The food was ok, nothing worth mentioning. The service wasn't that great. Price was ridiculous! The show was great though. We were there to watch Julie Benko. Space was tight, I didn't like having to sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers for my meal. Will not return.

Filet minion and truffle fries

My steak as very over cooked and quite dry. But it was still tasty. The soup was ok. But the show was amazing.

Enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Cafe seeing Steve Tyrell. Not only is it a fabulous show, the food was delicious & mostly the service is top notch. If you have ever been, you know this is a very busy venue & clientele can be very demanding. The wait professionals are just that professional!! And extremely friendly making everyone feel special. Thank you to them for making our holiday getaway an especially enjoyable night.

Stephanie Block was the featured entertainer at Cafe Carlyle. Wow is she awesome and talented. She brought her husband Sebastian up for a song as a double treat. Her performance made up for the crowded condition of the room and mediocre food. If you get the chance to see her----go for it.

3.5 Stars. I want to give this place more stars. But between the prices and the cramped quarters, I can't. I bought my husband tickets to see Woody Allen and The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band as a gift. When I purchased the tickets through Cafe Carlyle, I was informed we had to dine there as well. That wasn't really my original plan (I thought some jazz and drinks!), but okay, we love food what could go wrong? We walked in right on time for our reservation and were seated at a tiny cafe table in a corner. We shared the booth. It was close quarters, which at first was romantic and sweet. But three hours later feels a little cramped. All the tables were this way. I actually think we were some of the lucky ones. Things could have been much, much worse. The venue is very intimate, I would say there probably isn't a bad seat in the house, unless you are one of the unlucky patrons who is seated with your back to the stage. There isn't really room to turn your chair around, so you are sort of just stuck. Anyway, that wasn't the case for us, so I was happy. We had a pretty good view of the stage, from the side. Not too bad, not great. Like I said, it's small so every seat for the most part is a decent view. We started with the Artisanal "Roof Top" Garden Greens salad. At $18 it wasn't worth it whatsoever. It was tasty I guess, but a complete rip off. We actually split it, thank goodness. I ordered the Bobby Short's Chicken Hash which was advertised as a Carlyle Classic. It was okay, not incredible by any means, but they get credit for it being an unusual dish. Basically pieces of chicken (there was a lot of chicken, it was hearty) and quite a bit of foie gras in a light sherry cream sauce with truffles. When it arrived, I thought it was on a bed of potatoes, but it was not. There were whipped potatoes all around the edge almost as a garnish, which was a bummer. The sauce was good, I would have liked to finish it up with extra whipped potatoes. We shared the creamed spinach side, which, while tasty wasn't the right consistency. It was very watery and seemed as though the spinach had been pureed. More credit is given for the large portions, my husband's beef tenderloin was enormous, and the creamed spinach side was too much for us to finish. The waiters were very professional and kind, they were excellent at squeezing through the almost nonexistent spaces to get to your table. We never had to wait long for another drink, which are worth mentioning: They made a killer martini. Probably one of the best I have had in the city. Right ratio of vodka to olive juice, large enough to keep me happy for a while, a tiny bit of ice on top...perfection. We also got coffee, not the best cappuccino I've ever had, but alright I suppose. We happily watched Woody Allen and his band as he played for about an hour and a half, which was really why we were there. They were very good, especially the piano player. Woody is a complete loon and it shows, we found the show entertaining. I liked that you could continue to get dessert or coffee/more drinks as the night progressed. We took advantage of this by ordering the New York Cheesecake (very well done, I couldn't even eat half the piece, however) and the Vanilla Valhrona Crunch, I didn't try any of it, but my husband smiled while he ate. When we got the bill I was absolutely shocked. With a tip, everything was about $375, which is insane regularly, but sometimes worth it for the best meal of your life. I just couldn't see the justification for it on this meal. It wasn't mind blowing, it wasn't something I would crave to come back to. AND: this was ON TOP OF the Woody Allen tickets at $150 a pop! Not an evening I would hate to repeat, we did have an excellent time, and the food was not bad at all, but not worth the price tag. I would love to go back on someone else's dime, or as a gift to someone special (a mother in law, perhaps?) All in all you definitely get that upper crust old New York feel in there, the service is excellent, the food was okay, the music was a blast. If you have the means or want to save up for it, it's an experience for sure. Once in a lifetime, I'd say.

The High Tea was a rip off, don't waste your money. The scones were dry and the pastries inedible.

Is there any way to just buy ONE ticket/how do I see a show here, by myself? I really don't want to pay for 2 people if I'm only 1 😅

They usually sell tickets where you can sit at the bar. They sell those for 1 person

Des anyone know *for sure* if the "minimum per person" ($75 food and beverage minimum per person) can be applied strictly to drinks? Not interested in the food but definitely interested in the drinks, atmosphere and more particularly the performance.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

We loved it so much we went back and second time for dinner. The first night we sat at the bar (it was crowded and we didn't have reservations) and made some friends who recommended Ivan's (the bartender) espresso martinis. Although we were drinking some white wine we decided after finishing those we would try them. Ivan makes them special with a little Bailey's! They were incredible! Like a dessert but not too sweet. Ivan shared his recommendations with us and we had some good conversation. We ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and Brussels salad as well. All very tasty. A couple of nights later we went back and had the rigatoni with red sauce which was phenomenal and our favorite and the Toscana salad, also great. The pastas taste homemade and everything is so fresh, including the bread. We of course ordered espresso martinis again and Ivan thought it might be us again and came by to say hi. He makes the restaurant feel like family! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in my next visit. It is now my favorite restaurant in New York! Thank you so much Ivan!

I sat at the bar and ordered a simple pasta with red sauce, some meatballs, and broccolini. The pasta was perfectly al dente and absorbed the red sauce nicely. I appreciate that I was not offered grated cheese or fresh ground pepper. It was served as the chef intended, showing off the tomatoes, accented only by the herbs and spices. It was not too oily either, if anything it could have had a touch more, but again this let the tomatoes come through. The pork and beef. meatballs are dense and served in a thickened tomato sauce. The bread that comes with it is nice for finishing that gorgeous sauce which does have a sprinkling of parm. The broccolini had a a touch of garlic and served with a lemon. You can judge a restaurant by its guests. The other solo diners beside me were locals, there for the food. Next time I'll try the vodka sauce with burrata.
