Easily one of most memorable cafes experiences, ever. Located unassumingly off of Highway 1 and adjacent to the Russian River is this hidden gem. I didn't have many expectations for this cafe given its remoteness, but I was impressed on so many fronts. I ordered the crab roll, which featured a creamy, buttery dollop of crab over a toasted bun. At $15, it was a bit steep, but thoroughly delicious and fresh. Now, I've had far too many average matcha lattes at cafes before, but I was really impressed by the matcha here. Strong in flavor and deep green in color, Cafe Aquatica must be using a high-quality grade of matcha, so props to them for that! The ambiance was, unironically, a vibe. There's plenty of outdoor seating, so we found a bench overlooking the river. It turns out there's live music every Saturday, so that was serendipitous addition to the experience! Basking beneath the spring sunshine with gentle electric guitar in our periphery, we enjoyed our food, even noticing some otters in the river, and relished in a moment that felt almost too good to be true. read more

A unique cafe with interesting seating, however, our clam chowder was terrible. Very soupy, and not the taste of clam chowder. Perhaps a cheap version. A few bites and threw the rest away. Everything here is great. Coffee rather than espresso. They are pretty much always busy but the service was good and there is enough seating in spite of that. Absolutely worth the drive from anyplace in a 30 mile radius, partly because of the beautiful drive along the 1 and partly for the fresh air and strong coffee on the deck. All of the food looks good. Cafe Aquatica Boathouse themed cafe on the 1hwy and a cliff. Lots of outdoor seating and views of the pacific, picturesque homes adorn the banks and sweet black birds line up for your bread crumbs. The interior is very stimulating. There is a wrap around deck and picnic chairs on the water banks. Ordered a coffee and Egg Avocado Toast on Focaccia with Arugula. It was delicious, they had a poppyseed peppercorn type dressing on it which was fantastic and brought the whole dish together. Nice views to take in and enjoy with a coffee and a cookie. Stopped at Cafe Aquatica for breakfast with friends while on a 3-day motorcycle trip, and I couldn't recommend it more. A rustic building on the edge of where the Russian River meets the sea. Pelicans diving for fish, kayakers gliding by in the fog, and live Flamenco guitar music outside on a small stage on the back lawn. The menu isn't huge, but they had what I needed. I ordered a coffee and the eggs & toast with avocado. The coffee was tasty, and the plate had two pieces of crustless toast topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs, arugala and a generous amount of avocado. It was hot and delicious. If you're in the area and looking for some morning grub and good coffee, go here and hope they have live music that day. It completes the vibe nicely! read more

Was visiting the Russian River valley with some friends and wasn't quite ready to leave for home yet, so a couple suggested this little spot on the coast. I'd been by here dozens of times, but always :rushing" to somewhere else - this time I had no reason to pass it up! It is in a small hollow in the Highway and street parking was difficult. not sure I'd want to fight it on a pre-COVID summer afternoon! But, we found parking (separate cars) and walked about 5 minutes to the cafe. The building is small, and I thought the cafe was all of it but only about half is the cafe, the other half hosting a place where one can get beers! Maybe next time, LOL. There was a line for ordering and the side decks were already filled, although distanced as the tables are spread out. We waited a few minutes, then placed our orders for a couple of their house made bakery goodies, 2 Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread cookies. Wow, what a flavor combo - all my favorites. I also ordered an iced tea, with a vanilla shot (they had no Splenda, so I was winging it). We went to the back deck to sit and wait, and were above some shoreside tables and with a clear windbreak we had a nice view. And, we were the only ones in the corner. Eventually our names were called at the outside pick-up window. The cookies were amazing! buttery and crisp shortbread, with plentiful pistachios and dried cranberries. I almost got a second one, but my powers of portion control worked for once! This place is a nice stop on a road trip, but I wouldn't make it a destination - although we did! But, being in the area it was a nice place to make a U-turn before heading home. They do have other food items (salads, sandwiches) and coffee, so you should find something. The staff were very friendly and efficient in keeping things moving, but we just enjoyed the great view and delicious goodies while we slowed things down. A nice break indeed. read more

