushy afterthought at other establishments, were well sauteed and crisp. My partner's lobster ravioli was stuffed to the gills with sweet meat and topped with a rich creamy sauce. He polished it off quietly and quickly, always a good sign. Portions were ample, enough for leftovers devoured at lunch the next day. Service was friendly without being overbearing. Plenty of parking in the back. Discount price fixe dinner menu offered Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00. Reservations recommended.
