Glazed donut
Aileen F.

From its name alone, I didn't think that Cafe Du Soleil would sell donuts too. Well it does and it's another place I've added to my go-to donut shops. As usual, I got the glazed and sugar raised. Top marks for texture and taste. The dough was soft and fluffy. The taste was good; it wasn't too sweet. The woman behind the counter was friendly so no complaints. Cafe du Soleil also offers drinks and other food items if you don't want a donut. Donuts prices are similar to others (give or take a few cents). I'd say this place is a 4.5 but bumping to 5.

Delicious! Quick and easy. The staff is also very nice. I got the breakfast croissant, breakfast bagel, sprinkle donut, glazed donut, apple juice, and Vietnamese coffee. There's a couple of tables inside if you want to enjoy your treat right away.

I make better espresso at home.

This place has the best blueberry donuts. The service is friendly and efficient. This is our go to place for morning treats.

A lot of coffeehouses are becoming more "sterile" and less inviting - like all the Starbucks that pop up in the area - Local Grind is the exact opposite! The storefront faces Los Alamitos Blvd - but you park in the back - and can enter from the back as well. The cafe space has a little gift shop to the side, plenty of open seating throughout - tables aren't bunch up close to each other like in other cafes I've been to. Service was prompt and friendly. I told the cheerful clerk it was my first time - but wanted something either iced or blended because of the heatwave. While I didn't catch his name - he asked several insightful questions before suggesting to me either their Funky Monkey or Mocha Jolt - both blended drinks. I opted for the Mocha Jolt and requested "less sweet" and he was able to make some adjustments to accommodate the drink not turning into a liquid candy bar. There's a display case with yummy-looking pastries - but I was already full from lunch nearby. Free and fast wifi, tons of seating, but the big, picture windows (one of which I sat right next to) provided perfect viewing of people walking by, and cars driving by - right alongside busy Los Alamitos Blvd. Restroom is clean and located in the back near the rear entrance by the parking lot. If the parking lot is ever packed - you can park along the street and walk - its mostly a commercial/industrial area on the coffee shop side. Overall, a new favorite spot to grab a cup of coffee variation, and get some work done the next time I'm in the area!

This coffee & food spot always delivers the best food, service and atmosphere!…read more I typically build a breakfast sandwich, get an iced coffee, and my daughter orders a croissant. My sandwich is always delicious and fresh. All of the bread options are fresh- even their gluten free options specifically the muffin! Coffee- incredible. Refreshing flavors too. My daughter's croissant, always buttery and smooth when we ask for slightly toasted. The service is also very welcoming - every single time. Kind, helpful people. Highly recommend this place! Affordable too.

This cafe knows their core drinks are winners and doesn't rely on full-menu revamps every season to keep customers coming back. As you can see, I am a repeat customer of their Matcha on matcha, but each of the other drinks have been delicious as well. The Orange tonic is on the sweeter side, but you can still taste the bitterness from the coffee and super fizzy tonic water. They put the freshest puree in the strawberry matcha with a natural-tasting sweetness. The goth latte is a must try that you can't find anywhere else. Arc both sells and uses Rocky's matcha in their drinks; a matcha which tastes nutty and roasty. Despite the batch mixing, the matcha is never clumpy or lacking in flavor. The inside is super minimal, yet approachable. While customers constantly rotate through the small space, there is never a long wait and I usually find a seat. The parking lot is small and can get tight during busy hours. Overall, Arc is a great spot for a consistently delicious dose of caffeine.

The Rocky's Matcha I know and like is usually more nutty, while the matcha here leaned pretty grassy. It was smooth, but I personally prefer a nuttier matcha. I also didn't think the cream added much to the drink. Seating: Limited seating inside. Parking: The plaza parking lot is pretty small, but we were able to find a spot easily. Going around 9:30 am probably helped. The Matcha Einspanner was okay for me and not something I'd personally go out of my way for, but if you prefer a grassier matcha, this might be more your taste.

