We were disappointed at the time but we found many other restaurants that had good seafood as well. We were traveling with other family members this time and thought this restaurant would be the best places to try pretty much every seafood dishes available in Lisbon and some of the unique foods that we can't get at home. We had barnacles, glass shrimp (it is supposed to have eggs outside the shell but unfortunately we were told the season was over so there were no eggs), spider crab, oysters with caviar, scallops, razor clams, and cheese with bread. My daughter's boyfriend tasted the barnacles for the first time and he loved it. We ended up ordering it twice. Everything was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food. Excellent service.

First of all, the waitstaff were fighting amongst themselves which was very unsettling. Table that ish till after work or take it out to the parking lot away from the patrons! Second of all, the food was very hit or miss. We ordered the garlic shrimp, clams, and scallops to start. Our favorite of the three were the garlic shrimp. We then decided to add the spicy garlic shrimp special which we did not know meant to be prawns. I thought it would be literally a spicy version of the shrimp we just ate. The shrimp special (Al ajillo especial) was just not worth it to us. The meat was very tough and chewy for 30 euros. The waitress told us it was supposed to be tough and chewy which I just don't believe. We liked the gambas al ajillo infinitely more! Unfortunately we didn't want to splurge here but I wish that we had the special crab and the ruby red shrimp. I feel like next time in Lisbon I would come back to try more dishes.

Busy and bustling with people, the restaurant offers a wonderful seaside view of a rugged beach which is exposed to the open ocean, so often has big wave and dangerous conditions for swimming, but I understand from a local that the surfing can be great with the right conditions. Note that you are best served to order "family style" and get 1 item for every 1.5 people if you are big eaters or 1 item per 2 or 2-1/2 people if you don't want quite as much to eat. We tried fresh fish, octopus, clams, and pica-pau (which was braised, not grilled and not served with bread, by the way). The seafood dishes were simple and excellent. The grilled octopus was good, but not the best I've had. The portion was an entire octopus (sans head)! With 8 in our group of 9 ordering something we had WAAAYYYY too much food! Unfortunately the POS system went down just as we wanted to leave, so it took quite a long time for us to get the bill and pay, which put a bit of a sour note on an otherwise excellent lunch.

A surprisingly good restaurant for such a touristy location!…read more We stopped there because it was one of the best-looking spots near the popular Carcavelos beach, about mid-afternoon. Given how touristy the location is, we didn't have the greatest expectation, but we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the service was impeccable. While not native speakers, when it came to food and service servers could speak and understand a great English and were very helpful when it came to helping out with the choice of drinks and food. The passionfruit sangria is the signature of the location and came in absolutely ginormous glasses, when ordered on a by-glass fashion (while still being reasonably priced). Not only was it refreshing, it was also surprisingly delicious for such a spot. For starters, we both went with gazpacho soup. While not authentic, it felt right for the weather and how we felt. Once again, it was extremely tasty and looked great! For the main dish, I took a whole-roasted fish (sea bass I believe) and once again, I was amazing. It was tender, it was well-seasoned, it was fresh, it was delicious and it came with a great seasoned olive sauce and baking potatoes. A really great example of the amazing seafood one can find in Portugal! My partner however was not as lucky. The crevettes skewer was lackluster and lacked any sauce or seasoning, while the crevettes were overcooked and rolled in flour prior to cooking, giving them a specific and not a very pleasant texture. Now, the desert - I went with a chocolate mousse - kept the whole trend of the culinary excellence going and was both chocolaty and delicious to the maximum. Overall, a great location, and if you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit!

