Food was good for the most part, one of our pasta dishes had a MASSIVE LONG NASTY hair that came off of the sweaty cook in the kitchen. The only thing they did was say sorry once, and then remake the dish. No comp on anything or a free dessert or something. A hidden gem in the Virgin Islands. We ordered the classic pizza and Scampi pasta and both were full of flavor. The pizza was perfectly balanced between crispy and soft. The marinara was amazing! The scampi was perfectly salty and had the right amount of seafood. My family were famished after a day or sightseeing, being on the beach and shopping in Saint Thomas. We needed some food before we finished our shopping and got on the tour bus back to our cruise ship. We stumbled upon Cafe Amici while shopping in the A.H RIISE Mall, and decided to eat here. We did it for two reasons: 1) it was right there and we did not want to go looking for another place. 2) We liked the ambience, it was outdoor, there was a nice breeze going, we liked the little fountain and everything. Getting a table took no time at all, there weren't that many customers. A few single patrons and perhaps two other families. Our waitress quickly took our orders. This was the quickest part of our experience. The service isn't just slow, its snails pace. We started with an appetizer of their meatballs, per the menu the meatballs come in a dish with polenta, marinara and shaved parmesan. I did not taste any polenta, the dish, although pretty good felt like it was more cheese than anything else. Did not exactly go with what is on the menu. We also got a Ama La Carne Pizza, which had pepperoni, sausage, applewood bacon, prosciutto and mozzarella. This pizza was delicious and certainly took care of any hunger we had. Again it took a while for us to get our food. Then the long wait for the bill. This took forever. We had to ask for the bill several times and in the end had to approach the bar and insist after waiting 20 minutes. We wanted to finish our shopping before we had to go to the tour bus! The restaurant was not even busy, no reason for that to happen. Food was good, service needs work. read more

We've been going to Cafe Amici for over 20 years and it has always been a must-stop whether on a cruise or staying on StT. The pizza was a fave. Sadly, this visit was a huge disappointment. Service was friendly but slooooow. (There were 2 servers and only 3 other occupied tables, even though a cruise ship was in). We arrived at 12:30 and It took well over 45 mins to get our drinks. My pizza crust was bready (like the oven was too cold). The margarita pizzas were burned on top. They ran out of coke. The draft beer lines froze (for second round), and the choices for bottles were bud, bud light, Michelin, and I got the last red stripe (after telling me they were out). There are several local USVI options so it was especially disappointing with the selection. They never brought sweetener for ice tea (we ended up helping ourselves). We left about 3:00 and I overheard the staff tell a passer-by that they weren't putting in any more orders. Overall a huge disappointment. We will try again next year (cuz we always do) and hopefully they will pull themselves back to where they once were Oh and for all that? They add 18% gratuity. Ballsy. read more

I figure my review will match other Yelpers on here but I'll put out here anyway. 18% GRATUITY AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED PER CHECK- Even if you did carry out. Used to be 20% but they had to comply with the law and be below 20%- so that made it 18. Ambiance is nice as it resembles an open air European cafe- but when it's full, it's extremely hard to move around and you'll find yourself in 4 other conversations. Unlike every other restaurant we went to on the island, this one told us we could only buy bottled water and there was no tap water. So that was $3 a person for 16 oz bottles. Food was average and overpriced, unsurprising for a tourist trap. We had cheese pizza which was good, but it's kind of hard to mess up cheese pizza. read more

Pasta differed from menu description tasted like it was cooked in ketchup, garlic in menu description but garlic flavor missing from dish. Came piled high with cheese unlike other places where option given. Pizza was basically cheese with very few veggies. Pointed it out to waitress she pointed with her finger at a piece of onion, piece of olive, a tomato.... Then she brought me the bill with TWENTY PERCENT GRATUITY FOR ONE PERSON AND PIZZA WAS TO GO. It is not as much about money as principle. This restaurant needs to be shutdown. Food was great! We got mamas meatballs, Lombardy Pasta and Sicilian salad - all very very delicious. However, the 18% service charge was annoying not so much because it's automatically charged and it's high but more so because the service wasn't all that. We had to wait a while for food and it wasn't busy, they didn't bring out the bread with the food and the alcohol selection is weak. If you drink Hennessy or any cognac for that matter, this might not be your place - zero cognac. read more

