The chicken tenders were so hot She had to wait a few minutes before she could eat them. The food is always consistent every time we go. The store has several tables to sit at if you choose to stay and eat. The tables as well as the store was clean. The man at the register was friendly and he did let us know when her food was ready. They have a huge selection of beverages including beer. And the soft serve ice cream is really good as well.

This is a fully functional restaurant and or cafe style place. They have a great menu. The menu is seasonal. It's not simple by any standards. In fact it's a great little high end place for garden parties. But today it's just two simple individuals that are having lunch in a garden together. Now we had some sort of special lunch arrangement with hummus and a Greek like salad. It was fresh and delicious. They have great coffee offerings. You must have the flavored gelato with coffee. We had the hazelnut one. It's delicious especially on these hot humid summer days. The service was great. Not being from the area they had to explain the menu to us. A few times. But all went well. They make the gelato offerings as soon as they are ordered. The food they call at the end, eventually. It's made to order. Now where else can you eat in a green house garden? Here in Lexington! This was a first for us. They have all sorts of Sunday concerts while you dine. Music among the trees and flowers. Wow! I could not eat the English muffin, it was grilled, not toasted and was greasy, which didn't taste good. River did bring me some jam that I put on one half of the muffin but it did not sit well on my stomach due to the grease. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. He did not care for either. I tasted his waffle and I too thought it was bland and dry. He said the chicken was greasy. It was a huge plate of food and he brought 2 of the 3 pieces of chicken home that we ended up throwing away. It was never really crowded which afforded us the opportunity to sit and visit for about 3 hours so that was ideal. The chicken and waffles (from the brunch menu) came with a buffet of pastry. 5 of our party had brunch items that came with the buffet and one one of them ate a muffin from that buffet. All brunch items were priced at $25. Again, I think a bit expensive for chicken and waffles. I doubt that I would ever go back but if I did it would be for coffee and maybe a pastry.

For 2019, Selma's Catering and Events has the commission and is making some excellent food out of a barely serviceable food prep area. In the carriage house, the take-out style place has one table inside and three or four tables outside. The staff is very warm and hospitable, but easily overwhelmed by a crowd (we were 8 and a sandwich was forgotten - of course, for the wrong person in our group to have that happen to). The food was excellent. I had a taste of the Henry Clay, which is homemade pimento cheese on wheat bread with tomato jam and plenty of bacon. Imagine sweet and creamy with a salty crunch, and you may have a glimmer into this wonderful sandwich. The BLT was a classic and was absolutely loaded with bacon. The LOs' turkey sandwiches were incredibly generous. I had the Go West Young Man Salad, which was an entire sliced chicken breast with pineapple, strawberries and walnuts over chopped romaine. Served with balsamic vinaigrette, the salad was crisp and refreshing. DM had the homemade chicken salad served on crisp romaine, rather than a tomato, which was also good. Moist chicken with plenty of crunchy veg in a creamy dressing made for an excellent lunch plate. I highly recommend coming to the Ginkgo Tree Café, especially if Selma's Catering and Events has the commission.