This place vastly exceeded our expectations, and in retrospect, their crab and egg breakfast special was the best meal of our recent trip to Mendocino. I was thoroughly enjoying the tangy, mustardy sauce that covered the egg on toasted foccacia, and as I got a few bites in, I realized "Oh yeah! Crab too!" It was bliss. The chai latte was also extra enjoyable on a typically cool, foggy day on the coast. I would no longer consider a trip up this part of the coast without a stop at Cafe Aquatica. read more

We were actually on our way home when we came across this place. We always go camping in the area, and we've always told ourselves we would check Cafe Aquatica out. It wasn't until today, we drove by and saw a live band playing. My fiancé loves live bands-- "happy wife, happy life" they say. Cafe Aquatica is a seaside gem! We stopped by for a light lunch on our way to the Russian River. Our order was simple but so satisfying: cappuccinos and Dungeness Crab Rolls. The coffee was especially extremely high quality and well made. In addition to the food, the outdoor ambience and views are unbeatable! There was also a guitarist singing and playing covers of classic hits, with the backdrop of an incredible landscape. Super easy to find, it's the first cafe you'll see entering Jenner, that right there is a bonus. Great coffee, service was smooth, organized and fast and food was excellent. When we went it was raining and there is a GREAT canopy, not too much seating, but we were lucky enough to fit our family of 4 into it. It overlooks the inlet/ocean and is just a nice place to view and listen (perhaps best without young kids as I have, but whatever, life sucks). read more

I may regret the excellent review I left a few months ago... we went to Cafe Aquatica today and waited in a long line over 20 minutes just to order! Granted, it was a beautiful Sunday around noon, so probably the ultimate peak time for business. Crab sandwich is still the best! I got mine without egg this time, and I wished I had gotten it with. We also ordered a cappuccino "with whip" and a golden tonic. They asked if we wanted honey in the golden tonic, to which we answered no. Next time we'll ask for a little! First time making a stop here. I met the owner socially a bit ago and made a mental note to stop by. Only wanted to check it out (impeccable location right on the water, with a fully realized Sonoma bohemian vibe) and get a coffee. Literally had the very best iced oat milk latte of my life. It's a simple thing yet seemingly so hard to execute. Obviously they use incredible coffee and have a great machine because the magic is in the espresso. Perfection. My family and I vacation here in Sonoma County at least once a year. We enjoy supporting local businesses and trying new eateries. Today we were in the Jenner area and wanted to try Cafe Aquatica after reading about it here on Yelp. We had worked up quite an appetite after exploring along the coast all morning. We have two young children (10 and 7), so we were trying to decide what they'd get to eat (they're kids and can be picky) so we had asked if they had any kid-friendly options. Sadly, they do not and we were told the best they could do was a bagel with cream cheese. Understandable. We stepped aside and discussed a bit more before we were ready to order. What followed was probably the worst ordering/customer service experience my wife and I have ever had in our lives. Our order wasn't too complicated: we ordered a total of four crab rolls and asked that one have no aioli and that another have an untoasted brioche roll. The young woman who took our order was rude and condescending during the entire exchange, making faces and shaking her head at us, as if the order were incredibly convoluted. We almost told her to cancel the order so we could go elsewhere. I didn't get her name, but she was young with glasses and short brownish hair. The food itself wasn't too bad, even if it is a bit expensive. The views of the water out back were nice. I really wish our experience here had been better as we might have come back in the future. However, I don't think we'll be giving this business any more of our money. read more

Read nice things but I just drove 40 minutes down the coast for a nice, peaceful lunch and got the opposite at Cafe Aquatica. I'd love to get an explanation from the owner because this was weird. I walked up at about 2:15, well before closing, saw signs about love and acceptance out front, walked around the side and saw people happily eating. I approached the window and waited a couple minutes. Eventually, a woman came over and slammed it hard in my face. Nothing before that. No words, no looks. I hadn't even seen her before she did it. Confused, I walked over to the doorway and asked, "Excuse me, are you guys-" Woman approached and slammed that in my face before I could say "closed?". Two times, I get the message but I would love to know why the staff is comfortable acting like that. The others just watched so they are all cool with it. I hope someone responds. In the meanwhile, if you plan to go out of your way to Cafe Aquatica, just know this is something they do there. Pack a lunch in case. I ended up at Fort Ross Store. They were great. read more

