We each had tasty cocktails and ordered some appetizers - shrimp shumai and two specialty sushi rolls. The sushi was so fresh and delicious! It made me do a happy food dance. The food was so good!!! The peanut sauce was to die for too. Meg tried the fried ice cream for dessert too and it looked bomb! The food and ambiance are all amazing but the staff were so nice. At first, I was intrigued by the mix of Mexican and sushi on the menu, but we stuck with Mexican this time and we were not disappointed. The waitress greeted us right away and, seeing how hungry I was, quickly brought us homemade chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa was absolutely delicious , bold, fresh, and full of flavor. My wife ordered a burrito that was massive (in true burrito fashion), and I went with three tacos so I could sample a variety. The fish taco was my favorite, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced then followed by the chicken and then the shrimp. I loved being able to try three different types in one meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and our waitress was super friendly and informative. She told us it's a family-owned business, which made the experience feel even more special. We may not find ourselves in this neighborhood often, but if we're ever back, I'm absolutely getting Chicano's to go. Great food, great service, and an unexpected find that I'm really glad we stumbled upon.

If you want Thai food, I would easily recommend this place…read more We sat down to eat once and ordered takeout once. Both in-person and to-go/takeout services were good: friendly and pleasant. Ordered the papaya salad, drunken noodles, pad thai, and thai tea (with jelly) for two people. Everything tasted really good. We got the papaya salad spicy, and it was appropriately spicy for a Thai restaurant! The thai tea was sweet (as this drink often is), but had that tinge of bitterness that I like from good thai teas. Everything tasted great: well-seasoned, not too sweet/salty/oily. I would recommend everything we ordered. We had some leftovers to take home. On our takeout order, we got the pad thai, pad see eiw, and Thai fried rice. Everything was packaged nicely and was still hot when we got home. I thought the quality of the pad thai was the same quality as when we sat down to eat. I also like the flavors of it and appreciate that they didn't have a side cup of fish sauce to add. Good! You're the chef, you tell me how it should taste and I can judge afterwards. My judgement: It's really yummy pad thai, probably my favorite. Parking is easy if it's not too crowded; there are spots immediately behind the restaurant. 4 stars because I am very happy to be a repeat customer. This might be an unfair opinion, but I wished the portion size was a bit bigger (although, I would not want the quality to go down as a result).

The food took awhile to get to us but we weren't in a rush. Plus, it meant that everything was being made very fresh, which our food very much was. Among the 10 of us, we ordered a lot of food, including the papaya salad, dumplings, scallion pancakes, yellow curry, and pineapple fried rice. The scallion pancakes weee perfectly crispy and flaky, and were really quite good. The papaya salad also had all the fine flavors. Everyone also enjoyed the dumplings. I think the pineapple fried rice could have been more fragrant and I was disappointed that the yellow curry wasn't as sweet, or as fragrant as I'm used to, but it was still really good stuff. But I'm glad the curry came with rice and that we didn't have to place extra orders there. Overall I'm really glad we settled on this Thai place - it was really quite good and the prices were very reasonable. They also made it very easy for us to pay by keeping separate tabs for each family. And it was nice they have a private parking lot as well so you don't have to park your car in the street. I definitely recommend this place. The place is well decorated, clean, and has a good amount of tables for various customers.

The atmosphere was not welcoming at all - it honestly felt like we were bothering the person working there. I understand this is a startup, but it didn't seem prepared or ready to receive customers. The space is very small with limited seating, and the tables felt more like outdoor patio furniture than indoor dining. It was also very cold inside, with only a small portable heater that didn't really help. We ordered two sandwiches -a Cuban and a ham and cheese. When we asked what comes on the sandwiches, the response was "whatever you want on it," followed by "salad," which was confusing. I assumed that meant lettuce and tomato, but for someone working in a cafeteria-style restaurant, the lack of clarity was surprising. The premade food (pastelitos) looked old and unappetizing. The overall vibe was extremely quiet and awkward, with no warmth or energy in the space. When our food was ready, it wasn't brought to our table, the staff member stood in a doorway and expected us to grab it ourselves. I also asked for sparkling water and then regular water, and neither was available. Positives: The sandwiches themselves were good--warm and nicely pressed. The mayo/ketchup sauce, however, had way too much garlic (and I mean way too much). Overall, there's potential here, but the customer service, preparedness, and atmosphere really need improvement to make this a place people want to return to.
