Okay, win, win, win. I've been wanting to stop by this coffee house for a while, but haven't had the chance to stop by and check it out because the normal business hours have this place typically close early by 2 PM; however, under a new owner I was informed that they close by 5 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The only reason my husband and I discovered this place opened tonight, Wednesday, was because we had gone to Heroes to eat, and went for an evening stroll. Upon approaching this store, we noticed the bright flashing "Open" sign, and he and I looked at each other, and we are like getting our laptops and heading in. I'm glad we came here on a Wednesday night, and all stars were aligned. The barista was a sweet girl, very accommodating and she made the best hot, dirty chai latte I've had. It wasn't too strong but just right. I already had my fill of coffee for the day, so maybe next time I will try a coffee here. read more

Old Drum coffeehouse is located at the very start of Holden street, a cozy coffee shop with the professional grace of any establishment but the innate charm of a hole-in-the-wall. I've been eyeing this place ever since arriving in Warrensburg, Missouri. Walking past it every day during the cold weather weeks, which caused this lovely place to close temporarily, due to the lack of traffic. Now, it is back open, and tending to the locals who come by and set up shop with books and laptops to read and do some work. Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile by Maggie, their barista for the day. She was very patient and attentive as I made small talk with her, stalling as I decided what to order. I asked what the specials were, as their is a chalkboard on the counter that reads "Barista Favorites", a list of specialty custom drinks made by each individual barista. Hers was the "cinnamon toast crunch latte" consisting of their espresso beans from Colombia, brown sugar syrup, and another secret ingredient I'll have to inquire for the next time I come. It was perfectly foamed and delicious to the last drop. She even popped over to ask how I liked it, hence the 'charm of a hole-in-the-wall'. I see why this place is so loved, and definitely plan to come back again. The food is popular here as well, but I haven't tried it. They have a selection of breakfast sandwiches that are made with a panini machine. Be sure to come before 1pm, because they shut it down for closing around then. If you're a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a shop to visit. read more

Old Drum Coffeehouse is easy to find, it's diagonally across the street from the Old Drum dog statue on the courthouse lawn. Perfectly named since dogs and coffee are man's best friends - at least in my book. A pleasant experience and a fantastic Nitro Cold brew. I usually need to go back and ask for a touch of cream to cut the bitterness but not this time. Cold and smooth and got me back on the highway heading east after a brief respite and re-charge. Nice folks behind the counter and comfortable environment. They are using roasted beans from Twelve Gate in Sweet Springs, MO. read more

Old Drum Coffeehouse & Eatery was such a pleasant surprise in downtown Warrensburg! I cannot recommend this coffeehouse enough, whether you're visiting or a local. My group and I ordered an iced chai latte and cortado. When my group mate asked if they served cortados, the barista said no, but she then asked if they should and if she would be able to make it. My group mate explained the drink and the barista was eager to try to make it for her. We later learned the barista helping us is the new owner of the coffeehouse. She explained that when customers come in and ask about drinks she's unfamiliar with, she either asks how to make it or does the research later. She ended up making the drink and my group mate loved it. This was such above and beyond service. It's not common that coffeehouse baristas take this extra step. The coffeehouse is very spacious and well kept. The bathroom was clean too. We didn't try any of their pastries, but they looked delicious! This is truly a one-of-a-kind business! I'll be visiting again when back in Warrensburg. read more

My friend and I had a good visit here! The girl that was working was really sweet and conversational. Their seasonal drinks were really good! We ended up ordering a maple latte and peach cobbler latte with oat milk and they were both great! The space is actually pretty big and the front area gets lots of lighting. There's two tables right up front by the window that make great work stations with all of the cute plants. I am not close to the Warrensburg are but when we are back over that way, we'll definitely be checking it out again! read more

I am giving this place a 3 based on not having anything there. I got there it looked great, smelled great and the young lady behind the counter could not have been more welcoming. The issue was they had no cream. I must admit I don't really know how that can occur at a coffee house but things happen. They had various milks as an alternative but I really like cream in my coffee and that is what I wanted. I will give it another chance and hope the coffee is as good as everything else. read more

I am an out of towner and first time visitor to Warrensburg who had a business meeting in town today. I wanted to visit the downtown campus area and grab a cup of coffee and partake of some free wifi to do some laptop work I needed to do and emails. I sat and visited with Beth the owner as she served up a medium sized cup of heaven to me. I was so impressed to learn that this is her coffee shop she has built from the ground up after having experienced one of those fork in the road life path decisions she faced in life having been a certified rock star High School Spanish teacher in a nearby town. As a former small business owner myself, I take my freaking hat off to anyone with the courage and passion to follow a dream and launch out on their own in order to fill one's inner passion tank back up, recharge the batteries, and do something awesome in life! The positive energy and passion that Beth shared with me during our conversation left me feeling as invigorated as 10 cups of the delicious Latte with cream flower on top! I plan to eat the all organic, farm fresh, home baked goods on my next trip to town. Go and meet Beth and her staff! Sit and drink and chill and enjoy the cool industrial, hip, surroundings and soak in the eclectic and old farm house feel of this place. The kolaches are to die for! And the quiche, energy bars, and vegan cookie. And the coffee! I love to study here, and it's a great place to meet friends or just enjoy some alone time. As far as local coffee shops go, this one doesn't get much better in Warrensburg. Beth has really grown this business into something with staying power. She and her staff serve up fantastic pastries (I recommend the pumpkin spice muffins later in the year) and the coffee drink quality is better than any in town. Very few places get this right, but Old Drum will make your tail wag--which could also be attributed to the caffeine. If you hit downtown Warrensburg, stop here first. read more

Old drum is fine. It could be a bit more exciting, with more music and chatter but the atmosphere works out okay. The worst part is the hours! A coffee shop in Warrensburg really needs to stay late for the students. Most students have class until 5 or so, which would only give them an hour to be at their shop. If they were open late a night two or three days a week (or Sundays) I think they would get a LOT more business. Also, Sundays are students study days, and it is really unfortunate they cannot go to Old Drum then. They really need to realize that if they had better hours then they could have more service instead of competing with Java Junction and Blackadder. They do have open mic nights which are fun and really great cookies! read more

My wife and I go here at least 2 times a week. They use The Roasterie beans so you know it's going to be good and fresh. Everything from the latte to the iced hot chocolate is delicious. I come to Old Drum every Wednesday and I've never had a bad experience. The staff is always super friendly, the coffee is to die for, and the treats (especially the flour-less chocolate cookies) are heavenly. Old Drum has an intimate and cozy atmosphere that makes it the perfect place for studying or just catching up with a pal. This is a nice little coffeehouse with a friendly staff. The baked goods are reasonable and tasty. Unfortunately their coffee comes from The Roasterie in Kansas City. I found the service at Old Drum to be average, no smile no small talk no matter how regular of a customer you are. The two ladies that run it mostly seem tired or irritated. One of the best coffeehouses in all of America. Tons of coffee choices and fresh baked pastries. When I say fresh, I mean, you can see the oven that they are baking in, and often you will be given fresh ones right out of the oven.