When traveling to St Thomas I wasn't sure what type of food this beautiful place would have to offer so naturally when my grandmother and I stumbled upon it we knew we had hit gold. Located within a quaint alley with local shops Cafe Amici is both romantic and sophisticated. I haven't had the pleasure of going to Italy yet but when I imagine what's it's like there Cafe Amici embodies my vision. We took a seat outside and it was a gorgeous day. Our waitress soon brought us menus and although everything looked delicious we decided on the Caprese Paninis with pasta salad. We were both brought bottled water and our food arrived promptly thereafter. It tasted as mouth watering as it looked. Bursting with flavor the pesto within was of the best I have had. The pasta salad was no different. Savory and sweet, you couldn't ask for more. I am so grateful we found this wonderful place while traveling! read more

This place came highly recommended. My family and I stoped there on port off a cruise ship and it was a total let down from the word go. We waited for a table and once one opened we took it. The owner came over and said we had to move because he had a party of 6. We were a party of 4. No big deal we moved. We waited 20 minutes for anyone to come and even acknowledge us. We weren't the only ones going through this. They had 2 waitresses on staff and the owner. I had to get up and ask for menus. We waited another 10 minutes until again I had to ask for service. We ordered 4 drinks. 1 never came and another was totally wrong.. ok so we order more and deal with it.. we put our order in for some pizzas and appetizers which I hear are great.. About a half hour goes by and I ask how long.. Our waitress says she will check. She then returns and asks what we ordered and we went through our order again. She never put the order in. While we are going through this people are complaining about wrong orders and long wait times. The owner who I swear is drugged out comes out and says he would comp our most expensive pizza. Nice gesture but we're very hungry and wasting time from our vacation sitting and waiting. I hear him telling the table next to us that cruise ships show up in port and all these people come to eat and have to understand it's hard on them. Sorry but you own a restaurant in a vacation port where people come and want to eat. May be you should have more staff then just 2 waitresses. 2 hours later still no food so we got up and walked out and not even a sorry or any communication. Epic fail on this place. read more

Oh I LOVE Cafe Amici..I loved it so much we had to come back right before we left St Thomas. The Pina Colada was excellent. Pizza was really good. Special of the day was also amazing. My husband and I loved it. A great place to rest after a long stroll of shopping or to Unwind after splurging at the Official Rolex Dealer at A.H. We were seated after 5 minutes of waiting, but the wait time for our food was 50 minutes, and they messed up our order. The workers didn't even check in with us during that horrendous wait time. I guess the cafe was busy, but we felt completely forgotten - not to mention very hungry. Now let's talk about the cafe's environment. They have fans to help cool you down, but the air was still very stuffy. Tables were small and seating was crowded. The place was not very clean and the ground had bits of food on it. The food itself was okay at best. Prices were not great but not too outrageous. Serving sizes were small. Another point that made me very dissatisfied was that we ordered the Milano pasta and they screwed it up. They forgot to add chicken to the chicken pasta. We mentioned the issue to them and at least they offered to add the meat later. Not to mention their automatic 18% gratuity - nasty vibes for a terrible experience. read more

A wonderful gem of a place tucked in a cute street full of shops. We sat at the bar of course and had a yummy Bloody Mary w homemade mix and then ate the Mahi Mahi dish for lunch -- we split. It was deliciously prepared w homemade pasta with flour from Italy. Our server Carl was great too - friendly and wise about the menu. A perfect lunch ! read more

Cafe Amici is adorable. It was the perfect place to take a break from the shopping and enjoy the atmosphere. It's all open air and very breezy attached to the AH Riise Mall. The pizza was yummy. They are stone oven pizza and large enough to feed two to three people (depending on the people). Don't sit to close to the kitchen section (which is also open air) because it gets a little warm. read more
