Panaeng (Nutty Butter Version), Andaman Hunter, Khao Soi (Chiang Mai Noodle)
    Kelly D.

I have not heard of this place ever but I went here with a couple friends not knowing what to expect since I rarely find good thai food in New Orleans, but this place was really good. As pictured, we got the Panaeng (Nutty Butter Version), Andaman Hunter, and Khao Soi (Chiang Mai Noodle), all very good with pretty big portions. The Panaeng had a good peanut taste and paired well with the rice, the catfish on the Andaman Hunter was perfectly cooked and the Khao Soi was super yummy! My one thing to nit pick is that the chicken in the Khao Soi is an entire chicken breast that is unsliced, which kinda makes it look weird and you have to cut it yourself but that is fine. The store itself is pretty small, so be careful if you have a big party, I think the biggest table I saw can sit 5-6 people, but I would say no more than that. Service was decent, our orders were taken and the server brought us what we asked for, but nothing extraordinary. I would definitely go back again though, this one hits the spot for good thai food!

Love this local gem! Our new go to Thai place. The squid salad is so flavorful. Can't go wrong with the classics like pad Thai, red curry, pad woon Sen. They have great lunch specials and fresh young coconuts!

Always a hit and never disappoints. Would recommend for anyone wanting comfort food. Thai tea ratio of milk to tea is perfect. Equator fried rice has the perfect about of kick to it. Definitely coming back!

Paid a visit to Cafe Equator this week with my mom. It's a quaint, peaceful dining room with a very long menu, as is normal for most Thai restaurants. I'm a curry girl and will get the Mussaman curry every time I visit here. My mom got the yellow curry. We both had shrimp as a protein. Very hearty and flavorful. We also had a side of roti to sop up the curry. We were pleased that the lunch special was priced very well and the dish came with a small serving of edamame and a little egg roll. We weren't expecting those little additions but what a lovely surprise. Our server was a sweet lady, who was on top of making sure we had everything in a timely manner. Never had a bad experience here.

I had dinner with three friends here to catch up. We were happy that I chose Cafe Equator. The parking lot is surprisingly small. However, I found a few street parking spots nearby. Their menu offers a variety of choices. For most entrees, you can choose a type of protein from chicken, tofu, or beef. They also mark the level of spiciness for each dish - light, medium, or very. I had Thai basil with chicken as my protein choice. It didn't disappoint. The ingredients were fresh. The entire dish tasted a bit sweet, which I liked. I will come back to Cafe Equator. I'm excited to try one of their authentic street food versions.

The best Thai food ever. We have to eat here every time we visit friends. For apps, get the beef paratha and flags. Both are phenomenal. Try the dipping sauce if you like cucumbers. Our friends always get the pad Thai and drunken noodles. Both are perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband gets the most divine green curry. I tried the basil fried rice with pork. We all loved it. Service is great. Do not sleep on this place.

I came based on the overall reviews and it was close to me. The worse Thai food I have ever had, hands down. Hot green tea tasteless. Didn't put enough tea leaves. Ordered fresh spring rolls and something came out that I've never seen before. Sent back for some real spring rolls but they were bland and tasteless and didn't have a peanut sauce. Pad Thai lunch special. It was too sweet. Had to ask for lime and chilli peppers, she brought lemon. They do give a few edamame, fried rice and a tiny fried spring roll. Overall, horrible. Left with a bad aftertaste! And the service needs improvement as well. She kept sweeping around me while I'm eating. Gave me wrong info on spring rolls. Disappointed to spend the money and leave in satisfied. Boo hiss.

I stopped in before work for dinner. I ordered the Shrimp Equator. It was seasoned well, veggies were real tender, and I had the very thin noodles. I was helped immediately after walking in. The restaurant is very small. I've ordered on delivery app before and enjoyed the food. I decided to stop in since I was in the area.

This was the best Thai food I've ever eaten. Parking lot was very small. We parked at Shake shack next door. The service was great & the atmosphere was inviting. I highly recommend the Pad Thai, the homemade Roti, the Summer roll & the blanket shrimp. I will be back.