Smoked salad was yummy, but had very little salmon. Dungeness crab roll was not really a roll but a burger bun. Pretty small, not lots of meat and didn't come with anything else (like a small salad or fries). Mocha coffee was very good. Because of the location and being dog-friendly, I'd be willing to come back and try other items, however, the reason for my 2 stars is the yellowjacket problem. The moment your food shows up, you get swarmed! I overheard a staff telling a customer that "only 1 person has been stung, and they're more of a nuisance, really." What?!?! These are not flies! You swat at them and you get stung! They swarm the trash bins and then land on your food. Is "only 1 person getting stung" supposed to make customers feel better? We noticed that everyone who ordered same time as us immediately left after getting their food. Aquatica needs to get rid of this problem if they want to keep customers. It's a shame because the view is really pretty. We planned on checking out the wine bar and gift shop, but the yellowjackets literally chased us away! read more

I always, always recommend this place. Great plant based/vegan options, local gluten free bread option and when there's live music it can't be beat for the relaxed vibe and location on the water. A wine bar next door for those who want and coffee/non-coffee drinks here for the rest. Parking is limited so have patience - and have patience with the crew. They work hard ALL DAY and the flow rarely slows I bet, especially on nice weather weekends. And whaddya say - bring your own cup(s). Be nicer to Mother Nature and reduce your waste. read more

"This place looks like it's for Vegan marathon runners" says my 13 year old. We all laughed hard at his wit. Cafe Aquatica sits right at the edge of the town of Jenner, next to the post office and across from the gas station. It's a super cute spot and right on the lagoon. It's very open and you walk up and order them can sip your coffee/chai/matcha fully outside or under their covered porch. I loved the menu, all organic and as local as they can source. Clean food is the best food for your body. Take a minute or two to read what they have, it's all good. I went with the avocado toast on focaccia with a poached egg. My husband got the same but added Dungeness crab to his. We rounded out with drinks and waited about five minutes for our food. The focaccia was stellar, avocado and arugula fresh and rich and a dusting of everything seasoning made the perfectly poached egg perfection in my tummy. I had a few bites of the crab and enjoyed the rich and tasty meat. Dirty chai was excellent, more spicy than sweet which is my preference. Espresso was delicious for my husband. The view cannot be beaten also, you get to look at the Russian River folding into the Pacific Ocean. Lots of paddlers and kayakers to watch. Overall an excellent breakfast spot. The staff are super nice and when we left there was a line out the door. I was not surprised. It's worth the drive. Go. Lots of ample seating and dog friendly. read more

We stopped this morning before a day of wine tasting in Healdsburg. The drive in from Santa Rosa is scenic and leisurely. We had Eggs & Toast with avocado. The focaccia was great! There are a handful of seats available at the window inside, but the majority of the seating is on the deck or outside along the river. We loved the scenic views! This is one of those places that I am sad I didn't discover previously while in Jenner. I would go out of my way to come back here. The salmon salad was so fresh, and you literally cannot beat the $15 price point. The gluten-free bread and homemade beet spread were also wonderful. But, you really come here for the view and the ambience more than anything. It could've been underwhelming but I'd definitely get it again. Deliciously sloppy, get extra napkins. Their Drip & Whip coffee is a unique find. Great spot to grab food as you're passing through Jenner and sit by the river listening to live music! We dined here with our dog after a weekend up at Timber Cove and this was the perfect stop to get gas and food. It's a no frills type of stop but great for a quick, fresh bite. I had a delicious salmon salad and I am not a huge fan of apple cider vinegar but in this salad, I gobbled it all up real fast! Super tasty! Service is only at the counter.
