Cafe Bambino is a pretty cool little coffee shop that reminds me of the coffee shop of old Seattle - small, cramped, and delicious aromas penetrating hitting you as you walk in the door. Overall, the staples you will find here are pretty basic. They have good coffee - the cappuccino i ordered was great with a good head of foam. They also have your standard baked goods, which i want to try next time i'm there. The thing that bumped this review from 3 to 4 stars was the Mighty-O-Donuts they offer, which I love, and are phenomenal. Now I won't have to venture to Wallingford next time I want one! Hop-Along & I woke with our usual weekend coffee cravings this morning. But because the Ballard Nordic Festival is in full, annoyingly crowded swing until tomorrow, we knew 'north' was our most viable option to escape the buzz kill of horrible children running in front of us practically asking for a kick in the shins. I have only been once before; Hop-Along, however, tends to walk up here nearly weekly when he's not injuring himself by means of softball or juvenile delinquents. On this trip, I was pleasantly surprised at the experience (esp. having read my good friend Carrie H.'s review last week). My mocha was perfectly made, the conversation with the two baristas a great pick-me-up on my groggy morning (not to mention their witty banter with a regular customer rather entertaining), and although it was nearly noon by then, the selection and quality of breakfast items/pastries still well-stocked and fresh. However, we ended up bringing our coffee & pastries back home because, as other reviewers have noted, the shop portion of Bambino is awfully small (only a small bar and 2-3 stools for sitting on the inside). There is the outside patio area that I thought might be nice on such a sunny day, but there were two musicians playing and taking up maybe half of that space as well. Thanks to another Bambino reviewer, though, who says the musicians are only there on the weekends from 11am-2pm-- I will most likely come back another time OUTSIDE of that window so that I can actually enjoy the coffee & conversation with room to actually extend my arms when I yawn (assuming the caffeine hasn't hit yet). But other than the small space situation, I rather enjoyed my experience and my blueberry scone this morning, and shall return soon to add on the punches to my card. read more

Hands down best coffee ever! OK, i will admit that there is one guy (VERY laid back, puts soooo much love and patients into the drink hes making that it just blows my mind) and one girl (who i believe knows me now, which means good service from her!) who make it the best and by best i mean i ONLY go here now when i want coffee in hopes one of them may be working, ya its that good. The other few baristas who i think I've only encountered a couple times aren't AS good, coffee a little burnt or too much milk, but its still better them most. Yes, they aren't the most friendly group, but the place is TINY and its almost always got a couple people waiting, so i don't blame them if there just trying to make the coffee instead of chattin. Good selection of baked goods too! They have a cute balcony which usually has some type of LIVE music going. It more then makes up for the lack of inside space. If i could give 4 1/2 stars i would, but i think it deserves 5 more then 4! read more

I just wrote a review the heading is stuck on provo..... I like this place, its not like if this spot wasn't there it would make it a different or better place. I would usually go to the Eastern orthodox church a couple of blocks up and just sit on the steps while drinking the coffee. When I worked at goodwill next door, I would go get a cup around 8 a.m, before the whole process of opening started. theres a neat little bucket of cigarettes by the front door with American spirit clips that can help a nic - fit...just like the stores and laundrymat across the street. read more

This is exactly the little hole in the wall style cafe that I love. This place is tiny and cozy and is oozing with charm. I love all the stylings they have in the shop and for such a small place, they really make use of every nook and cranny. I was impressed that they have a pretty good selection of food too (I got one of the panini's and it was delicious!). But lets get down to the real reason anyone goes to coffee shops.... the coffee! I asked where the coffee was from and they get their espresso from Italy. I was not disappointed. The coffee was smooth and delicious (I got an americano). One of the best I have had in Seattle since moving here. It probably didn't hurt that the worker behind the counter (meg?) was very friendly, informative and made us feel welcome. Bottom line: Great Coffee + yummy food + great customer service = I'm a fan! I plan on coming back here many times. read more

I just moved into a house down the street from here. My husband LOVES the coffee but I got a soy latte and it was no bueno! It tasted like beans, not coffee beans, but rice and beans type of beans. I think maybe the barista over steamed the milk? Stopped in again this morning for a bagel, the young lady barista was super friendly and I loved the welcoming atmosphere! I will try the coffee again when I'm feeling adventurous. read more

This is provably the best coffee place in Seattle, and if there is something in Seattle that's coffee. I have been going to this place for the last 3 years and I can remember only one time when the coffee was not great. Most of the baristas are great and very friendly. I'd say their prices are pretty much average for Seattle. It's super small but cute. The outside sitting area is very nice on a good day. The shop always seems to have lots of regulars. The staff is nice and the coffee is very strong. I'd say a solid 4 stars. Also they have a punch card program. I believe it's 12 cups and the 13th is free which isn't the best free coffee program I've seen but hey! Free is free. read more

I used to stop here for coffee several times per week -- and have you ever tried their chocolate zucchini bread? holy crap! -- but one super sour barista in particular eventually made it impossible for me to return. The final straw was being forced to listen to a mini-lecture (not delivered to me because that would have meant that the she was actually acknowledging my presence) about how disrespectful and obnoxious the customers were. Best coffee in Ballard! I go here everyday and get a delicious tall Americano. The staff rocks, the coffee is fantastic, and you can buy a hoodie that Obama wore! I had a breakfast sandwich a few days ago and it was scrumptulescent. There's a case full of pastries that is protected by glass to keep you from diving in head first. A visitor from New Zealand, I spotted Bambino during a drive-by and the joint seemed to shout "Atmosphere" with a capital A. Went in and found my instincts were correct. A tiny space with a big friendly vibe, and a heated outdoor seating area next door. The barrista did a great job of interpreting what we call a "flat white" in NZ as a "double short latte", and the result was great, if not quite as potent as the Kiwi version. But I'm endebted to the Bambinistas because after leaving -- a good 30 minutes after leaving -- I found I'd lost my wallet. Retraced steps with clammy feeling in stomach and off-the scale heart-rate, searching pavement, hoping against hope, and as I walked in to my "last chance saloon", the barrista held up my wallet and said, "Are you happy to see me, or what?" Oh, man, was he right. So thanks, Bambino, for being a stand-out coffee shop and stand-up folks. read more

Come here for the coffee, not for the donuts / muffins / pastries. Yes, this is a very small local joint. The barista knows all the regulars and what they order, which just adds to the charm. The coffee is great...go somewhere else for pastries though. They carry a few I believe it's Mighty O's donuts, a few other things...nothing too exciting. read more

Recently moved to the area and tried Cafe Bambino. The staff was very friendly and the coffee was great. This is our new go to place for coffee. They also have pastries and goodies. My wife got a piece of lemon and lavender cake which was large and very tasty. The place is pretty small with some seating inside but that's not a big deal. There is a large covered seating area next to the Cafe if you want to hang out. read more

Went to Cafe Bambino's last night looking for an Americano, only to find it had closed. Actually my friend and I ran into to the owner as he was locking up. He offered me a quick shot, and ended up making me a delicious Americano on the house! I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and I love my Americanos, and I have to say that that was on par with the best I've had in the city. Or it might have been the best.. At any rate, it was really f'n good.