Coming from Seattle, where there is a lot of Asian food especially Thai food. It's hard to find a very good Thai restaurant in the south. This place is good still different from what I'm used to, the noodles were still not as flat as I usually eat when I'm in Seattle these noodles are on the chewy side. The sauce reminded me more of a chow fun. The chicken pieces were OK. He was nothing special, but overall friendly service large menu with lots of vegetarian options.

Their moo ping wat and Siloam pork are outstanding. Their stir fry's are outstanding as well, particular the basil, black garlic, and mushroom. Food comes out VERY fast. The inside was a bit small and narrow, but the decorum still looked clean, neat, and gave off traditional Thailand vibes. Service was very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions about the menu. I ordered their "Kao Moo Dang" dish which consists of TukTuk Style BBQ Red Pork, Crispy Pork Belly, Boiled egg with red sesame topping sauce. Serve with rice, green onions, cilantro, cucumber, and dark soy dipping sauce with Jalapeño ($19.99 not including tax). The dish was very flavorful and tasty! I can tell the dish was authentically made as some Thai places kind of "Americanify" some of their dishes. I do wish the portion was a bit bigger since the dish was a bit pricy. As for my drink, I got their "Thai Tea Palmer" which is Thai Tea infused with fresh lemon juice, crystal konjac pearls ($7.99 not including tax). Now this is a drink that I would get again! I didn't think Thai tea and lemon juice would perfectly mix together, but I was proven wrong! My friend and cousin shared their Chicken Pad Zee Ew ($17.99) They said their dishes were good. For dessert, we got their Thai Tea Ice Cream and Coconut Ice Cream ($9.99 each not including tax). Now this was worth the price! The sizing of it was really big and the ice cream had a lot of flavor to it. Texture was stretchy but in a good way. This is a pretty good Thai place to dine in at, as it is considered a "hole in a wall." The only downside for me is how small and cramped it is inside and how small and limited the parking is outside. I also wished the sizing of the entire dishes were bigger for the price, but taste wise everything was perfect for me! I would consider trying it out if I was in the area and craving Thai food!

The restaurant sets off cute date or special event night vibes with its trendy, inviting atmosphere. I love how the bar and main dining area are separated- you can either dine at the tables or go next door to hang out for drinks. We stopped by for a late lunch and were greeted warmly by our sweet waitress Mikayla. She was very helpful and patient with any questions we had with items on the menu. Service was stellar A+++ !!! Now onto the incredible FOOD: Bo Ne - filet mignon steak cubes & eggs (10/10): When an entree comes out sizzling & the aroma wakes you up- you know it has to be AMAZINGLY FLAVORFUL & FANTASTIC! Spread the butter & pate on the toasted bread, then use it to soak up all the INCREDIBLE flavor explosion from the sizzling steak & eggs!!! *VOILA chef's kiss* (side note: I grew up in Houston & had Bo Ne fairly regularly & I honestly think Ba Chi elevates this dish to another realm!!!) Curry clams & fries (10/10): I was worried I wouldn't like it because I wanted mussels, which were unavailable. To my surprise, this dish was another great hit !!! The yellow curry flavors were unique - a bit of heat & spice but not overwhelming. Next time, I would ask for the fries to be served on the side so that they stay crispy! We really wanted to slurp down a gallon of the curry- it really was THAT good! Pro tip: get a side of vermicelli noodles (or rice), mix it with the leftover curry & proceed to gobble it all up if you have room left in your tummy! Spicy lemongrass chicken wings (8/10): These were good-sized wings that packed a little punch with the spice! We enjoyed the spicy lemongrass flavor of the crispy wings (be aware that not everyone has a palate for lemongrass- they have other flavors available for those less adventurous eaters). DRINK: Dragon Slay-Her: what a gorgeous & beautiful drink - the dragon fruit margarita was a specialty cocktail I've never had before and I LOVED IT !!! (10/10) Their espresso martini with ube foam is another popular cocktail & I look forward to trying it on my next visit! TL; DR: If you're wanting to FIRE UP and add some PIZAZZ & all that jazz to your fabulous foodie life, then make lunch/dinner/drink plans for Ba Chi! You'll have the best dining experience there with quality food and top notch service! We LOVEDDD & enjoyed our dining experience today!
