This was such a horrible experience beginning to end. For context, I was honoring the anniversary of my mother's passing, so I was feeling pretty low and figured that this new experience would be nice. Sadly the second we walk into the store it was over. We asked the person by the door who worked there where the restaurant was and he straight up said "I don't know." Which is wild to me - maybe he was new. But as someone who works in retail/customer service if I don't know something I will find the answer for my clients. They didn't care to help further so we ventured into the store to find the restaurant. There's more than one so I didn't want to get lost or go to the wrong place. We are wondering around the first floor and no one is asking if we need help or anything. Thankfully I figured it out but when we arrived we were greeted by a very thin man who seemed to be questioning if we indeed had a reservation. Even after we sat down, being asked what name the reservation was under about three separate times. I wouldn't have thought twice about that but we were the ONLY people in the restaurant and I think a total of 3 other parties joined half way through our reservation. Our waitress was very cold. Seemed like she was having a rough morning or series of bad mornings. We weren't asked anything except what we wanted. We didn't see much of her after we got tea and the snack tower, our tea was never refilled. The food was so bad, very bland, small and for 75 dollars a person at a famous luxury department store that's basically a landmark - I expected more. Overpriced, bad service. You're paying for the name that's on the outside of the building. Go to Alice's Tea Cup on the upper west side instead. Good prices, GREAT food and fantastic service. read more