I hadn't been inside since I was in my 20's, long before the remodel. It's beautiful and the deli expansion is phenomenal. I remember spending a special birthday in the garden room when I was a teenager, maybe 13? It's still there, but just been remodeled and leveled up to match the rest of the upgrades. I ordered pickles immediately, that's a no brainer. I also knew that I wanted a sandwich, but there are so many yummy sandwiches on their menu, it was really difficult to choose. I almost got the Randee's Double Pleasure because I love both corned beef and pastrami, but wanted more than just meat on bread. So, I got The Special, a pastrami with coleslaw and swiss on rye bread. Wow, was this a good choice!! It was stacked with meat, just enough cheese and coleslaw to make the sandwich juicy and delicious. I saved half to eat later, and didn't finish it last night. I opened up the leftover box this morning, and the bread was a bit soggy and hard at the same time. So I got out the two pieces of rye I saved from the table bread, and made a new sandwich to eat for breakfast. No regrets! Macaroni salad is my favorite and this one has pickles in it, bell peppers and celery from what I can tell. I know that seems sacrilegious when the potato salad is RIGHT THERE, but I have been craving it since my favorite local deli shut down a few months ago. I chuckled at carrot raisin salad being an option, something my family ate a lot in the 80s. I think we ate it here once and then replicated it at home for years and years. I lucked out and got my friend's side of potato salad to eat later, score!! We stopped at the bakery before leaving. I got an eclair. I can't remember the last time I had an eclair, but it was yummy. I thought I got a pic of it before my phone died, but apparently not. I could have taken all day to decide what to get in here, there are so many yummy options in their bakery section. The crispy chocolate chip cookies are always a hit though. I wanted danishes, but reminded myself I was going to the gym this morning so skipped it! I ate half the eclair last night, and ate the other half at the movies today. I remember the carrot cake here being amazing, and next time I come I think I will have to get it. The have so many loaves of bread to choose from, carrot, zucchini, pumpkin, banana. I'm glad it's not down the street because I would be in trouble. Our waitress was lovely, and accommodating. She came just at the right time when I was putting my leftover half of my sandwich in the box and didn't have anywhere to set it down. She was attentive without interrupting often, and was just generally very approachable and funny. Offered me another tea before we left, but I passed since I did not want that much caffeine at 5pm. When I posted on my socials that I was here, I had said it's always a good idea to go to Katella Deli. I was pleased that several people replied and agreed. Another friend that moved up north wants to go with me next time she comes to visit. So cheers to Katella Deli for still being as good as I remember.

We arrived on a Saturday at about 5:30 p.m. with a party of seven and were quoted a 20-minute wait…read more We chose to wait on the patio, which was pleasant and comfortable. More than 40 minutes later, we were still waiting. Throughout that time, all communication was initiated by us. A few in our party separately went inside to ask for updates. During one of those check-ins, I asked whether we could get some water. The hostess responded that there was water on the patio. When I explained that the water station was empty, she eventually came out and refilled it, then returned a few minutes later with cups. She never said a word to us. After nearly an hour, we asked to speak with a manager. He repeated what the hostess had already told us: they were waiting for a particular table to clear, and there was no limit on how long diners could remain seated. I then brought over the sign pictured in this review, which states that during peak hours the restaurant reserves the right to impose a two-hour time limit at tables. The manager responded that the policy applied only during their busiest times. Given that it was a Saturday evening and we had already waited nearly an hour, that explanation was difficult to reconcile with what we were experiencing. A more senior manager ultimately seated us and was courteous and attentive, which we appreciated. What remained unclear, however, was why we had been waiting for one specific table when other seating arrangements appeared capable of accommodating a party of seven. Several large round booths seemed like workable alternatives. The food itself was unremarkable. The theme of the evening was that every concern seemed to be met with an explanation rather than a solution. During dinner, the restaurant's lights were dimmed for the evening, but the fixture next to our table began strobing. It became uncomfortable enough that we asked whether it could be adjusted, only to be told it was on a timer and could not be changed. To their credit, this deli has been in business since 1964, which is an impressive achievement. Vegetarians should also know that the menu appears to offer only a few vegetarian options. Overall, what stood out was not the wait itself. It was the lack of communication, the unwillingness to explore apparent alternatives, and the recurring sense that no one was taking ownership of the customer experience.
