Veal on bone pounded thin, served Parma style
Frank T.

Cafe Continental is traditional Italian food. We had a very good meal today. Started with appetizers of: - crab stuffed portobello shrooms - grilled shrimp and baked clams - eggplant rollatini* - fried calamari - caprese salad - cold antipasto - broccoli rape, crumbled sausage and polenta* Moved on to pasta of fresh tagliatelle with a smoky veal*, and penne with red sauce (* = foods that were crowd pleasers) Then entrees. Veal was the winner - from veal chops, to veal loins, served grilled or Parmesan pounded thin, topped with sauce, peps/onions, salad, or eggplant. Just ask for what you want, and going off the menu was a-ok here which gets them the fourth star. The pescatarians raved about the salmon and striped bass, but complained about rubbery scallops. Deserts and coffee were good. Italian is a very crowded category around here, I found Cafe Continental to be well run, good food, and service that cares. Clientele was definitely upscale and well-dressed (except for us).

Crazy busy at this great neighborhood restaurant. Standing room only on a Saturday night.

Is the menu on line accurate? I am looking for the oysters, escargot and the frog legs. I do not eat meat or pasta. Thank you

Personally I have never ordered the things on the menu that you mentioned, however, I know they don't put things on the menu that they do not have, that said, it's possible they run out of it. Every… Read more

The ambiance was warm and inviting, and every single person from the host to the bartender to our server and everyone in between played a part in making the night feel special. The attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine kindness did not go unnoticed, and it set the tone for the entire evening. We were first greeted with warm bread and olive oil, which was absolutely delightful and the perfect start. Our server, Paulino (I hope I'm spelling his name right), guided us through the menu with such care and knowledge, which made the experience even better. We started with the mussels Bianco and baked clams both were outstanding, easily a 9/10. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, we had the branzino and a pasta dish that was nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail like freshly cracked pepper added right at the table made everything feel elevated and thoughtfully done. To end the night, I mentioned that my mom had just passed her real estate exam and that we were celebrating her. They went above and beyond by bringing out an apple crostini with a candle, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. And yes, we devoured the entire thing. It was that good. Truly a 10000/10 moment. What made this experience even more meaningful is that it came after a long, stressful day at the ER. Walking into such warmth, care, and genuine hospitality meant more than I can put into words. Thank you again for the incredible service, attentiveness, and overall experience. I truly wish I could remember everyone's names because each person we encountered was a pleasure. Please let them know my mom and I are so grateful. We dined on April 3rd around 9 PM, and it's a night we won't forget.

The service and food were amazing! The food was fresh and came out fast. Their menu has many options to offer, including gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free options. Good thing that the complimentary bread with olive oil is gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. I had Mussels Pots, Branzino, Assorted Fresh Fruit, and a cappuccino with almond milk. Others had something else, which I had no interest in remembering. We would come back again and highly recommend you check out this place if you are in Roslyn.

The restaurant, Gatsby's Landing, draws its name from the romantic nostalgia of The Great Gatsby. Situated near the Long Island Sound and Roslyn Pond, the setting offered a beautiful waterfront ambiance. My wife opted for the Baby Roasted Beets Salad, Salmon, and Crème Brûlée, while I chose the Lobster Bisque, Squid Ink Tonnarelli, and Tiramisu. The menu highlights their commitment to fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients - a promise they certainly delivered on. The dishes were both delicious and generously portioned. It was clear the kitchen doesn't skimp on quality; for instance, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster meat, the squid ink tonnarelli featured an abundance of blue crab, and the salmon was a substantial, thick-cut fillet. The chef clearly possesses a mastery of technique, knowing exactly how to pair garnishes and balance flavors in perfect harmony. Furthermore, the waitstaff was both diligent and courteous. We can see why this establishment is so popular--the combination of exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and the serene lake views is hard to beat. However, there is one area for improvement: the restaurant should consider replacing their current chipped plates with larger, more elegant dinnerware. High-quality presentation would better reflect the dignity and caliber of the food they serve.

The fried potatoes were delicious, and most of our mains were decent. The sole and second crab cake were fine, spinach was good. Unfortunately, their signature lobster pasta was a major disappointment. It arrived as overcooked, mushy pasta that was scalding hot, like it had just come out of a microwave, with almost no flavor and zero texture. It tasted like cafeteria food, not restaurant quality. We sent it back twice. When we asked for a third try, they said it would take 15 minutes and seemed to discourage us from ordering it again, even though they admitted they could make it right with fresh al dente pasta. That wait time honestly made no sense for this pasta. Desserts and coffee were also weak. The staff was friendly and the wine list had a couple decent options, but the kitchen needs serious improvement. They have potential, just need to cook like professionals instead of taking shortcuts