But I guess everyone got that memo too, because there were several people waiting ahead of us. So looking next door was Mariscaria. After looking over their menu we decided to eat there. Obviously a lot of seafood. Emenu though isnt as extensive as most places in America. Customer service is OK. I do love how tip/gratuity is not automatically included in the price of the meal here in Lisbon (take notes America). Took a long time for our food, even our appetizer, to come out. By then the wines were already room temp. But all was forgiven when the food came out. Im a firm believer that its better to do a few things really well, then to have a lot but do them mediocre. The food here was amazing!! So fresh. You can taste their natural flavors. We ordered their octopus salad. Nothing like what you see in America. Small amount of greens only. The octopus was the star as it should be. Not chewy. Flavored well. It was really good. Truly an appetizer. For entree we got their mixed seafood platter that serves 2. Its 65 euro, but the quality was amazing. And the portion was really good too. My wife left full and happy. There were several different seafoods on the plate. There was sea bass, tuna steak, squid, salmon and some fingerling potatoes. Added some lemon juice on them and they were amazing!! Each cooked to perfection. Flavors were all different. Textures. Cooking methods. All different. All very good!! Potatoes were the perfect starch to go with it. We had their vinho verde (a thing in Lisbon, never heard of it before), which wasent actually green. Had a subtle green tinge to it. But it was just dry. Not very good. I also had their red sangria. It was really good. Sweet. Fruity. They wvwn left the fruit in there for me to eat. After a liter pitcher of that, I was feeling good!! Ambiance hwre is beautiful. Nice shade covering to protect you from the sun. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. Smoking in restaurants is something new to me. Its disgusting to me, in my personal opinion, but its not the restaurants fault. Overall though. The food was really good. Simple yet complex. Beautifully balanced. Tasted amazing. Took a little of time for the food to come out, but this place is worth the wait.

We were here for the carnival. We have look up yelp and the this restaurant did not disappoint us. We start with local beer and Sangria. Local beer is super bock. It is a light beer. We started with the octopus. It tentacle is section cut in dish with olive oil. It is fun appetizers. We also have the bamboo clam which is call Atlantic jackknife. This clam I have it at Malaysia. Now I see them in Portugal. It is delicious cook with stir fry. It is also delicious. We also have the little neck clams. It is good too. Our entree is the garlic shrimp. The garlic was pan seared to crispy and cook with the shrimp. The aroma is perfect. Last and the best is the season king crab look like massive dungeon crab. The center of the top shell is stuff with crab meat stuffing. The crawl taste like Florida stone crab and sweet. I like my experience here. Highly recommended.

It was hoppin' when we arrived but we snagged an open patio table pretty quickly and were given drinks promply. We made a great choice with the half pitcher of sangria. So good! We opted for red but most tables got white. Glass, half pitcher or large pitcher. On the table upon arrival: sausage, olives, fried fish cakes, bread (so good-well seasoned). Know that these table items are not free like in the US. You are able to tell them "no thanks" to whatever items you don't want and they will take them away with no charge. We kept all items this time since it was our first meal in Lisbon area and we wanted to try new things. We also ordered: Shellfish Mix Platter (Cold shrimp, crab mix dip, au gratin shrimp dip/spread, crab, garlic shrimp). We should have known better with the cheese/seafood combos that this was a gimmicky meal. Most of the items ended up tasting a bit heavy instead of light, flaky, and flavorful like fish can/should be. We did enjoy the garlic shrimp and the crab, but the dips were too heavy for us. Fries-best we've had in Portugal Spoke English. They gave us an English menu upon recognizing our "unique" Portuguese attempts. Note that they take Euros only. No cards. We would go back nut not order the platter.

Then another Portuguese local recommended this place. We didn't come during peak lunch hour, but the place was still rather busy. This place is not exact on the waterfront, separated from it by a wide street, though the view is quite open. We are glad the menu is available in English and the waiter is also fluent in English. We ordered a sole, and a risotto. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner, the quality of seafood is very good, and the price very reasonable. Since he is a local, he highly recommended that we order the Fried Squid meal. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly employee that led us to a table within the outdoor seating area. After providing us with menus, we ordered one fried squid meal and two glasses of the Periquita Rosé. 10 minutes later our meal arrived at our table. The fried squid was absolutely delicious. It was perfectly fried so that the exterior of the squid was crispy (not dry), and the inside was surprisingly juicy. The pairing of fries with the squid was so delightful that we ordered a second fried squid meal to share amongst ourselves. The Periquita Rosé was just ok in our opinions. However, my wife and I are not fans of Rosé, we merely tried it because our tour guide recommended it. We ended up ordering a round of the Planalto dry white wine, which was better in our opinions. If the fried squid meal was an accurate depiction of how the other meals on their menu taste, I'm disappointed that we couldn't have revisited this restaurant at least two more times. I HIGHLY recommended this restaurant to any seafood lover!
