Okay, win, win, win. I've been wanting to stop by this coffee house for a while, but haven't had…read morethe chance to stop by and check it out because the normal business hours have this place typically close early by 2 PM; however, under a new owner I was informed that they close by 5 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The only reason my husband and I discovered this place opened tonight, Wednesday, was because we had gone to Heroes to eat, and went for an evening stroll. Upon approaching this store, we noticed the bright flashing "Open" sign, and he and I looked at each other, and we are like getting our laptops and heading in. I'm glad we came here on a Wednesday night, and all stars were aligned. The barista was a sweet girl, very accommodating and she made the best hot, dirty chai latte I've had. It wasn't too strong but just right. I already had my fill of coffee for the day, so maybe next time I will try a coffee here.

Old Drum coffeehouse is located at the very start of Holden street, a cozy coffee shop with the…read moreprofessional grace of any establishment but the innate charm of a hole-in-the-wall. I've been eyeing this place ever since arriving in Warrensburg, Missouri. Walking past it every day during the cold weather weeks, which caused this lovely place to close temporarily, due to the lack of traffic. Now, it is back open, and tending to the locals who come by and set up shop with books and laptops to read and do some work. Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile by Maggie, their barista for the day. She was very patient and attentive as I made small talk with her, stalling as I decided what to order. I asked what the specials were, as their is a chalkboard on the counter that reads "Barista Favorites", a list of specialty custom drinks made by each individual barista. Hers was the "cinnamon toast crunch latte" consisting of their espresso beans from Colombia, brown sugar syrup, and another secret ingredient I'll have to inquire for the next time I come. It was perfectly foamed and delicious to the last drop. She even popped over to ask how I liked it, hence the 'charm of a hole-in-the-wall'. I see why this place is so loved, and definitely plan to come back again. The food is popular here as well, but I haven't tried it. They have a selection of breakfast sandwiches that are made with a panini machine. Be sure to come before 1pm, because they shut it down for closing around then. If you're a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a shop to visit.

Unfortunately, over the past 18 mos or so, my family has noted that the food quality has gone downhill from the days when Katie Scully ran the place. Overcooked meat-especially the burgers. I have always recommended Heroes for the burgers, but bot my son and I have each experienced this on our last 3 visits. Loaded cheese fries and plain fries were excellent yesterday, but the Unknown Heroes tasted weird, as if the recipe was changed, and not in a good way. My husband and I have regularly used Heroes several times per year, and we almost always get 1 or 2 liters of the concoction to share with friends or, like yesterday, our grown-up kids. My kids are home from school and requested Heroes for the food and great family memories. Unfortunately they, too were disappointed with the food.My husband and I will be back in the next couple of weeks for a work function. We are really hoping for a better experience.

Yelp to the rescue. What a place, down in the old part of town, old old building, in great condition, Menu was complicated, lots of choices and if I had time I would have tried them all. Patty Melt, french fries, onion rings. Wife had a mushroom swiss burger. Concierge was so helpful with the "deals " and seated us with all the info we needed. Looking forward to next year's volleyball camp.

Located in a safe part of town, IHOP is ready to serve up your favorite treats all day long! I…read morehaven't had IHOP in years but I've been craving hash browns so me and my kids decided to stop by for lunch. I was in town for 5 days and noticed there's always some cars in the parking lot, this is a good sign. Walking in we were slow to be served as the greeter was out smoking. No big deal as she was a nice lady. Also note the restaurant is extremely clean. We've all been to IHOP, you know what you're going to get and the general quality of the product. That said my oldest daughter got the sirloin tips and eggs. She let me have a bite and the sirloin was tough and full of gristle. I can't even recall the flavor as my jaw hurt. That said she reassured me her bites were good and "it's what I always get." My other daughter got the pancake stack and while eating all of my other daughter's onion. She ate just one of 3 three pancakes. I must admit, pancakes go south quick and while tasty, they have a quick expiration. As for my lunch I got two over easy eggs with hashbrowns, bacon and a waffle. I gave the bacon to my youngest as I don't really care for it (yes some of us actually don't care for bacon) and she destroyed it. While I love hashbrowns, IHOPs were horrible. The square was overcooked and lacked the crispiness of individually shredded potatoes; you know like that southern competitor of theirs? Anyways, they were dry and so I gave a third to my youngest. Are you starting to see why she only ate one pancake yet? The waffle was extremely good. Crispy, able to absorb the butter and syrup in quadrants thereby staying crispier, longer. This is why I get waffles over pancakes, the longevity and also because I'm a comedian and love Mitch Hedberg and his line "waffles are just pancakes with syrup traps!" Finally, as seen in the photos, the eggs were perfectly over easy. This IHOP I suspect is no better or worse than any other. Most chains have their products down to a science so the difference is their employees and their heart. I submit the chewy low grade meat would be offered every single IHOP and their competitors so I'm weighing that as average. Overall, it was an ok effort but let's be honest if you go to IHOP for anything other than eggs, waffles or pancakes, buyer be warned.
