Came here last night with my friends for the first time. I was a little nervous, because I didn't think I would enjoy an absinthe bar, but I was actually pleasantly surprised! The decor is spooky af, but I loved it. There are skulls lining the ceilings, and my drink came in a champagne flute that had a bony "death" hand draping the glass. Talk about creepy lol. The drinks were on point. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, and I appreciated his honest recommendations! I really wish I could purchase one of the flutes, I could so see myself drinking just about anything from water to my pre workout in that glass!

Drinks 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Price 3/5 Location 4/5 Staff 5/5 Wait 5/5 We stumbled into this place after their sister bar had a 2.5 hour wait and ended up staying here instead. The gothic atmosphere is the first thing you will notice with the candles and obscure projector being the only light in the entire place which lights up lavishly decorated chairs and ceilings. While it lends itself poorly to taking photos, it works well for its gothic feel. Many places go half way with their decor and it looks tacky but that cannot be said here. The drinks themselves were great! They specialize in absinthe drinks and, while that has never been our pallet, we enjoyed it a lot. I'm fact, we started with just a tequila drink and we're not going to get an absinthe drink but the bartender was so nice he gave us a taste of some on the house to change our mind. Speaking of which, the bartender was the best part of the place which is saying a lot. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us a tone of New York recommendations. The only thing that I would not recommend is the prices. This is pretty on par for New York, and for the quality of the drinks it is still worth it , but expect to pay around 20+ per drink. Overall I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area and absinthe is down your ally.

I came here in a party of 5 on a Friday night at ~9 PM. Might've been their opening weekend?? Ambiance: From the beginning, it's quite clear that the place is themed - spooky, creepy, gothic, dark. The door is this large mouth with a tongue sticking out and the actual bar itself is decorated in creepy gargoyles, fitting music, and haunted-ish vibes. It's very dark inside and not well-suited for larger groups. I'd say 5-6 should be a maximum, rather than a recommendation. I PERSONALLY am not a fan of this environment cause it's creepy lol. Secondly, there wasn't AC or something because it was sweltering hot inside... Drinks: Their specialties are absinthe and champagne. The absinthe is a cool idea but not my vibe. The champagne came in these sick glasses that had a bony hand gripping it. Super cool! The absinthe dry pours looked pretty cool but did not try. Service: Everyone was super nice and friendly. We wanted to move tables because a cool-looking table opened up a few minutes after we got there and they were so nice about it! Impression: This place is not for everyone. Could be a fun time during halloween or if you enjoy scary/creepy vibes. Could be cool if you particularly enjoy absinthe. I do not fit in either of those categories. Drinks were all ~$19 flat. If you want something VERY different from the average bar, this is it, but customers beware!!

We had a "funeral for my twenties" party the night before my daughter's 30th birthday. Mia our hostess was beyond welcoming and gracious. She was efficient patient and friendly. The drinks were amazing and I thought priced reasonably. The space was perfect for this gothic theme. Thank you for making it a success and thank you Mia!

The decor and vibe of this place is AMAZING. Dark, sexy, gothic vibes. They were able to accommodate my party of 6 for my 30th birthday as a last minute request which was really kind especially on a Saturday night. We had been running about 10 minutes late, and I texted them with a heads up. The only minor issue was that when we got there, it wasn't the warmest reception from the host. Later, I realized it's just a popular place and she was running around serving drinks as well as seating people and had a lot on her plate. She was really nice after, so no big deal, and the rest of the night was great. Good drinks, mine was a bit too sweet, called Tiki something or other, but otherwise strong and good. Jeremy, who helped accommodate our group, came to check on us a few times and was really sweet. I'm obsessed with the decor, and it's nice that it's not extremely loud. Very comfortable booth seating and chairs.

Finally an absinthe cocktail bar in NYC! My favorite is the Armagnac Sazerac drink and the way it is presented. And the Gothic decor takes me back to Paris. Well done, Amor Y Amargo team! Also, special thanks to Philip and Ross for making my birthday truly special. We'll be back for more!

We stumbled into this hidden gem while trying to find a good spot in the area and now this is among our favorite bars! Amazing theme bar with great cocktails, amazing presentation, delicious drinks, comfortable seating, and perfect level of noise for conversations. I will definitely be back! I never thought I would love an absinthe bar so much! Drinks were delicious and bartenders were super friendly and helpful.

What a great place!! The atmosphere was so fun and the space had great decorations! Went for my friend birthday party and we had a amazing time! The staff was super nice and friendly and the drinks were super good and we even got a fire show! Definitely coming back to this place !

A inquire experience for absinthe accompanied by great service, and a dark, almost goth like atmosphere.

Usually restaurants in Manhattan pack you in tightly with others parties. This one, you can't hear the conversation of other guests. The service was exceptional as always. It's michelin for a reason. The steak tartare with the potatoes was an amazing combination as well. The duck leg was within expectation. It's very similar to a Peking duck leg. The pasta was done well as well. From the hostess, our multiple waiters, the staff that was filling glasses and keeping our small table from getting over crowded, they were all so accommodating, kind and patient. Ambiance - kind lighting, beautiful bar, gorgeous indoor and outdoor tables - what else would you expect from MoMA?? Personally, I wouldn't do this but some folks had sneakers/athletic wear on in the main dining room in case you were wondering. Food - this section was tough to write. - Olives: ok, but nothing to write home about - Spices nuts: surprised that this one had peanuts that were wrapped in some kind of starch, like stuff that you would find in a Japanese snack mix. Underwhelming at best. - Heirloom Tomato flatbread: inedible. Someone had double salted this dish and I don't know how it got past anyone in the kitchen. - Sausage and polenta: inedible. Friend ordered this and could not take a second bite because it was also over salted and she's the polite one at the table. - Lamb: no complaints on this one. Might be because it was asked to not be cooked in butter and given plain. - Fish: mom ordered this and said that the fish was so salty she had to eat it with the bread to cut the salinity. She tried her best to finish, which is not something you want to hear when you've selected the venue and sent out the invites. - Duck: would recommend this dish it was excellent and perfectly seasoned. - Apple tart with ice cream: didn't even get to try it because it was gone before my coffee arrived so it must've been good. - Chocolate chip cookie with ice cream: this was in a small cast iron pan and served with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was some of the best I've ever had, and the cookie had a molten chocolate inside that was perfect with ice cream! It was like the fudge on a hot fudge sundae. Will come back for this. Manhattan cocktail: tiny & yum Coffee: strong, but I may be used to it bc of living on the west coast.

Our waitress was really nice and the service was so quick! First and foremost if I had to describe our brunch in one word it would be FLAVOR! Everything I ate had such a bold flavor to it. I'll start with the side of bacon, this had such a beautiful smoky flavor like it had been smoked all morning and was the perfect level of crisp and melt in your mouth. Next is the chicken and waffles. Normally this is just some chicken fingers on a waffle but not here! This was an actual piece of chicken that was seasoned and cooked with an amazing breading, juicy and delicious! The waffle had the perfect cook with crisp but not cutting your gums up in your mouth and with the butter and syrup it soaked up for a nice bite. Where I think the star was lost for us is on the avocado toast, while it was delicious with the jammy egg, there was too much avocado for the bread and the lime/citrus flavor took away from the natural flavor of the avocado spread. Guava juice with redbull was great and they gave us ice on the side for our drinks which isn't typical at a lot of NY restaurants.

The Chelsea location is the original Raines Law Room and is built around that hidden speakeasy experience.
